What a coincidence, top refugee resettlement states coincide with most top illegal alien states!

Posted by Ann Corcoran on April 30, 2013

We reported recently that the following states are the Top Ten Refugee Resettlement States:

In 2012 Texas led the nation in the number of resettled refugees (not counting asylum seekers or those already granted asylum, and probably not the Cubans or Haitians otherwise Florida would be higher on the list); followed by California, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Arizona, Washington, and North Carolina.

We also heard that the Dems have a goal of turning Texas and Arizona from Red to Blue (maybe they have their eyes on Georgia too?).

Now check out this graphic of the top ten states for illegal aliens (hat tip: Cathy) and see that there is a fairly close overlap.  Seven of ten “top states” coincide.  But then again, maybe they are just the most “welcoming” states. (Nah!)

For new readers, if you type the name of a state into our search function, you will get a list of all the posts we’ve written on that state.

Tsarnaevs milked taxpayers for over $100,000 in benefits (asylees are welcome to welfare!)

Posted by Ann Corcoran on April 30, 2013

Bomber Mom, Zubeidat, poster girl for LEGAL immigrants on welfare?

Your tax dollars!

If you are not following the British press on the Boston Bombers, you might not be getting the full flavor of the Tsarnaev’s scams on you (the American taxpayer) in addition to learning more details about their murderous rampage in the name of Islam.  The Boston Herald has the story here.  But, here the UK Daily Mail has it laid out in a more interesting format.  Read the very thorough accounting of what the Tsarnaevs milked the US and the State of Massachusetts for!  Hat tip: Don Irvine on twitter.

I’m so sorry for the victims of the Tsarnaev terrorists, but honestly this horror has finally focused the public’s attention on our out-of-control system for asylum seekers.  Help make sure this program is reformed and get it (refugee and asylum sections) dumped from the Gang of Eight’s “comprehensive reform” bill now before the US Senate.  The bill will make it easier for more refugees and asylum seekers to get into the country, get permanent residency and ultimately citizenship.

Here is the UK Daily Mail story (emphasis mine):

The family of the Boston bombing suspects has received more than $100,000 in welfare benefits over the last decade, according to the Boston Herald.

Details of the benefits – which included cash, food stamps and housing assistance – are contained within more than 500 documents that were handed over from Massachusetts welfare officials to a committee of state lawmakers on Monday.

The documents have not been released publicly, but a person who has reviewed them told the Herald that the ‘breadth of the benefits the family was receiving was stunning.’

Apparently Mass. Rep. David Linsky pressured the state agencies to release the information over the head of Governor (and Obama pal) Deval Patrick saying the citizens have a right to know.

DEMOCRAT Mass. Rep. David Linsky: taxpayers have a right to know! Yes! and all citizens (in every state) should be demanding the same right to know about the extent of all refugee welfare use (not just in the case of terrorists)!

‘I can assure members of the public that this committee will actively review every single piece of information we can find because clearly the public has a substantial right to know what benefits, if any, this family or individuals accused of some horrific crimes were receiving,’ said Linsky, the committee’s chairman.

[….]

Welfare officials have been forced to divulge details of the aid that was paid out to the family of the bombing suspects.

Mass. Gov. Patrick Deval [Deval Patrick—ed] told state agencies last week that they should not discuss the details of what government assistance Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had received, citing privacy concerns.

Welfare information is not available for public release unless the person in question provides their consent, but it is available to lawmakers.

Massachusetts State Rep. David Linsky called on the state’s Department of Transitional Assistance to provide him with the information.

Linksy issued an ultimatum on Thursday to welfare officials, giving them 24 hours to provide the information.

The letter from Rep. Linsky was provided to the Boston Herald.

‘My office is working to fully comply with your request,’ DTA interim commissioner Stacey Monahan wrote in his report to Rep. Linsky, saying they were only providing a summary ‘given the great interest in this matter.’

In addition to the aid paid out to Tamerlan and his wife, both alleged bombers had benefited from welfare since their parents Anzor and Zubeidat Tsarnaev collected foodstamps and TAFDC – from 2002 to 2004 and again in 2009 to 2011.

Go to the full article for all the gory details.  However, keep in mind that they were granted LEGAL status in the US.  So, the next time you are tempted to say, “I’m o.k. with LEGAL immigration, it’s illegal I have a problem with!”, don’t say it, just zip it! because it shows how uninformed you are!

The Daily Mail wraps up:

Since the Tsarnaevs are Chechen immigrants, some wondered why they received aid. But the state agency explained that they were considered eligible for the public assistance.

‘The Tsarnaev parents were eligible to receive benefits as legal, non-citizen residents who were granted asylum status and met the basic eligibility criteria for DTA, including household income levels, presence of dependent children and other factors,’ the DTA interim commissioner Stacey Monahan said in a letter addressed to David Linsky, Chairman of the House Post Audit and Oversight Committee.

Contact your Members of Congress and US Senators and tell them it’s time to hold hearings on the refugee and asylum programs authorized under the Kennedy/Biden/Carter Refugee Resettlement Act of 1980 And, by all means strip out changes made to those programs in the Gang of Eight’s amnesty bill now!

Still waiting!  We are all still waiting breathlessly for the details on the Tsarnaev’s original application for asylum, and the application for family reunification—if you see details on those docs before me, please let me know!

This is our tenth post on the refugees who became the Boston Bombers.  Go here to see our archive.

Testimony to the US State Department from New Hampshire

Posted by Ann Corcoran on April 30, 2013

The US State Department will be holding its annual hearing on the “appropriate size and scope” of the refugee resettlement program on May 15th.  The meeting will be dominated by federal refugee contractors (LOL! disregard that ‘voluntary agency’ label, they are paid by you to resettle refugees) looking for a larger number and greater variety of refugees.  We urge concerned readers to send in testimony by May 8th (see my previous post for details).

Below is a testimony forwarded to my by Jeannine Richardson of New Hampshire.  See also testimony by John Williams of Texas, here.   You do not need to be an expert on the program or to write a tome—a few paragraphs will help greatly!

Ms. Richardson (emphasis RRWs):

Dear Representatives

My name is Jeannine Richardson and I am the President of Landlord Connection http://landlordconnection.com

We are a NH Company that offers rental history reports to landlords, property management companies and several housing authorities throughout the state of NH.  We have over 2,000 rental property owners/managers as our customers.

I can state that much of the government subsidized housing in NH is being taken by refugees leaving many lifelong NH residents on waiting lists of up to 4 years.  Many of these refugees have enormous trouble getting into the workforce and are competing with our residents for what few jobs are available. I suggest that a moratorium be in place unitl the time when our unemployment numbers fall below 5%.

My personal experience has been apartments left in disastrous conditions and after a few months, these refugees are abandoned by the agencies who brought them here.  The State of NH does not have the resources at this time to care for more refugees. As it is Manchester*** is dealing with overcrowding of its classrooms and is spending over $1million per year teaching English as a second language to people who speak 70 different languages.

The system is out of control and has turned into a moneymaking scheme for several non-profits in NH.

Here is a link to some information regarding these Refugee Agencies
http://american-rattlesnake.org/2012/01/the-fugees/

I’m tired of the “we are a nation of immigrants” myth as well. It’s an urban legend. Some of us have ancestors who were here over 350 years ago. How far back do we have to go? Is England a nation of immigrants too? After all, the Vikings landed there thousands of years ago. If I remember correctly the Romans and Saxons immigrated there too. There have been several periods in our history when immigration was stopped. In fact it should be stopped now but instead the pace has accelerated to over 2.5 million per year when historically the high point was 500,000. Since 2000, 30 million immigrants have arrived. That’s as many people as in all of Canada. I say enough already.

We don’t even have jobs for people already here so we want to bring in more competition? I know for a fact that the welfare rolls have increased because many of the disabled were working part time jobs as dishwashers, clean-up crews in restaurants, etc. Those jobs have been taken by these newcomers leaving the disabled with no opportunities. None of it makes sense to me. We are the third most populated country on the planet. Why do we import more people?

Some of these refugees who are allegedly fleeing somehow feel safe enough to visit their village for a month. In fact, the Manchester Union Leader featured a story of  last year who had gone home for a visit and his town had no water, when he returned to Manchester he told a group of nuns of their plight and they flew over there and  built a well for the village.

The refugee program is nothing more than a source of revenue from the Federal Government for these do-gooders. They are paid for each person they bring in while we are stuck paying for their airfare and everything else.I am tired of the scam being played by the UN on the American people.

I am hoping something can be done to stop the tremendous burden this is placing on Americans.

Sincerely and thank you for your time.

Jeannine Richardson

Your one chance to tell the US State Department what you think about refugee resettlement is coming up in May

Posted by Ann Corcoran on April 30, 2013

They want to know what you think the “appropriate size and scope” of the program should be for Fiscal year 2014.  (We are presently resettling an average of 70,000 refugees a year and many are coming from Islamic countries.)

If you have friends in the media, tell them to cover this hearing!

Here is my post from last week (I promised to repeat this every week until the deadline for testimony May 8th).

Readers this post is a repeat of one I wrote last week.  I promised to reprint this information every week until the deadline for testimony—May 8th—arrives.

You have virtually no voice in the decision about bringing refugees to America—where they come from and in what towns and cities they will be placed.  However, each year the US State Department hears mostly from federal resettlement contractors (nine major and approximately 300 subcontractors) to help them determine who (and how many) will be resettled.   The contractors have a vested interest because they are paid by the head (by you, the taxpayer) to resettle as many refugees as the State Department lets them have.

The State Department will be looking to set its (the President’s) goals for FY2014 on May 15th.

You can send testimony too!   Here is what you need to do, be sure to pay attention to the last part about copying your testimony to your elected officials.  (Your US Representatives and Senators have pretty much abrogated their roles in questioning this program.)

And, one last thing—The Boston Chechens were not the first refugee/asylee terrorists who have entered the US and been caught, just the most successful so far.

My post from last week:

Anne C. Richard, Asst. Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration—we love the UN!

Every week from now until May 8th, I’m going to repeat this post!

Do not be silent!

The US State Department holds a hearing, usually in May, largely populated by the refugee contractors telling sob stories and looking to boost the number and variety of refugees (not to mention the contractor’s income) to be admitted to the US in the upcoming fiscal year.  My report on last year’s hearing is here.

Last year, and maybe for the first time ever, critical comments outnumbered those looking to add more refugees to already overloaded cities and states.  Let’s do it again!

The whole Federal Register Notice is here.

The meeting’s purpose is to hear the views of attendees on the appropriate size and scope of the FY 2014 U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.

Your testimony can be long or short, detailed or general, but get something in by the deadline of 5 p.m. May 8th!

Address testimony to:   Anne C. Richard, Asst. Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration, US State Department, Washington, DC. 20037

Reference Federal Register Public Notice 8241

E-mail or fax to Delicia Spruell:

Persons wishing to present written comments should submit them by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 via email to spruellda@state.gov or fax (202) 453-9393.

Now listen-up, this is important!   If you don’t copy your testimony to your elected officials, you can be sure your testimony to the State Department will never see the light of day!

You must put cc at the bottom of your testimony and list the following:

~Your member of the House of Representatives  (look up their addresses!)

~Your US Senators

~Any elected officials in your state who may be interested

Also, send to (and list on your testimony):

~US Senate Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees and Border SecurityGo here for list of Subcommittee Members.  You will be listing and mailing to the Subcommittee, however, if your US Senator is on that subcommittee then please be sure they are listed prominently on the testimony you send to the State Department.  Mail to:  U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees and Border Security, 224 Dirksen Senate Office Building, Washington, DC 20510.  Mail your testimony to the Subcommittee even if your Senator is not on it!

~House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Immigration and Border SecurityGo here for a list of all the Subcommittees and see if your Member of Congress is on the Subcommittee.  But, even if he or she isn’t then still send your testimony here (addressed to the Subcommittee):  2138 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, DC 20515, p/202-225-3951.

When sending anything to your US Senators or Members of Congress always ask a question so that hopefully it forces them to answer your letter!  You might ask them to put pressure on the State Department to have this “hearing” held in several locations around the country!

If you plan to attend the hearing in Washington on May 15th (location and time details in my previous post), you need to let Ms. Spruell know by the same deadline.

Persons wishing to attend this meeting must notify the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration at telephone (202) 453-9257 by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, to reserve a seat.

Send me a copy of your testimony and indicate whether or not I have permission to publish it!

I made a special category for testimony last year, here.  So, check it out and see what others said last May.

Send copies to Ann@vigilantfreedom.com

For all posts relating to this hearing, go to our category entitled ‘Testimony for 5/15/2013 State Dept. meeting

A Texas reader has sent us his testimony, here, and it might be a good model to follow.  But, please give your own opinion, experiences, etc.   Politely!

Addendum:  Anne C. Richard revolved into her present position from the International Rescue Committee—what a coincidence!  Kinda cozy huh?

And, you thought the International Rescue Committee was just a bleeding heart NGO

Posted by Ann Corcoran on April 29, 2013

IRC:  We love Hamid Karzai!

Karzai receives his award from now outgoing CEO George Rupp whose taxpayer-funded salary and benefits exceeded $450,000 a year!

Yesterday I told you about how the World Socialist Web Site feels about the second largest of our US Refugee Resettlement contractors (the US Conference of Catholic Bishops is the largest)—the International Rescue Committee that brings on average 10,000 or more refugees a year to your towns and cities.

But, not only that, they muck around in the business of countries all over the world while you pay their salaries and fund their New York galas.

Below (posted yesterday) is what the World Socialists dug out on their finances in an article critical of the organizations choice of David Miliband to head up the multi-million dollar do-gooder operation.  I think it’s called doing well by doing good!*

According to a report on the IRC from Root Cause, a non-profit research and consulting firm, published in the Independent, only 14 percent of its funding came from private sources. Government grants and contracts, in contrast, accounted for 44 percent, foreign government grants and contracts 27 percent and 11 percent from UN agency grants and contracts. As its president, Miliband will receive £263,000 a year (US$400,000) plus £30,000 (US$52,000) from related groups—five times the salary he received as an MP.  [And, about equal to Rupp’s!—ed]

Today a reader sent me this list of the recipients of the IRC’s prestigious “freedom” award given each year, we are told, at a swanky black-tie event in NYC.  Look who they honored in 2002—none other than Afghanistan’s creepy and corrupt President Hamid Karzai!    Earlier awards went to George Soros and John McCain which tells us a lot!

But, what makes that old news so interesting is that our reader directs us to this Reuters story today:

CIA Bribes Karzai: Millions In ‘Ghost Money’ Paid To Afghanistan President’s Office, New York Times Reports

April 29 (Reuters) – Tens of millions of U.S. dollars in cash were delivered by the CIA in suitcases, backpacks and plastic shopping bags to the office of Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai for more than a decade, the New York Times says, citing current and former advisers to the Afghan leader.

The so-called “ghost money” was meant to buy influence for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) but instead fuelled corruption and empowered warlords, undermining Washington’s exit strategy from Afghanistan, the newspaper quoted U.S. officials as saying.

“The biggest source of corruption in Afghanistan”, one American official said, “was the United States.”

The CIA declined to comment on the report and the U.S. State Department did not immediately comment. The New York Times did not publish any comment from Karzai or his office.

“We called it ‘ghost money’,” Khalil Roman, who served as Karzai’s chief of staff from 2002 until 2005, told the New York Times. “It came in secret and it left in secret.”

So, either the IRC leaders are incredibly naive suck-ups, or, could they be the bag men?

Maybe that World Socialist Web Site is on to something when they suggest that the IRC’s “humanitarian” involvement in Afghanistan and elsewhere is just a pretty good cover:

The IRC’s charity status is used as a front behind which Washington pursues its strategic interests throughout the globe

Bottom line for us?  Why the hell should hardworking American taxpayers be paying for whatever they are doing—galas for the likes of Karzai, Soros and McCain, or CIA influence buying?

Is the IRC ‘working’ in your city?  Check out their US map here.   And, here is where they are working across the globe.

For new readers: there are presently nine major federal contractors and 300 or so subcontractors bringing refugees and working with asylum seekers in your towns.

One more thing!  I forgot to tell you!  The IRC is a pusher of the Gang of Eight amnesty billGo here and see how they have even drafted the message they want their groupies to send to Congress!  Could it be because there is more money for them and the potential for more ‘clients’ to resettle if the bill becomes law.

*There is actually a song called The Old Dope Peddler which includes these lines:

It’s the old dope peddler

Doing well by doing good.

Kind of schmaltzy but appropriate when considering Karzai, don’t you think?  Listen!

Al-Hijra: The Islamic Doctrine of Immigration, get it and read it!

Posted by Ann Corcoran on April 29, 2013

In the last 24 hours over 50 readers of RRW clicked on my suggestion to go to Amazon and get the little book that explains what is happening and why Muslim immigrants are flooding western countries—it’s not that they are looking primarily for a better life (a job, a house, a car) it’s because their “faith” instructs them to change the world according to Mohammad’s instruction.

Go here, get the book and read it!   (note I have no deal with Amazon or the authors!).

Modern Day Trojan Horse: Al-Hijra, The Islamic Doctrine of Immigration, Accepting Freedom or Imposing Islam? [Paperback]
Sam Solomon (Author), E Al Maqdisi (Author)

I’m wondering if Muslim leaders throughout the US were furious with the Boston Bomber Brothers because the plan is to take us over through our political process and every time someone like Tamarlan Tsarnaev goes off the reservation (because he can’t wait for the long-term plan) and kills innocent people, it sets their agenda back again.  (Although as authors Solomon and Maqdisi tell us there is a terrorism/violence component to Mohammed’s original design).

White House petition to halt all Muslim immigration

Posted by Ann Corcoran on April 29, 2013

Update April 30th:  Well, this is strange.  The little counter hasn’t moved since I signed the petition yesterday.  I did see it moving up during the day as readers here (and elsewhere must have signed it).  This morning I see it’s at 3,220!  Could the White House be pulling a Marco Rubio and stopping its count?  Are you getting that 3,220 figure today too?

Yesterday a reader (Joseline) commenting to the Laura Ingraham post, alerted us to a White House petition to Stop all Islamic immigration into the US.

Tell Obama what you think about Muslim immigration.  And, to get his feet off the desk!

If you agree with Laura Ingraham and me, go here (scroll down list) and sign it!

Here is the text of the petition:

In the wake of the Newtown shootings, the Obama administration thought they should overstep their Constitutional authority to impose gun control. Now in light of the Boston bombings and the direct ties to Islam, I’m calling on the administration to stop all Islamic immigration into the US.

Mr. Obama and others quote Qur’an 5:32, which is about the people of Israel, but NEVER quote the next verse which is about Muslims and indicates the real threat of Islam.

Islam is not a religion of peace. It is a totalitarian, political death cult and as such is not compatible with American culture.

As of this moment, 3,221 people have signed the petition and it needs (only LOL!) 96,780 more by May 22nd!

If you are saying to yourself, I agree but I will then be on some White House hit list—who cares!  Don’t be a (click here)!

Please tweet this out and put it on your facebook page!

Best day ever at RRW yesterday!

Posted by Ann Corcoran on April 29, 2013

We are a small blog on a rather arcane subject that gets a moderate number of readers from day to to day (until the Tsarnaev ‘refugee’ brothers bombed Boston and since then our number of readers has steadily increased).   Yesterday we had a record-breaking number of 3,708 readers.

Granted over 2000 went to one post—Laura Ingraham calls for halt to Muslim immigration—demonstrating the power of social media (facebook in this case).   The next two top posts following far behind were the Diversity is Strength alert from Wisconsin and the Minneapolis intimidation and harassment post.

If you are a new reader here, we started writing this blog (a charitable enterprise) in 2007 when Mesketian Turks/Russian Muslims were brought to our rural county in Maryland by the Virginia Council of Churches (subcontractor of major federal contractor Church World Service).   We, blog partner Judy and other women friends, just wanted to figure out how that could be done with no approval process by local elected officials or consultation with the citizens who were told we must be “welcoming.”   It is a very long story (chronicled in our category entitled ‘September Forum’), but the bottomline is that here we are, going on to our 6th anniversary in July, still trying to understand the refugee and asylum process in America (and the world!) and trying to educate you.

You can see from the categories on the left hand column how busy we have been—there are 1,500 posts on Muslim refugees alone!   We are approaching the 1.5 million visitor mark and have written 4,626 posts in all.  We have readers from all over the world.

If you don’t find a topic among our categories that interests you, we have a great search function.  Type in a couple of search words and presto you will likely find something that you want to learn more about.

And be sure to check the TOP POSTS in the right hand sidebar every day to see what posts most readers are finding of interest.  Sometimes it’s a post that is several years old because the topic has suddenly become relevant.

I apologize that our fact sheet (on the header) is out of date, but those mundane chores—updating a fact sheet (yuk!)—are hard to do when every day there are so many news stories begging to be reported.  Also, I’m not very good at responding to comments (I’ll try harder).  And, I stink at keeping up our facebook page, but have recently started tweeting, so follow me—Ann C @Refugee Watcher.

And, thanks for visiting RRW!

So what are the Socialists saying about David Miliband as the head of US refugee contractor?

Posted by Ann Corcoran on April 28, 2013

That would be the International Rescue Committee (one of the top nine federal contractors ) which, with much fanfare, hired the former British Foreign Secretary and pal of Tony Blair, David Miliband, to head one of the largest resettlement contractors bringing refugee “workers” to your towns and cities.  We reported the news here on March 27th.

Miliband yukking it up with Hillary!

Pay attention Leftwingers!  If you think the “humanitarian” refugee program is all about good works—helping the poor and the downtrodden and all that—think again!

This story is nearly a month old, but since I’m not in the habit of reading  the World Socialist Web Site, it only just now arrived in my inbox thanks to reader Jim who spotted it.

Get a load of this!

Socialists say the IRC is a front for imperialists!  No kidding!

David Miliband, older brother of Labour Party leader Ed Miliband and former foreign secretary, is stepping down as the MP for South Shields and taking over the job as head of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in New York.

The IRC website states, “The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 22 US cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home.”

In his new job, Miliband will be playing a “role in the political intrigues of British and US imperialism” says WSWS.

The IRC’s charity status is used as a front behind which Washington pursues its strategic interests throughout the globe. It boasts a board of governors that includes former United Nations secretary general Kofi Annan and no fewer than three former US secretaries of state—Henry Kissinger, Madeleine Albright and Condoleezza Rice. Sponsors come from among the wealthiest and most powerful of the financial elite, including Pepsi, Intel and McKenzie.  [Maybe we could find a meat packer to throw in the mix as well!—ed]

[Readers please note that Socialists/Lefties George Soros and Samantha Power have also been on the IRC board or have close ties to the organization, here.  Don’t try to put this in the Left-Right framework.  What might the common thread be—money, power, ruling class status? a disdain for the regular folks?  All of the above!–ed]

The IRC covers many of the geographical areas Miliband became involved with while at the Foreign Office in the UK—South Sudan, Afghanistan, Iraq, the Palestinian Authority, Sierra Leone and Sri Lanka—where both the US and Britain have extensive business and geo-strategic interests.

The majority of the IRCs funding comes from government sources (that would be you!).  Miliband will make a larger salary than the President of the United States.

At the Foreign Office, Miliband oversaw an organisation employing 14,000 staff across 270 diplomatic offices. The IRC may be smaller, but its international reach is greater. It operates in more than 40 countries and within the US itself, with offices in 22 American cities.

The IRC has an operating revenue of around $390 million. A look at where the majority of its funding comes from gives an indication of whose interests it serves.

By the way, the refugee resettlement industry in the US is a billion dollar a year industry—a billion that we know of!

IRC:  Independent?  Or, hidden political agenda?

There has been criticism over the appointment by those who believe it will risk the IRC being exposed as an instrument of Anglo-American foreign policy. The Observer reports Michiel Hofman of Médecins Sans Frontières saying it could make dealing with groups such as the Taliban more difficult. “Assertions by humanitarian organisations that they are fully independent, there are no hidden political agenda, slowly wither away,” he said.

David Miliband Limited!

When interviewed, he appears as a petulant schoolboy waiting for something bigger and better to come along. In the meantime, he has turned his hand to making considerable amounts of money. He has reportedly amassed almost £1 million through public speaking engagements such as the recent lecture he gave in Abu Dhabi, for which he received £25,000. He set up a company, The Office of David Miliband Limited, which right-wing commentator Toby Young has attacked as a tax-avoidance scheme through which his non-parliamentary earnings are channelled.

You know what scares me about the article (read it all!)—I find myself agreeing with much in this report at the World Socialist Web Site!  Ahhhhhhhh!

The photo is from this 2009 story in the Guardian which asserts ‘Hillary has a crush on Miliband.’

Read this surprisingly frank ‘investigative’ report from the Minneapolis Star Tribune on the latest city political caucus in a precinct now heavily Somali-populated.   We reported on an earlier caucus meeting here ten days ago. Is the Star Tribune beginning to see the light?    Hat tip: Randy

Star Tribune:

Hundreds of East African immigrants cheered and waved when Minneapolis City Council candidate Abdi Warsame took the microphone last week at a DFL caucus across from Riverside Plaza. Shoppers congratulated him as he walked through a Somali mall a few days later, past the bright scarves and carpets for sale.

On the surface, it is a happy tale: the city’s Somalis, denied democracy in their homeland, uniting to elect one of their own to the council.

This reminded me of an old post from way back on September 12th, 2008 where we published a detailed discussion written by a reader (Avi) who described the “quiet Jihad” going on in Minnesota.

Why so many Somalis in Minneapolis?  That is the title of one of our top posts almost every day since I first wrote it on January 21, 2011.  Thank the US State Department and three of the nine major federal contractors—Lutheran Social Services, Catholic Charities (USCCB) and World Relief.

You have one chance this year to tell the State Department what should happen with refugee resettlement in FY2014, please read this and do it!
