Writer calls Lutheran Social Service of MN booklet on Islam, “fantasy Islam”

Posted by Ann Corcoran on March 4, 2016

Dr. Stephen Kirby writing at Frontpage Magazine analyzed the 61-page booklet prepared by one of the major federal refugee resettlement contractors, ‘My Neighbor is Muslim, Exploring the Muslim Faith,’ and tells us the shocking news that they relied on an Imam with highly questionable ties for the ‘enlightenment’ of naive Minnesotans about the goals of their “new neighbors.”

Jodi Harpstead is the CEO of LSS of MN and as such is responsible for the deceptive booklet. She is making over $300,000 a year to seed St. Cloud and other Minnesota towns with Somali Muslims. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.wordpress.com/2015/03/26/lutheran-social-service-of-minnesota-is-responsible-for-the-somali-chaos-in-st-cloud/

In 2015 the Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota produced a 61 page booklet titled My Neighbor is Muslim, Exploring the Muslim Faith. The purpose of the booklet was to enable Lutherans to learn about Islam in order to better understand their “new neighbors” who were arriving as refugees.

Kirby then lays out his argument in great specificity (read it all!) and wraps up with this:

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota created a booklet seeking to educate non-Muslims about Islam and encouraging them to have a welcoming attitude toward Muslim refugees coming into their neighborhoods. Ironically, the Muslim imam selected to endorse this booklet appears to be a Hamas supporter, believes that Shariah Law should be enforced in American communities where Muslims are the majority, heads one of two mosques that have been the focus of articles about Somali youth leaving Minneapolis to fight for a terrorist organization, and was recently refused a government security clearance. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Part 2 will look at how Islam is presented in this booklet.  [watch for it!—ed]

  2. I served as a Lutheran parish pastor for 5 years, and as an editor for a Lutheran publishing house for nearly 8 years.

And let me tell you–the booklet on Islam is not only pro-Islam, it is also anti-Lutheran and anti-Christian!

The authors, chiefly from Luther College, equate the Christian faith with the Muslim faith. In other words, the authors pretend that Christians and Muslims worship the same God! How can this be, since Muslims explicitly reject the Holy Trinity and the deity of Jesus Christ!

Further, the authors also explicitly bypass the sacrificial (bloody) atonement of our Lord Jesus Christ. Traditional Christian teaching is that God required a blood sacrifice to atone for all the world’s sins, and only a perfect sacrifice (i.e., His only-begotten Son, true God and true man) would do. Jesus’ blood literally cleanses us from all sin.

But the false teachers writing this booklet on Islam completely sidestep that.

Score? Islam +1, Christianity (and Lutheranism) -1.

Way to go, false teaching Lutherans!

  6. Lutheran in name only…it should read ELCA Synod, as they have taken over all of the social service agencies doing the resettlements! There are 3-4 conservative Synods that are not into the liberal ways! Just saying that there are those of us that believe in the Bible as it is written, and don’t re write on a need to use and get what they want!

I would try to distance myself from the Leftwing political activists operating as Lutherans and be sure your fellow congregants understand the difference and don’t get suckered by them.

  7. Islam the religion of peace??
A British imam gave a television interview this week in which he defended acts of terror, including the beheading of foreign journalists, as consistent with the teachings of the Koran, Breitbart News blogger John Sexton reported.

London-based cleric Anjem Choudary told Russia Today that “terrorizing the enemy is in fact part of Islam” in an interview with the English-language RT news program, “Worlds Apart.”

Choudary cited a passage of the Koran that calls for Muslims to use “steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah.”

“So terrorizing the enemy is in fact part of Islam,” Choudary said. “I mean this is something that we must embrace and understand as far as the jurisprudence of Islam is concerned.”

I have a copy of the guide for the propaganda “My Neighbor is Muslim” and it is so Anti-American, anti-Christian that Karl Marx couldn’t have done any better. It is so full of lies and half-truths you’d think Islam was going to save the planet and we only need to “welcome” it!!! And pigs fly….oops, I mean dogs….oops, I mean some kind of animal they approve of. Are there any?
