18 US Mayors tell Obama: We want MORE Syrian (Muslim) refugees!

Posted by Ann Corcoran on September 26, 2015

This story is from Syracuse, NY, but it is all about a letter 18 mayors sent to Obama telling him that they want MORE Syrian refugees now!

Remember Syracuse is the city that saw a beautiful Catholic Church become a mosque.  I’m guessing the mayor wants to see more of that because the majority of the Syrians to be admitted to the US through the UN are Sunni Muslims.   Kind of ironic that they penned this letter when the Pope was here.  Does he want more Muslims to take over more Catholic Churches worldwide?

Clearly Catholic Charities and Mayor Miner of Syracuse do!

From Syracuse.com:

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Mayor Stephanie Miner is one of 18 mayors encouraging President Barack Obama to accept additional Syrian refugees into the United States.

Mayor Stephanie Miner: “[I]…urge you to increase still further the number of Syrian refugees the United States will accept for resettlement.” Photo: http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2012/10/syracuse_mayor_stephanie_miner_30.html

Miner signed a letter, sent to Obama, that calls for an increase of the number of refugees the U.S. will accept in the next two years. Obama has already pledged to take 10,000 Syrian refugees and increase the overall refugee allowance to 100,000 by 2017.

“Our cities have been transformed by the skills and the spirit of those who come to us from around the world,” the letter reads. “The drive and enterprise of immigrants and refugees have helped build our economies, enliven our arts and culture, and enrich our neighborhoods.”

All 18 mayors are members of Cities United for Immigration Action, a coalition pushing for immigration reform. Along with Miner, mayors from Los Angeles, New York City, Pittsburgh, Boston and Chicago signed the letter. [I bet if you dug into this group, you would find it another George Soros-funded group.—ed]

Syracuse currently accepts between 1,100 and 1,200 refugees each year. Two organizations — Catholic Charities of Onondaga County and Interfaith Works CNY — resettle refugees in Syracuse.

“We have taken in refugees, and will help make room for thousands more,” the letter reads.”

See the letter at Syracuse.com.  And here are the 18 cities which need new mayors!

Ed Pawlowski, Mayor of Allentown, PA
Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Mayor of Baltimore, MD
Martin J. Walsh, Mayor of Boston, MA
James Diossa, Mayor of Central Falls, RI
Mark Kleinschmidt, Mayor of Chapel Hill, NC
Rahm Emanuel, Mayor of Chicago, IL
Edward Terry, Mayor of Clarkston, GA
Nan Whaley, Mayor of Dayton, OH
Domenick Stampone, Mayor of Haledon, NJ
Pedro E. Segarra, Mayor of Hartford, CT
Eric Garcetti, Mayor of Los Angeles, CA
Betsy Hodges, Mayor of Minneapolis, MN
Bill de Blasio, Mayor of New York City, NY
Jose Torres, Mayor of Paterson, NJ
William Peduto, Mayor of Pittsburgh, PA
Javier Gonzales, Mayor of Santa Fe, NM
Francis G. Slay, Mayor of St. Louis, MO
Stephanie A. Miner, Mayor of Syracuse, NY

Be sure to check out the hundreds of comments this story generated.  I skimmed some and it sure looks like Mayor Miner’s constituents aren’t too thrilled by her invitation.

If you live in any of those 18 cities be sure the citizens there know what their mayor is doing.

Addendum:  I just remembered, you can go to this post from a few days ago to see if your city is already getting Syrian Muslims. Note to Catholic Charities, of the 1,700 plus Syrians who were admitted to the US so far, 43 were Christians and there was 1 (one!) Catholic in the bunch.

  11. Are people stupid or just blind? I would have to lean towards the former than the latter. That’s all we need are these terrorists in N America. The easiest border to cross is between Canada and US. Look at this picture on the article. Do these men look like they are trying to escape from something? The looks on their faces is that of a kid in a candy store.
Did everyone forget what ISIS said about coming into Europe as refugees?
Some news agencies, very few, have been calling this for what it is.
Our own mainstream news has kept this part silent and tooting the liberal horn of blaming Europe for not taking them in. Let the surrounding middle east countries take them in, they’re much closer.
How about the millions of displaced Ukrainian families that Russia has caused? Where is the aid for them? What ever Russia touches, turns to crap. WAKE UP

How many of the mayors are Democrats? (FYI: I’m an independent voter that leans toward those Republicans who take seriously the Founding Fathers’ idea of limited government and curtailed spending.)

So where is the exalted Jeff Sessions? Or Trey Gowdy? Obama’s solution is to raise the debt ceiling another 3.5 trillion so he can maintain the free stuff pipeline. The comment about Chicago stole my thunder. There’s a city on the precipice, or over it, and Emanuel is still pimping for more refugees. Amazing.

Here in the UK in the small town in which I live the immigrant population has expanded out of all proportion to its size and in the trains which arrive regularly through the day from London it is rare to see a member of the indigenous population.
We have a most beautiful Art Centre centred which is located in a beautiful quaint Queen Anne building which was once part of an old farm and the grounds are a small tree lined parkland.
I have the pleasure of teaching and tutoring there three times a week. Tea and toast and handicraft classes are freely available to all at a minimal cost. Exhibitions and theatre performances are organised regularly, with garden theatre performances through the year. I have had the pleasure of being a member of this community of artists since I retired about eight years ago.
OK, OK, I am coming to the point!
Out of the many hundreds of visitors over the course of the years I suppose I have seen maybe a dozen ‘new arrivals’ at these wonderful events. There is not more than a couple of ‘immigrants’ who are members of ANY of the many groups who populate this oasis of culture. So, as far as enhancing, contributing or supporting the artistic community I am afraid the ‘multicultural’ newcomers are avoiding this haven as though it were totally Ebola-ridden.
No evidence whatsoever of immigrant youngsters, teenagers or parents – but on reflection – I ask myself – what am I missing? Their contribution towards enhancing our ‘culture’ must be some kind of underground movement of which I am totally unaware, which perhaps will show itself in due course…………..or not?

    • I lived in an area where some settled into a big, new complex, parallel to the mani street. Rarely did you see them out..
In another area, those from Handcock NY only American women dressed in head coverings went to stores with their children. People never saw their ME husbands with them..and they were on social services…

Why on earth would Chicago want more refugees? The city is bankrupt and facing a massive property tax increase. Crime is rampant. Chicago is a sanctuary city with thousands of illegal immigrants already. I wonder how the current gangs will react to Syrian Muslims. And Rahm is Jewish.

They have it in their heads that diversity is going to bring economic prosperity and it makes no sense. The same could be said of Baltimore, which I have mentioned a lot… during the riots this spring, the African American gangs were directing their destruction on immigrant run stores—they don’t want the diversity either!

THANK YOU FOR PUBLISHING THIS LIST, I AM SURE THERE ARE MANY MORE. I KNOW THE MAYOR OF ATLANTA, WHO IS A BILDERBERGER, WANTS ATLANTA TO BE A SANCTUARY CITY. I LIVE HERE IN SANDY SPRINGS, GA, WHICH WAS ONCE A PART OF ATLANTA, BUT BECAME IT’S OWN CITY. STILL IT IS ALL THE SAME. LUCKY ME, I GET TO FEEL THE PAIN TOO. GEORGIA HAS THE HIGHEST UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, AND PRIOR TO THE REFUGEES THE CHURCHES AND SYNAGOGUES CAN NOT KEEP UP WITH ASSISTANCE, WE ARE BECOME THE EVICTION CAPITAL OF THE WORLD, EVERYDAY MOST OF US ARE LOOKING FOR HELP FROM SOMEWHERE, AND THRIFT STORE SOMETIMES HAVE SALES, SO PEOPLE CAN COME IN AND PURCHASE ITEMS. FOOD DRIVES ARE DIFFICULT. AT OUR APARTMENT COMPLEX, WE HAVE HAD AN ICE CREAM SOCIAL, THOSE OF US WHO BRING IN FIVE CAN GOODS CAN GET ICE CREAM AND WAS ELIGIBLE TO BE PLACED IN A DRAWING FOR $50.00 OFF NEXT MONTH’S RENT. IT COULD BE WORSE, THEN AGAIN, NO NEED TO PREDICT THE FUTURE, IT WILL GET WORSE. WE CAN ALL BE FORTUNE TELLERS AS WE KNOW THE OUTCOME TO BE.
