Good luck in Somalia Mr. Mayor

Posted by acorcoran on August 31, 2011

The Mayor of Lewiston, Maine is going on a mission of mercy to deliver supplies to the needy in Mogadishu according to this report in the Lewiston Sun Journal.   If  US mayors can pop on over to the supposedly war torn country maybe its safe enough to slow the flow of Somalis to the US?  Or, at least start thinking about them going home to help their homeland recover.

From the Lewiston Sun Journal:

LEWISTON — Only those who have lived in refugee camps on the Horn of Africa know what it’s like, and they have a special responsibility to help, said Dr. Abdifatah Ahmed of Atlantic Global Aid.

“A lot of Somali Americans, the Somali diaspora [they love that word---ed], are going back,” Ahmed said. “We are not waiting for the U.N. or the Red Cross to get back and help. It is our responsibility as the Somali diaspora to take the lead and help show the world.”

Ahmed, Lewiston Mayor Larry Gilbert and a group of local volunteers announced their plan to deliver medical goods and aid in December to refugee camps in Kenya and the Somalia capital of Mogadishu.

Under the heading of Lewiston-Auburn-based Atlantic Global Aid, the group is collecting unused medical supplies from U.S. hospitals and medical offices, Ahmed said. Members plan to fill a shipping container and accompany it to the Horn of Africa.

Mayor Gilbert is the same mayor who was schmoozed by John Podesta and the Center for American Progress, here, last December.

But hold on Mr. Mayor!

It seems the “Obama regime,” having cleaned up Egypt and Libya, has its clutches into Somalia too.  They call it the Obama regime—-not me!

Here is a publication (obviously on the HARD Left) that suggests the Obama war machine is moving into Somalia next!  (I shudder to think that I might actually agree with a publication on the Left about NOT getting into the turmoil in Somalia no matter what it is about—do not send American troops into Somalia!).

Led by the Central Intelligence Agency(CIA) the U.S. is stepping up its war in Somalia, The Nation magazine reports.

“The CIA presence in (the capital) Mogadishu is part of Washington’s intensifying counter-terrorism focus on Somalia, which includes targeted strikes by US Special Operations forces, drone attacks and expanded surveillance operations,” writes Jeremy Scahill, the magazine’s national security correspondent.

A professor from the University of ILLINOIS says it’s all about oil and that Obama was formerly on the CIA payroll (I thought that was a rightwing conspiracy theory—gheesh this is confusing!).  This is a Leftwing professor–he is NOT, I repeat, NOT! a Tea Party guy!

Francis Boyle, distinguished authority on international law at the University of Illinois, Champaign, says the US. is “just using Shabab as an excuse to steal Somalia’s gas. Just before President Bush Senior’s Gulf War I, Somalia was already carved up among four or so U.S. oil companies. Then Bush Sr. invaded under the pretext of feeding poor starving Somalis…(but) the Somalis fought back and expelled us… So now we are just trying to get back in there. Notice they are escalating the propaganda again about poor starving Black People in Somalia, as if we ever cared diddly-squat about them. All we care about is stealing their oil. Shabab and famine are just covers and pretexts.”

The expanding war in Somalia, largely unreported in America, marks the sixth country in the Middle East—-after Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, and Yemen—in which the regime of Nobel Peace Prize-winner Obama is engaged. One wonders how many additional countries does Mr. Obama, (the former secret CIA payroller,) have to invade to win another Peace Prize?

So the Mayor, certainly egged on by the likes of John Podesta, is going to Somalia in December….hmmmm!  Good luck with that, you are a better man than me!

Pew Survey: no worries! Muslims in America are moderate, no extremism here

Posted by acorcoran on August 31, 2011

The Pew Research Center has come out with a new study of American Muslims (the previous study was in 2007).   Admittedly I only scanned the summary, but did go to the original report to check a few things which I’ll tell you about below.

Pew says basically Muslims are assimilating and are just your average happy-go-lucky Americans (sorta like American Christians).

The study entitled,  ‘Muslim Americans: No Signs of Growth in Alienation or Support for Extremism,’ tells us there are 1.8 million Muslim adults, 2.75 million of all ages in the US and that number is up by a whopping 400,000 since 2007.

Based on data from the survey, in combination with U.S. Census data, Pew Research Center demographers estimate that there are about 1.8 million Muslim adults and 2.75 million Muslims of all ages (including children under 18) living in the United States in 2011. This represents an increase of roughly 300,000 adults and 100,000 Muslim children since 2007, when Pew Research demographers used similar methods to calculate that there were about 1.5 million Muslim adults (and 2.35 million Muslims of all ages) in the U.S.

By the way, since the population increase involved 300,000 Muslim adults that means at minimum we admitted 300,000 Muslim immigrants since 2007.  I say “at minimum” because there are many thousands more who came illegally and are now hiding in the shadows.

Then we are told that ONLY 19% believe violence is justified sometimes to defend Islam.  So using only the adult head count—1.8 million times 19% equals only 342,000 American Muslims could justify violence sometimes!

About eight-in-ten American Muslims (81%) say that suicide bombing and other forms of violence against civilians are never justified in order to defend Islam from its enemies.

If we take 19% (who think violence is O.K. sometimes) of the 300,000 Muslim immigrants since 2007 then 5,700 of those immigrants think violence is justified sometimes.   However, I bet that number is low because you can be sure that most of the 300,000 immigrants refused to answer any questions from some Pew researcher probably figuring it was the FBI calling!

Pollsters also asked how many have a favorable view of al-Qaeda and found only 5% admitting to some sympathy there.  Again, 5% of 1.8 million means that 90,000 think favorably of al-Qaeda.  Wow!  Only 90,000 (and those are the ones who admit it!).

Muslim Americans continue to express extremely negative views of al Qaeda: Just 5% have a very or somewhat favorable opinion of al Qaeda.  [Don't you just love how Pew reports this!---ed]

When you go look at the report and the methodology, I think you will be struck by the same thing I was—-how many more radical Muslims simply hung up the phone on the researchers?  The questions are many and probing and surely only the most moderate and Americanized Muslims (who speak English well) would even answer them, thus skewing the results right out of the box.

Here are a few other things that jumped out at me in my quick reading of the results:

Most Muslims came to the US in the last ten years:

Most of the foreign-born Muslims came to the United States after 2000 (40%) or during the 1990s (31%). An additional 16% arrived in the 1980s. Just 12% arrived before 1980.

They are poorer then Americans:

But differences emerge in the middle of the scale: 40% of Muslim Americans report family incomes between $30,000 and $100,000, compared with 48% of the general public. And a higher percentage of Muslim Americans than the general public report that their annual household earnings are less than $30,000 (45% among Muslims, 36% among the general public).

Unemployment is higher:

But underemployment is more common among Muslims than in the general public; 29% of Muslims are either unemployed and looking for work or working part-time but would prefer to have full-time employment, compared with 20% of adults nationwide who are in these circumstances.

There might be questions about welfare usage but I didn’t see them in my first quick look.  They did ask if Muslims recycle!  That is very important to know.  If you see welfare usage stats, direct me to them.

Then here is one of the most telling portions of this whole report!  This is what they say about the Muslim fertility rate (emphasis mine):

The survey also finds that Muslims in the U.S. tend to have somewhat higher fertility rates than the general public.  Among women ages 40 to 59, who largely have completed their childbearing years, Muslim women report having had an average of 2.8 children each, compared with 2.1 among all U.S. women. In general, the pattern of higher fertility among Muslim Americans is similar to that seen among many other immigrant groups in the U.S.  [So what is the fertility rate????---ed]

I went to the full report to see if they were hiding the numbers for the fertility rate for the younger Muslim women in their childbearing years and could not find anything other than this stat for the old women.  Who the h*** cares about what the old women are reporting.  How many babies are the young women reporting?  If any readers find the number for the Muslim fertility rate in this report—for the women under 40—please direct us to it!

Readers, this is the KEY concern in the immigration battle going on in Europe—will Europe become a Muslim continent because Muslim population exceeds the British, French, Dutch, German and Spanish native populations through immigration and through higher fertility rates?

An opinion piece to ponder…..

Posted by acorcoran on August 30, 2011

I was a little surprised to see such a frank piece published in a mainstream publication—the Richmond Times Dispatch.

I don’t have time today to analyze every bit of it, but wanted to post it before it’s too old (something that happens too often when I can’t get to my queue of articles worth posting).

The author, Patricia Strait, is an associate professor at the University of Richmond and dares to address the dreaded “N” word—Nationalism.

Rising Nationalism raises Global Tension:

Now that the budget debate is behind us for the moment, perhaps the public can turn its attention to a far more dangerous global phenomenon, the clash between rising nationalism and immigration.

A recent case in point is the massacre in Norway. Despite initial reports that the massacre in Norway was the senseless actions of a madman, the attack itself was actually meticulously planned and its victims carefully selected.

Many people asked if the gunman, Anders Behring Breivik, wanted to make an anti-immigration statement, particularly against Muslim immigration, why did he attack Norwegian children at a summer camp? In this case, the camp was no ordinary summer camp, but rather one for children whose parents belong to the ruling political entity known as the Labor Party.

When questioned by the police, Breivik indicated that the only way to get politicians to acknowledge the danger of Norway’s immigration policies was to kill their children — a chilling rationalization. However, it would be a grave error to label the recent events in Norway as the isolated actions of a mad man.

Breivik is only a small bubble in an otherwise simmering pot of violent nationalism that is gaining ground among countries that are experiencing high levels of immigration. In this instance, nationalism is defined as an intense desire to protect one’s nation from intrusions from nonnative populations whose culture, religion and language differ from those of the host population.

Such differences often include profound philosophical differences regarding the concepts of freedom and equal rights.

The level of alarm among nationalists has been increasing as Scandinavian countries, Ireland, Spain, Germany, France, and the U.K. experience a wave of unprecedented immigration. It is dangerous to simply dismiss Breivik and others like him (yes, there are others like him) as psychotic xenophobes.

Strait has three theories of immigration drivers.  Read the article for the first two and then here is the third—MULTICULTURALISM IS GOOD and represents the natural order.

Here it is assumed that immigration represents the natural order of the universe as the world becomes more mobile and interconnected. Multiculturalism is a phenomenon that in itself should be protected and valued. Immigrants should not be forced to adapt but rather countries should encourage a pluralistic society. This mixing then creates a more advanced and sophisticated society.

It is in fact multicultural theory which is currently under attack by Sarkozy, Merkel, and Cameron, who have recently publically declared multiculturalism a failure. Indeed, they contend that multiculturalism creates not only an unsustainable and divided society, but a system that eventually leads to the demise of the host population as the immigrant birth rate overcomes the host population.

Multiculturalism is also the theory that best explains the increasing violence because advocates of multiculturalism did not anticipate the extent to which host populations would go to defend their native cultures.

How does it all end? According to Strait:

Is the means to end the violence to end immigration or to insist upon faster assimilation of immigrants into the host population? It would appear both of these options are currently being explored as host countries are rolling back their immigration quotas and at the same time insisting on rapid assimilation.

When elements such as religious differences, terrorism and clashing concepts of equal rights are thrown into the mix, the simmering pot of nationalism and multiculturalism threatens to boil over.

Whoa! Check it out! Obama’s illegal alien uncle has been found

Posted by acorcoran on August 28, 2011

(Cross-posted from Potomac Tea Party Report)

Update August 29th:  The Australian has more details, here.

For readers who have followed the tale of President Obama’s African Aunt Zeituni who was found to be living illegally in the US in 2008 (she had been ordered deported, but never left) and was ultimately granted asylum (from what persecution never was made clear, but she had great lawyers!), here comes incredible news.

Obama had mentioned Uncle Omar in Dreams from My Father (written with the help of Bill Ayers), but his whereabouts in the US (or even whether he was alive) were not known until last week when he turned up in a near miss accident with a police cruiser.

He told police he wanted to call the White House!

The story is here in the Washington Times today (Hat tip: Gateway Pundit):

A number of media outlets have already reported that an illegal immigrant from Kenya by the name of Onyango Obama, 67, was arrested last week on Wednesday after he nearly rammed his SUV into a police car in Framingham, Massachusetts.

He was later charged with DUI among other violations. I spoke to Framingham Public Information Officer Lieutenant Delaney who told me that when Onyango Obama was asked at booking if he wanted to make a telephone call to arrange for bail, the Kenyan immigrant replied: “I think I will call the White House.”

[....]

According to article, federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement has warrant for his arrest and ICE previously ordered him to be deported back to Kenya. In the meantime, a judge has not set bail on the driving charges but ordered that he be held on the ICE warrant.

Lucky for Uncle Omar that his nephew just unilaterally gave amnesty to anyone not committing a major crime.

By the way, Obama’s relationship with his supposed beloved Aunt is a strange one—here in 2009 she complained that he doesn’t invite her to family gatherings.

A grazing dispute in Africa lands us more refugees

Posted by acorcoran on August 28, 2011

That grazing dispute was 20 years ago, so now we have one more growing population of African “refugees” —-this one in Cincinnati.   The Catholic Archdiocese of Cincinnati brought the first Fulani to Ohio we are told in this Cincinnati.com article.  Today there are 1200.

Fulani develop strength in unity‘ [but, I thought it was supposed to be 'strength in diversity,' which is it?]:

All of the other 68 units in Mulberry Court Apartments are homes to one of the region’s most cohesive and distinctive immigrant groups, the Fulani people – primarily from Mauritania, Senegal and Guinea, Africa. Their community has grown from a few families and individual men in the early 1990s to about 1,200, clumped in other apartment units in Florence, Springdale and the West End.

The Fulani have largely kept to themselves, working and living with each other, otherwise blending into American culture as dark-skinned Africans, often indistinguishable from black Americans.

Proud and protective of their culture* – adhering to an elaborate code of conduct emphasizing modesty, common sense and patience – the Fulani now want to share that culture with Greater Cincinnati.

The first African cultural day, known as Nyaldi Pinal, will be next weekend in the West End.

“The reason is to bridge the gap and share our culture,” said community leader Abda Tall, 52, an asylee from Senegal who works as an interpreter at the Lincoln Heights Health Center, where many Fulani and other African immigrants receive medical care. “We know there is a fence between us and the other guys, especially black Americans.”

The goal is to assimilate into American culture while maintaining Fulani culture, primarily Muslim teachings.

Now here is the part I want Allahsoldier to see because he doesn’t believe it was Arab Muslims who enslaved Africans.

Historically, peace and freedom have been elusive.

A band of nomadic, Black Muslim herdsmen in Africa, the Fulani endured discrimination to the point of slavery in Mauritania, especially where the lighter-skinned, Arab-Berber class has ruled for 800 years.

A dispute over grazing rights on the Mauritania-Senegal border in April 1989 ignited a two-year war and the forced exile into Senegal of 70,000 black Mauritanians. In all, a quarter-million Fulani in both countries fled their homes to escape persecution, many ending up in refugee camps in Mali.

So there is a dispute in West Africa over grazing rights that ignites a two-year civil war and that becomes our business!

Here is what wikipedia says about this border war (check it out for the links):

In April 1989, the dispute over grazing rights led Mauritanian Moorish border guards to fire at and kill two Senegalese peasants.[1] As a result, people on the Senegalese southern bank rioted. In Senegal, where many shopkeepers were Mauritanian, shops were looted and most Mauritanians were expelled to Mauritania. In Mauritania, lynch mobs and police brutality ended in the forced exile of about 70,000 southerners to Senegal, despite most of them having no links to the country. About 250,000 people fled their homes as both sides engaged in cross-border raids.[1] Hundreds of people died in both countries.[2] The Organisation of African Unity tried to negotiate a settlement to reopen the border, but it was ultimately an initiative of Senegalese President Abdou Diouf which led to a treaty being signed on July 18, 1991.

Mauritanian refugees would slowly trickle back into the country during the following years, but some 20,000–30,000 remain in Senegalese refugee camps today, and this is were the armed black nationalist Mauritanian movement FLAM is based.  [So, are we taking FLAM too?--ed]

Again, why on earth do we have the Archdiocese of Cincinnati (with the US State Dept) scooping up people and bringing them to the US just because they have a grazing dispute and have been killing each other for EIGHT centuries?

* And, tell me, why is ‘proud and protective of their culture‘ (or ‘cohesive’ ) a positive thing when it involves African Muslims but white European Christians are condemned for the very same thing?  Newsome? Victor? Where are you?

Norway gets 300 more Muslim “refugees”

Posted by acorcoran on August 27, 2011

Here is a short piece from the Norway Post (probably short in hopes no one will see it!) about Libyan refugees going to Norway this week:

Norway will receive 300 refugees from the war in Libya. The first eight arrived at the Oslo International Airport Gradermoen Tuesday evening.

The refugees, who originally come from Somalia and Eritrea, have spent the last few months in a refugee camp in Choucha in Tunisia, at the Libyan border.

What’s up with this, I thought Obama had liberated Libya and everyone could go back to a brand new Democratic life there?

Alleged Al Shabaab financier collapses in court

Posted by acorcoran on August 27, 2011

We finally got former Rochester, MN resident Mohamud Said Omar extradited from the Netherlands where he has been held since 2009 as the alleged financier of the Somali refugee “youths” who returned to Africa for jihad training.  Here is our story on his arrest in 2009.  Read all about him, just your average “penniless” refugee.

From AP:

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – A Somali man accused of helping recruit fighters for the terror group al-Shabaab has been hospitalized after collapsing in a U.S. court.

Mohamud Said Omar was in court Friday for a detention hearing when he collapsed. The 45-year-old regained consciousness, but the judge suspended proceedings so Omar could get medical care.

Omar’s attorney, Matt Forsgren, said his client has had similar episodes in the past, though he declined to elaborate.

Omar is charged as part of the U.S. government’s investigation into the recruitment of at least 21 men who authorities believe left Minnesota to join al-Shabab in Somalia. He’s been indicted on five counts, including providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization.

He’s been in custody in the Netherlands since 2009 and was recently extradited to Minnesota.

Adding insult to injury, now we will be paying for his medical treatment!

For new readers:  We’ve been reporting on the Somali-youths-going-to-Jihad-training story since it first broke in 2008 here.

And for your information, the US has admitted well over 100,000 Somali refugees to the US since the early 1990′s (they were trickling in in the 1980′s).   To check out the numbers visit this post, one of our most widely read posts over the last few years.   In FY2010 which ended September 30th the US State Department resettled 4,884 Somalis (here) to towns near you.  The “teen” would-be bomber in Oregon was one of the refugees.

Also, after being closed for nearly two years, the US State Department is on the verge (has been on the verge for months and months!)  of resuming the fraud-ridden family reunification program that admitted as many as 36,000 Somalis fraudulently to the US between 2003 and 2008.  See the latest on new regulations, here.

Now, also, Somalis are coming illegally across our borders and ironically asking for asylum because of the radical Islamic Jihadists (including Americans!) in Africa.

Somali sentenced in Montana Amtrak terror threat

Posted by acorcoran on August 27, 2011

Unless you are a regular reader here, you probably never heard about this incident that happened last February.  No pictures on the nightly news showing 140 Amtrak passengers walking across a frozen pond after the Somali said there was a bomb on the train.  We reported the story here in April when he plead guilty.

The guy got 15 months and apparently no federal terrorism charges.

From Minnesota Public Radio:

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) – A Minnesota man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for a false threat that led to the evacuation of an Amtrak train in northern Montana in February.

Hussein Abdi Hassan, 24, of Minneapolis was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Sam Haddon on a federal charge of false information and hoaxes.

Prosecutors say Hassan was removed from an Amtrak train in Browning on Feb. 14 for being intoxicated and disruptive. He later told a deputy there was something dangerous in his bag and dangerous people on the train.

After the train was stopped and 140 passengers evacuated across a frozen pond, the train was searched for explosives. None were found. The threat delayed the train by 11 hours. Hassan also was ordered to pay $310,089 in restitution.  [How are they going to get this kind of money out of this guy---he will have to turn to dealing drugs or doing food stamp fraud.---ed]

No terrorism charges and no deportation here either it seems!  Obama Amnesty candidate?

Texas: another guilty plea by immigrant in food stamp scam

Posted by acorcoran on August 27, 2011

It’s the same old story, but interesting to note that ICE is involved so the guy must have some immigration ‘problems’ too:

From MMD Newswire:

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (MMD Newswire) August 26, 2011 – - The owner of a local supermarket pleaded guilty on Wednesday to defrauding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamp fraud, announced U.S. Attorney José Angel Moreno, Southern District of Texas. The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) with the assistance of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Inspector General.

Parviz Sheikh Rezaei, 56, the proprietor of the Pariz Dollar Supermarket was arraigned by U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen on Aug. 23. According to court documents, Rezaei repeatedly exchanged Lone Star card benefits from participants in the food stamp program for discounted amounts of cash. Then, he charged the government for the full value of the Lone Star card transaction. Some of those transactions were with undercover federal law enforcement agents.

“Today’s guilty plea is an example of the impact we can have when law enforcement combine their expertise,” said Jerry Robinette, special agent in charge of ICE HSI in San Antonio. “ICE HSI will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to aggressively investigate these cases and ensure that those who profit by taking advantage of others face justice for their crimes.”

He might go to jail for a few years but in light of Obama’s amnesty by fiat, he likely will never be deported.

Type ‘food stamp fraud’ into our search function and learn about dozens of other cases like this one.

Obama administration wants to “continue the conversation” on our “broken immigration system”

Posted by acorcoran on August 26, 2011

….blah, blah, blah!

Big problem is we have very different ideas on what exactly is broken.

This is an article I’ve had kicking around for over a week.  Nothing surprising here, but want to post it so as to not lose the link.  Earlier this month the Obama Administration had a chit-chat meeting in the White House with members of the African Diaspora.   They like that word “diaspora” because it makes it sound so what—chic, exotic, acceptable? to spread throughout the world like the Somalis have done and as reported in this Taki’s Magazine article I’ve also had kicking around in my queue for more than a few days.

From the Office of White House Public Engagement:

This past Friday (a couple of Fridays ago), White House and senior administration officials – including representatives from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Department of Education, and HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement – met with African community leaders to discuss immigration issues specific to the African immigrant and refugee population. The convening brought together leaders and advocates representing communities from the countries of Mauritania, Somalia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Guinea Bissau.

Cecilia Munoz, Director of White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, opened the forum and highlighted the challenges in fixing the legal immigration system and reassured the community leaders in the room of the President’s continued commitment to a legislative solution to fixing the broken immigration system.

Get your White House community organizing “tool kit.”

Stephanie Valencia, Deputy Director of the Office of Public Engagement, encouraged everyone in the room to help broaden the dialogue and elevate the debate by hosting immigration action roundtables in their own communities check out the roundtable toolkit to sponsor your own immigration roundtable.

After you have your local “immigration roundtable” turn in the names of those attending to help build for Obama’s reelection efforts (they don’t really say that, but they do want the attendees names).

For more on Obama’s “conversation” on “broadening the dialogue,” and “elevating the debate” about our “broken immigration system” go here, so we can “win the future.”  Blah, blah, blah…..
