SC Senator Lindsey Graham advances bill to bring in MORE Syrian refugees, more quickly

Posted by Ann Corcoran on October 10, 2015

Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, is also a contender for the Republican nomination for President.  He joins Far Left Senator Patrick Leahy in his efforts to get the Syrians in here faster.

Every time I see Graham, a proud member of the Gang of Eight on amnesty two years ago, I wonder whether Graham influences Rep. Trey Gowdy.  Does Gowdy share Graham’s position on immigration?

How closely does Graham monitor the activities of South Carolina Rep. Gowdy who has been dragging his feet on holding any hearing on the Refugee Admissions Program in the subcommittee (which he chairs!) responsible for Refugee Program oversight?

(A hearing was scheduled and postponed in the full House Judiciary Committee last week, but Gowdy, as subcommittee chairman, has been silent, and as such a disappointment, on the Syrian refugee question. If anyone has seen Gowdy raise concerns about bringing Syrians to America and his state, please send a news report my way and I will stand corrected.)

And, Mr. Gowdy, how about a hearing on the Babin bill that has 22 co-sponsors as of this writing?  Gowdy is not one of them!

I digress, here is the news about Lindsey Graham and his pal Leahy.

From The Hill (hat tip: Joanne).  Emphasis is mine:

A bipartisan pair of senators — including one presidential candidate — is pushing forward with an emergency spending bill to help strengthen the administration’s ability to combat the Syrian refugee crisis.

Sens. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) have rolled out legislation that would provide an extra $1 billion in emergency funding, mandating that the White House tell Congress within 45 days how it will use the money.

[….]

Dozens of Senate Democrats backed a letter from Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) [Hey, does Chris Murphy do the bidding of CAIR-CT too?—ed] earlier this week calling for an emergency spending bill. That letter was sent to Leahy and Graham, as well as Sens. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) and Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.), the top two members on the Appropriations Committee. [Mikulski here—ed]

But FBI Director James Comey said Thursday that there are “gaps” in the screening process for bringing Syrians into the United States.

“There is risk associated of bringing anybody in from the outside, but specifically from a conflict zone like that,” he told members of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Graham, who is running for president, quickly came out in support of accepting more Syrian refugees after a photo of a drowned Syrian child went viral and sparked international outrage earlier this year.  [He fell for the propaganda photo!—ed]

His position pits him against not only many of his Republican colleagues, but also other 2016 presidential contenders. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who is also running for president, said earlier this week that President Obama’s plan to accept additional Syrian refugees was “nothing short of crazy.”

The Graham-Leahy bill also requires that Secretary of State John Kerry describe what security vetting refugees would have to undergo before being accepted into the country.  [We already know they can’t screen the Syrians!—ed]

How many times have you heard Lindsey Graham say on TV that “if we don’t do something over there, the terrorists will be here!” So how can he so blithely, in the face of testimony by the FBI director, still advocate getting more Syrians here faster?

I don’t understand, what is this constant need for moral debates. These are not people in need, they need not be rescued, they are not anyone’s moral responsibility, they need not be pitied, they are not refugees. Hell in the eyes of the universe they’re not even human. They are the dregs of humanity. They’re muslim.

How many times do i have to repeat myself, before everyone finally gets it? Islam is not a religion, it is not a belief, it is not a faith, it is not a guideline for a better existence. It is anti-human. It is an active cult in it’s most evil form that destroys life and hope for any future. It is strictly based on MALE ego. Nothing more and nothing less. Their only lofty goal is enslavement. Their minds cannot be changed. They’re Muslim. Whether they’re moderate or radical, They worship Islam. That’s what they do. Islam/sharia is a cancer. It cannot exist side by side with any other. This culture WILL destroy your hard won freedoms for generations to come.

  8. This will insure the United States of America will be economically broke as was the plan from 2001 from the terrorists. It will insure Sharea Law will be closer to being implemented over the Constitution and will make the American way of life as we once knew it nill and void. We will be a subject of workers for other countries needs. We will be borrowers and no more lenders. The whole system as once was incorporated from the Bible, will change to the Koran and many will die who oppose it.

The DemonRAT leftists and RINO’s say the U.S. needs to take in Syrian refugees. WHY? Why must the U.S. take them in? Especially when the Arab states, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, the UAE, are not taking in any as well as Russia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and China. Nevertheless, Hussein Obama said the U.S. will take in 10,000 to start with. Already twenty-nine have arrived in St. Louis with twenty more to come shortly. St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay said he welcomes them and is willing to take up to 1500 Syrian refugees.
Taking in these refugees is a very dangerous proposition to this country. How are they vetting these individuals? What are they doing to make sure terrorists are not among them? Director of National Intelligence James Clapper is concerned with ISIS terrorists infiltrating the refugees. Every American should have that concern. Unfortunately, that will not stop the STUPID RINO’s and DemoRATS led by Hussein Obama to let these refugees flood the country with probably no vetting. Another question is will these Syrian refugees assimilate to the American culture? I think not. Then there is how will the refugees help out this country? What benefit do they bring to this country? I say let the Arab Nations deal with the situation, instead of bringing the problem to our shores and possibly endangering U.S. citizens. The primary responsibility of the Federal Government is to protect its citizens from an invasion. This would be an invasion and any politician supporting this invasion would be guilty of treason.

The DIRECTOR of the FBI testified in Congress just this past week that the Syrians cannot be screened. No data on them!

  11. As the economy has not bloomed as hoped, Hussein Obama’s plan to bring in 200,000 new refugees from Syria and cost will be past on to state and local taxpayers. This will place a financial strain on state and local taxpayers. Food, Shelter, healthcare, schools will need to provide more services. Not to mention that the beginning of the school year; as new refugees children attend our schools, our children will be exposed to new viruses or new strains of those viruses. Don Barnett, a fellow with the Center for Immigration Studies, describes refugee resettlement as a “secretive” and lucrative business for “non-profits” who operate with little coordination with state and local communities. The Select Commission on Immigration and Refugee Policy noted, “Many state and local officials are concerned that the costs of resettlement assistance will continue beyond the period of federal reimbursement and that the burden of providing services will then fall upon their governments.” The Heritage Foundation estimates the total lifetime cost of government benefits at $6.5 billion per 10,000 refugees.

  12. Graham is one of many idiots that thinks ‘radical Islam’ has no foundation in Islam. It’s like there is a totally separate koran for radical islam and the koran for islam is not full of hate and urges believers to destroy the unbelievers. How stupid is that?

It’s actually spelled “RINO” which means “Republican In Name Only” – please use the correct spelling so that we don’t look any more stupid than what the left/ Democrats see. RINOs are prevalent in the GOP, you’ve seen Boehner being a RINO, and now that McCarthy bowed out, because he is a RINO, he knew the publicity he was getting that his constituents called him out on it; and then we have Sen. RINO McConnell, and Sen. RINO Rubio with the “Gang of Eight”….until we more educated voters can vote these RINOs out of our Congress, we will continue to have RINOs who don’t listen to their voters. It has to be up to us voters to vote RESPONSIBLY and CONSERVATIVELY the next time we vote for these congressional seats. We have to open up the eyes of the low-information voters are are so ignorant to these RINOs, they only vote for name recognition and that is a dangerous way to vote! Get into a group or form a group of your own, or do something to educate the voters….because they know how stupidly we vote and they count on that!!

  16. With the flooding disaster now in SC, why would they want to add to the burden in SC right now? It is not logical.

    • What does “logical” have to do with this government, or anyone in it. Just by everything being so illogical, we can see what they are trying to do. Collapse the United States. And it’s working for them, while we sit around waiting for something to make sense.

Thanks, Noel, for reminding some of us on that. I was about to post nearly the same thing and then saw your comment. I wrote a letter to Gov Haley (whom also had approved of these migrators, which is what they really are, and are NOT “displaced” or NOT “refugees”!) after we had the horrific rains spilling buckets of liquid all over SC; and the destruction to a lot of roads was the result, and then people who were evac’d out of their homes and those of whom lost their homes….they just became the new “refugees” of SC, and I told Nikki Haley that in a letter. I’m waiting for a response yet, but as you said, Graham and the likes of him and Nikki Haley don’t seem so concerned over that, or else they are UN-concerned or they are being threatened to be unconcerned about their own citizens! That should be the Gov’s FIRST service..TO HER CITIZENS of the State….NOT these refugees who are NOT refugees at all, but are “Hijrah migrants” as this wonderful lady who started this website, Ann Corcoran who began her quest to fully inform all of us, calls them. So, I’m going to write another one to Gov Haley, like the first, and ask her if she really cares about her SC citizens more than these “refugees”….and you and others ought to also write to her….like FLOOD her mailbox full of these questions, concerns, and protests of these migrants coming here!! How are we supposed to PAY for them to stay here?! We have to FIX OUR ROADS!!! We have to help REBUILD those who lost homes to rebuild to help them! We have to fix our entire infrastructure from further damage like we just had and NOW we have to worry about these “migrant refugees”?!! I asked her the first time that it isn’t FAIR that she pay attention to these “refugees” when she actually has SC Citizens as the new “refugees” and that should be her FIRST assistance….to her citizens! I hope I get a reply…but you need to get others to write the same letter to her, too. The more she gets like this, the more she will start to rethink about what she and Graham are doing. Please do so as early as you can. —– Thanks, and good luck.
