Trump Watch! Did Trump cave and agree to take Australia’s rejected asylum seekers?

Posted by Ann Corcoran on January 29, 2017

I sure hope Reuters has this wrong!

If it is true it is truly insane!

For new readers, in the waning months of the Obama Administration, Obama made a deal with Australian Prime Minister Turnbull to take off their hands somewhere between 1000-2000 migrants being held in detention on offshore islands.

Australia does not want to give them asylum and bring them to their mainland, but Obama thought it was a swell idea for them to be distributed to American cities and towns!

In 2015 the little darlings burned down the detention center on Nauru. And we are going to take some of these detainees to your towns and cities? Awful story and photo here:

We are told by Reuters that Trump agreed to honor the deal in a phone call with the Australian prime minister yesterday.

Again, Australia does not want these mostly Muslim illegal aliens who attempted to reach Australia by boat!

(See our past posts on the ‘Australia deal’ here.)

Here is Reuters:

President Donald Trump has confirmed that his administration will honor a refugee resettlement deal with Australia, a source close to the Australian government said on Sunday.

Trump spoke by telephone with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull earlier on Sunday, officials in both countries said, one of a number of conversations the new U.S. president held with world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The Australian government source told Reuters Trump confirmed the deal to resettle asylum seekers currently held in offshore detention camps to the United States would go ahead.

Former U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration had said the United States would take a substantial number of the 1,200 asylum seekers, who are held in the procession centers on remote Pacific islands in Papua New Guinea and Nauru, after Turnbull agreed to resettle refugees from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

U.S. Homeland Security officials have begun assessing the asylum seekers, although it was unclear when those found to be genuine refugees would be resettled. [Australia obviously found none who are legitimate refugees!—ed]

Many of those in Australia’s offshore camps have fled conflict in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and elsewhere.

Senator Grassley and Rep. Goodlatte identified the nationalities as the following: Iran, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq, Sudan and “stateless” (probably Rohingya), here.

So what kind of a deal is this Donald?

We get Australia’s rejected asylum seekers (house, feed, clothe them on our dime) and a bunch of illegal aliens not even in the US from Central America being held in Costa Rica go to Australia.  What do we get out of that deal???

I’m guessing there is a strong caveat that Reuters may not want to focus on and that is that the ‘refugees’ must get through our surely stepped-up security screening when they clearly didn’t get through Australia’s.

Just in case….

You might want to let the White House know what you think by clicking here.

Turns out Australia’s “prime minister” and Australia’s Washington Ambassador have been caught lying to the media!
Claiming they had Trump eating out of their hand. When in fact it was the opposite

Regarding the Trump/Turnbull stand off over Australia’s illegals currently held in Pacific detention centres, I would like to suggest that Justin Trudeau could be approached about taking them into Canada. He seems happy to take in many unvetted Syrian refugees, Australia’s 1200 Iranians have at least have some kind of UN vetting (for what that’s worth). Quick phone call to Ottawa, problem solved!

Like I said before, these people are total undesirables, that’s why we never wanted them in Australia. I’m surprised that Trump has decided to honour the agreement forged by Obama. Maybe he feels that he’s honour-bound to go through with it because of the importance to the US of having an ally in the south Pacific. Anyway, it hasn’t gone through yet, so we’ll see. Some of the detainees are not happy about going to ‘Trump’s America’ either, so they’re going to be reluctant emigres which doesn’t benefit the USA.

It is YUGELY distressing to read online that the US taxpayer will be taking Australia’s rejects and to read in the newspaper that the President is not standing up to pressures from world leaders on his immigration policies (WaPo) . Donald Trump was swept into office by the millions of American taxpayers who see through the refugee resettlement agencies that bring in the world’s poor without proper vetting to absorb tax dollars, degrade neighborhoods and make safe communities unsafe. This happens all because the UN cannot do its job. President Trump said 2 things on the campaign trail: 1. The borders would be closed the first day of his administration 2. The UN should be in a neutral country. I am a registered Democrat of 40 years. I was anxious for Donald Trump to succeed because he was not a member of Congress and had ideas that would benefit American citizens. Immigration is a subject the Democratic Party and Bush got so out of balance that the American taxpayer has had no tax dollar protection. Sir, while the US is a member of the UN we should not be taking in ANY refugees. If that organization cannot do its job we do not need to be a member and the American taxpayer does NOT need to be paying for third world poverty here and abroad. Instead of bashing organizations centered on reproductive rights the Republican Party should recognize that a big part of why so many countries remain third world countries is because of their belief systems regarding reproduction. This is a subject that we as Americans have evolved in a logical manner. You can’t afford children = DON’T HAVE THEM. My vote was not meant to allow the current vice president, who will never carry a child, to grand stand! GET ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS AND THEIR OFFSPRING OUT OF MY COUNTY, STATE, COUNTRY, JOBS, HOUSING, PRISONS, SCHOOLS, BENEFITS AND OFF MY INFRASTRUCTURES. AND DO NO IMPORT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Full order here…..Obama had done similar……

  6. This doesn’t make sense after Trump taking some strong stances. Good point that the dirtbags would have to be vetted and how could they get through that? Hopefully we get an answer to this soon.

I too hope Reuters report is wrong! I do not see how Trump would possibly do such an outrageous thing.

THANK YOU FOR THE LINK TO THE WHITEHOUSE! I feel writing to it via that site may actually be read by someone who cares! I sent this message to Mr. Trump:
