Springfield, Mass mayor blasts Jewish Family Services for placing more refugees without notice

Posted by Ann Corcoran on February 11, 2017

They (Jewish Family Services) are concentrating “poverty on top of poverty!”

(Mayor Domenic Sarno)

We told you about Democrat Mayor Domenic Sarno a few years ago when he asked the US State Department to place a moratorium on refugees being deposited in his beleaguered and over-loaded city.  Of, course he was ignored as mayors have been ignored in Amarillo, TX, Lewiston, ME and Manchester, NH.

His pleas to the Obama State Department were ignored, will Tillerson’s agency treat him better?

He has common sense and he has experience on the receiving end! http://www.theblaze.com/news/2016/11/28/at-least-1000-veterans-descend-upon-college-to-protest-american-flag-removal/

(See our archive on Springfield, here)

So this past week he learned that Jewish Family Services was quietly placing more refugees in the city and he came out firing with both barrels!

From MassLive:

‘Enough is enough’: Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno critical of new ‘influx’ of refugees to city

SPRINGFIELD — Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, after learning that several refugee families are expected to arrive in the Springfield area this week, has renewed criticism of local resettlement agencies, saying “enough is enough.”

In a prepared release, Sarno raised a series of questions about the arrival, saying he had received no advance communication from the Jewish Family Service of Western Massachusetts***, the resettlement agency.

“Once again, these resettlement agencies with no prior contact and/or coordination efforts with our city departments, use our Springfield as their ‘designated resettlement site,'” Sarno said. “Yet when these resettlement agencies are asked to assist these families in need in their own cities and/or towns — they state they do not have the capacity. Maybe they should try to create their own capacity.”

Sarno had also been critical of resettlement agencies in 2013 and 2014, urging the federal government at that time to put a moratorium on new refugee families settled in Springfield.

Sarno restated his claims of the past that the resettlement of refugees in Springfield was a situation of concentrating “poverty on top of poverty,” with low income people added to low-income areas.

US halts vetting of Australia’s rejected asylum seekers

Posted by Ann Corcoran on February 11, 2017

This is a good sign and perhaps the way Trump might begin to make progress against the Open Borders Leftwing—just do what you need to do within the Administration.

manus-island-protests

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is between a rock and a hard place. But, why should American towns have to absorb Australia’s rejects?

If you are a new reader and don’t know about the “dumb deal” Barack Obama made literally within days of Trump’s unexpected election, the gist of it is that Obama said that the US would resettle in America over 1,000 migrants who tried to get to Australia by boat and have since been housed offshore.

Australia doesn’t want to take them to their mainland, so why should we take them to the US to be placed without your knowledge in your home towns!

(See our previous posts on Turnbull’s deal by clicking here)

From Bloomberg (AP story):

Canberra, Australia (AP) — U.S. officials stopped screening refugees held on Nauru for potential resettlement in the United States this week but will return to the Pacific atoll to continue working toward a deal that President Donald Trump has condemned as “dumb,” an Australian minister said Thursday.

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton would not say when U.S. Department of Homeland Security officials would return to Nauru to conduct what Trump describes as “extreme vetting.”

Trump made enhanced screening a condition for agreeing to honor an Obama administration deal to accept up to 1,250 refugees refused entry into Australia. Australia pays Nauru and Papua New Guinea to keep more than 2,000 asylum seekers — mostly from Iran, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka — in conditions condemned by rights groups.

U.S. officials were sent to Nauru within days of the deal’s announcement in November after the U.S. presidential election. But they left this week with arrangements under a cloud.

There is more here.

By the way, although only briefly mentioned here, one of the issues facing all first world countries attempting to deport failed asylum seekers (Australia, Germany, and the US) is that some of the Muslim countries from which they came refuse to take them back. Heck, they don’t want troublesome people either!

2,305 refugees admitted to US since Trump EO announced on 1/27

Posted by Ann Corcoran on February 11, 2017

And, since October 1, 2016 (the first day of fiscal year 2017) we are up to 34,430—still time for the Trump Administration to cap entry for this year at less than 50,000 (my suggestion is 35,000).

Trump Watch!

I’m glad to see so many news outlets now tracking refugee numbers, something not done until the last year or so. (You will see some slight discrepancies in numbers depending on what parameters are entered at Wrapsnet and what time of day the reporter accessed the State Department data base.)

Here is what I have this morning:

Since President Trump’s Executive Order on the evening of 1/27, the State Department and its contractors have hustled and placed 2,305 refugees.  (Remember that although the ‘ban’ has been stymied by court wrangling, the 50,000 ceiling, a reduction from Obama’s proposed 110,000, stays in effect.)

Of the 2,305, 1,051 come from the countries that were included in the ban as follows:

Iraq (341)

Iran (115)

Somalia (156)

Sudan (37)

Syria (402) (400 of the Syrians are Muslims and only 2 Christians)

Libya (0)

Yemen (0)

(We rarely bring refugees from those last two countries anyway)

Total:  1,051

Religions?

An Indonesia policeman distributes used clothes to migrants believed to be Rohingya inside a shelter in Lhoksukon, Indonesia's Aceh Province May 11, 2015. Nearly 600 migrants thought to be Rohingya refugees and Bangladeshis were rescued from at least two wooden boats stranded off the coast of Indonesia's northern Aceh province, authorities said on Sunday. It defies all common sense to believe Rohingya boat people can be security screened. Story and photo: http://www.thanhniennews.com/region/hundreds-of-refugees-arrive-in-malaysia-indonesia-after-thai-crackdown-52841.html

One thing you need to know is that all of those coming from places like Iran and Iraq are not Muslims, some are Christians and other minorities.

But the total number of Muslims in the group of 2,305 is 1,022.

In addition to those countries above, we admitted Muslim refugees from the following countries: Afghanistan, Burma, DR Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Jordan and Palestine.

In fact 19 of the 87 Burmese we admitted are Muslims.  These are probably the Rohingya boat people who went illegally to places like Malaysia, and I maintain cannot be thoroughly vetted any better than Syrians or Somalis.

This post is filed in our Trump Watch! category as well as ‘refugee statistics’ and ‘where to find information.’

Germany has 450,000 failed asylum seekers they plan to deport!

Posted by Ann Corcoran on February 11, 2017

Invasion of Europe news….

You might want to read my post on asylum here last week.  Asylum seekers differ from the refugees we normally talk about because they get to a country like Germany (or the US, or Canada) and ask for asylum claiming they will be persecuted if returned home.  The refugees we write most about here are selected abroad and we fly them in.

So the next time you hear that Germany is welcoming refugees in greater numbers than the US, remember these hordes who arrived in Europe with a goal of getting to Germany over the last two years are migrants seeking asylum.  Now we are learning that, yikes! Germany has 450,000 who failed to prove their asylum claims and will now be deported.

Gee, wouldn’t it have been a better idea to close their borders in the first place!

merkel-poster

They are not going to love her so much when she starts filling up those planes and flying hundreds of thousands out of dear Deutschland. Poster and story here: http://panteres.com/2015/08/28/angela-merkel-syrians-praise-chancellor-for-receiving-refugees/

From the Daily Mail (a department in Berlin will be created to organize the mass deportations!):

Merkel offers cash handouts worth millions of pounds for migrants to return home in an embarrassing U-turn

Angela Merkel will offer cash handouts worth millions of pounds for migrants to leave Germany in an effort to silence criticism of her ‘open-door’ border policy.

In a highly-embarrassing U-turn over the ill-fated plan, which saw 1.2million migrants flock to the country, Mrs Merkel has now vowed to send many of them home.

The German chancellor agreed a package of measures to speed up the deportation process for an estimated 450,000 migrants who have been rejected asylum.

The controversial plan, which marks a significant toughening of previous proposals, includes a £76million scheme that will offer migrants cash incentives to leave Germany voluntarily.

Many will see the move as a desperate attempt for Miss Merkel to claw back support ahead of her challenging re-election bid in September.

Criticism of her decision to leave Germany’s borders open and welcome all refugees during Europe’s migration crisis in 2015 has led to a surge in support for anti-immigrant parties.

[….]

The proposed crackdown, which has been criticised by human rights groups, will also include the creation of a department in Berlin to co-ordinate mass deportations.

The Trump message for Leftwing politicians worldwide: not a winning strategy to promote the replacement of your own people with migrants.
