Canada planning to take 85,000 refugees from Kenya

Posted by Judy K. Warner on February 17, 2008

The Discover Vancouver website has a Reuters report:

NAIVASHA, Kenya - Canada is expected to accept almost 85,000 refugees from the war-torn country of Kenya….The citizens of Kenya seeking asylum in Canada will be dispersed in the cities of Vancouver and Toronto over a span of 5 Years.

I thought Canadians were politically correct in the extreme, especially those in Vancouver. Not so, if you go by the long comment thread following that post. I am amazed at the comments. There is almost nobody defending this, and many show great understanding of what is going on. Some samples:

NO political party will defend bringing in these violent offenders and making our citizens prey to them. BUT, we can with elections coming up DEMAND from those that run for office that IMMIGRATION be given a HUGE overhaul to stop them from getting in.

———————-

Yeah good luck with that. They will probably just label you a “nazi” or an “ignorant bigot who is afraid of change” and carry on with their agenda.

———————-

I have grave concerns about this. If these people are used to solving their problems with each other with violence, guns and terror , will they taught that such actions are inappropriate and indeed illegal in our country? There is no problem if they want to live peacefully, but, if they think they will form ethnic groups and continue with their former way of violence then WE ALL have a problem.

————————

Enough is enough. The UK, the US, Canada and Australia, need an over haul on this refugee and immigration BS. It’s not our problem but their own countries problems and by doing this, we are bringing problems to our own countries. We should help them, IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES, but don’t allow them all to flood our countries. It’s time borders are tightened and common sense is used. This is not fair to the citizens of the mentioned countries. There are reports of rapes, crime, etc. caused by these immigrants and refugees, exposing the citizens to danger, and it’s not right. The people should have a say on this.

———————

I cannot think of any other reason to do this. For the money spent on supporting these refugees through tax dollars, it would be just as helpful to keep them in their own country and help them there.

I am very encouraged by the common sense of the citizens of Vancouver who commented. Someone posted a link to RRW and we’ve had a few visitors from the link. We welcome your comments, Vancouverites.

85,000 refugees is a staggering number, greater than the number the United States accepts each year, and Canada’s population is only one-tenth of ours. This will cause huge disruption — maybe enough for the elites to take notice. They are even prouder of their multiculturalism than our elites are of ours, but they have no idea what is coming down the pike if they insist on flooding their country with refugees.

Update, February 28, 2008: Since the original item that I linked to, I have never seen another mention of this story. I couldn’t even find it on the Reuters website the same day I found it on Discover Vancouver — the story wasn’t linked, but it was attributed to Reuters. I am sure we would have seen the story somewhere if it were true, because the number was so startlingly high, so I have conclude that it is not.

am also quite surprised with this countries, most of this refugee are fugitives from Kenya, why would they be given better life than the real refugees in still Kenya, languishing in IDP camps?everyday we read about the difficulties this internally displaced persons go through, the ones in Canada are those that have connections with NGO(non-governmental organization)such as ANGEL OF ROSE HOUSE-WINDSOR REFUGEE SHELTER HOMES,They keep on changing there names after every situation in Kenya, we had crises yes,but we can manage them,we are loosing our families through this crude methods, especially women running away from there men,and stealing the children just to end up in Canada, its a shame that this countries can harbour fugitives and leave the real refugee suffering in Kenya.i know of a curtain lady who came to Canada as a refugee, she was neither affected by the post-election violence in Kenya, neither was she anywhere near the affected areas during the post-election violence or any of the clashes, but she has now settled in Toronto Canada, planning to come and steal her children, whom she left behind suffering in the name of post election violence, who would leave her children behind during this hard times?all the internally displaced persons are seen moving with there children in camps, being rained on(this is a rain season)surely why would Canada give such people shelter at the expense of genuine affected persons? they all use our neighbouring country Uganda to run with forged documents, come back through Uganda when coming to steal the children, then our government is wondering what’s happening to the disappearance of children in Kenya, just to end up in Canada.this way they cannot be known to make contact with there country of escape?can you imagine what these fugitives are giving our good country a bad name, while the NGO’s benefits, some have connection even in European union, whom our country listens to so much, not knowing the evils that these groups do,its time Canada send back home those that don’t meet the statues of refugees.

  5. [...] these numbers are definitive evidence that the report we concluded was false last month, Canada planning to take 85,000 refugees from Kenya, was truly the product of someone’s fevered [...]

I am kenyan. I dont quite think ressettling such a large number of people will provide a durable solution to our countries problems, besides we need to seek our fellow arficans before engaging the west, and facing prejudices as described above!

Absolute insanity. The suicidal, PC, multi-culti crowd is Hell bent on destroying the West. Immigration and refugee policy absolutely must be approved by the public via referendum. Our elected representatives weren’t, in my opinion, given a mandate to import tens of thousands of “others” to create countless societal problems. And unfortunately refugees aren’t like a pair of ill fitting pants, you can’t return them so the problems they create, or that their mere presence create are with us forever. If politicians want to resettle peoples from dramatically different cultures they should be forced to first seek the approval of the people. My loathing for Liberals and their selfish actions increases every day.
