Senator Rand Paul to get July Senate hearing on refugee terror screening

From the Bowling Green Daily news in the aftermath of Iraqi alleged terrorist arrests in Kentucky:

The office of U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., announced Thursday that Paul has secured a hearing through the Senate’s Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee to address concerns about visas and political asylum following the arrest of two Iraqi refugees on terrorism charges last month in Bowling Green.

The hearing, scheduled for July 13, will include state and Department of Homeland Security officials.

U.S. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Joe Lieberman, I-Conn. agreed to assist in scheduling the hearings, which will investigate procedures and safeguards for both visas and political asylum.

[RRW attended similar hearings before these same two Senators in March 2009 on possible Somali terrorists in the US and the hearings were frankly so Politically Correct to be meaningless.]

We gave them employment, homes and health care….

Waad Ramadan Alwan, 30, and Mohanad Shareef Hammadi, 23, were arrested May 25 in Bowling Green. A federal grand jury returned a 23-count indictment against the men May 26.

Both entered the country legally as Iraqi refugees, receiving publicly funded housing assistance and health care.

Paul:  Was someone asleep at the switch?

“So my question is, ‘Was someone asleep at the switch here?’ ” Paul said earlier this month about the men successfully gaining refugee status.

“Is it happening because we’re spending time searching millions of innocent Americans and wasting time on that and not doing a thorough job on those who are coming from these Middle Eastern countries, who I think need to be thoroughly vetted before they enter our country?” Paul asked.

At the news conference earlier this month, Paul also called into question the student visa program [it’s about time someone did!—ed] and questioned if lawmakers should declare a moratorium on student visas to make sure that the people obtaining them are thoroughly vetted before entering the country.

“Without a screening process for potential visa and refugees entering the United States, we put our country in grave danger,” Paul said in a statement Thursday. “The role of the federal government in the war on terror must include the ability to secure our borders and keep out those who wish to do us harm. I look forward to participating in these upcoming hearings.”

  1. I applaud Rand Paul but want to know why all these Middle Eastern Islamists were ever allowed to enter and settle here when their beliefs are to overtake and install their version of law? We are at war with them but cannot seem to grasp who and what we’re fighting. Bush called it a “religion of peace” – a BAD misnomer if there ever was one. Until we get realistic about this ideology, like we once were about communism, it will slip and slide through our gates and we will have a chaos like that presently in England. In fact, all of Europe has been disrupted. If these people had stayed in their countries of origin and worked as hard as the Israelis, they too would have better standards of living. That should have been obvious; they have a country, why not stay there and clean it up? Instead they want to come to America and once here install their failed methods of living and impose it on us.

    1. Tess! You are right! Obama wants these people here! They have been coming in for a long time! I agree with you on the religion. They have found guns in the mosque every place our Military went in Iraq and other countries. The Muslims are building the Mosque here and I wonder if they are stashing the guns to try and over take our country. The Muslims are coming in from the south borders. Many are illegals! Obama just found better way to get the Muslims here through an agency.
I am fed up with the situation! Fed up with how CA is paying for Welfare for people that are very capable of working.
I did get an e-mail, there is not illegals in MO. I am not sure how true this is but seems that MO has cut off all types of state benefits to illegals and no jobs for illegals. Laws are better than AZ. AZ is a mess! Why should any country be allowed to sue AZ over the illegal laws? The laws on illegals in Mexico is very strict. You better have you ID and pass port if you go to Mexico. They can stop you any time for check of ID and insurance.
Obama should be impeached! He is only causing more problems for our borders and safety for our country.

  2. This is great! I sent Boxer a letter this morning about the illegals and Refugees. Many of the illegals come here just to have a baby and then they are secure for Welfare and all the perts! Many school age kids are having babies so they can stay here, low income they get grants for education. They stay low income and keep having babies to stay on Welfare.

I know one woman, she is now on S.S disability. She has been on Welfare all her life. She even has a housekeeper! This is abuse of the system. She knows the system and someone in Welfare!! They sent her to school, our tax dollar, but she never got a job.

I am deaf, white American citizen and the government couldn’t help me. I had to create my own job, something I could do with out using a phone. I was able to support my kids. NO WELFARE! NO GRANTS FOR SCHOOL! I DON’T WANT TO GIVE MY SAVINGS TO SOMEONE WHO DON’T WANT TO WORK. I DON’T WANT OBAMA TO TELL ME HOW TO LIVE OR WHAT I CAN EAT. I AM FED UP WITH FREE LOADERS. ILLEGALS AND REFUGEES.

I hope that Rand Paul will introduce a bill for birthrights. If a person is illegal the child will also be illegal even if it is born in the U.S.A. No Welfare or perts. If they want an education they can use the money they send back to their country. The money that is probably used for guns to kill our Military.

How does these illegals and the refugees pay their way to South America and Cuba and then through Mexico? Who is supporting this illegal situation?

I am with Rand Paul! We are not safe and less safe now that our government has been able to allow one million dollars of guns to get into the hands of drug lords.
