Church World Service announced yesterday that it is launching anti-Trump campaign (to raise $$$)

Posted by Ann Corcoran on March 4, 2017

Is your denomination one of 37 that will be holding demonstrations and lobbying Congress?

It is called the #GreaterAs1 campaign.  (Just my personal opinion, but I sure wouldn’t run my whole campaign around a hashtag, see what happened at #ThisIsARefugee!)

Get your T-shirt and help pay some big salaries at Church World Service as Donald Trump turns off their flow of your money (your tax dollars!).

Here is the news at WFYI (Indianapolis):

Religious groups around the country Friday announced a coordinated effort to fight immigration policies being pushed by the Trump administration. The campaign includes 37 Christian denominations representing 30 million Americans.

President Donald Trump’s hardline stance on immigration was made manifest in January through an executive order blocking citizens from seven countries – said to protect Americans from foreign-born terrorists. A federal judge blocked the order, but a revised version is expected soon.

The order has been divisive among faith groups. But on Friday a number of Orthodox and mainline Protestant churches announced a grassroots effort to fight any version of the ban.

The campaign also hopes to raise $1 million over the next six months to help refugees. [They have salaries to pay!—ed]

It was announced through the National Council of Churches and Church World Service, a group that helps settle refugees. [Paid by the head by American taxpayers to resettle refugees!—ed]

You can go here and see what the campaign will do.

CWS CEO Rev. John McCullough being arrested in Washington, DC protesting in SUPPORT of Obama’s executive AMNESTY. Photo and story here:

And, I had a hard time finding a link to the 37 denominations they are bragging about, but it must be their usual list of congregations that are affiliated with Church World Service, see here (there are 37 listed).

Is one of these your church? If so, and you disagree with the anti-Trump campaign, speak up!

So those churches above will be fundraising, demonstrating and lobbying Congress against President Trump’s immigration policy.

Now, let’s look at Church World Service’s financials….

According to Charity Review, Church World Service has 241 paid staff.  Head honcho, the Rev John McCullough, CWS’s CEO, makes a shamefully high annual salary of $316,714!

Here is a breakdown of their income. Besides the $50 million from the US Treasury in one year, that service fee is likely your money too!

And holy moly!

Just for the heck of it, I checked USA to see how much of your money this supposed ‘religious’ charity got from you since 2008.

I am shocked! In the bidding-for-bodies racket, they have got the Lutherans beat!

They are approaching a half a billion dollars in federal money between 2008 and 2016!

Here are just 5 transactions of 351! And, aren’t you wondering why the Dept. of Homeland Security is giving them payola!

There  should be a law! Any non-profit sucking this kind of money out of the US Treasury should be prohibited from running anti-Trump (or anti-any President) campaigns!

Where is Congress?

  1. Just wondering how many of these churches congregations know of this

I’m thinking very few Americans who attend these churches know what is being done in their name.

Do you have any idea why the USCCB is not listed as the US Catholic Bishops support this 100%.

Oh the Bishops surely agree, but this particular list is for the ‘Christian’ churches that Church World Service calls their own, their supporters. Church World Service is one of nine federal refugee contractors as is the USCCB. See my post just today on the USCCB.

As caring human beings of any faith, our first concern should be to help victims (of any abuse or victimizing conditions). By remaining silent on the egregious human rights abuses in Islam – against both Muslims and non-Muslims – these churches are aiding and abetting the victimizers while doing nothing to give aid or encouragement to the victims of Islam; by helping to resettle Muslim immigrants into western countries, they are increasing the pool of likely victims, all in the name of not wanting to hurt feelings?!!! Working to abolish abuse is a far higher ethic than not wanting to ruffle feathers. I’ve quit my church, and donate what would have been my tithe to organizations devoted to saving persecuted Christians. I wish more people would do the same.

Church Wold Service and its affiliate churches, which include some main line churches have no idea

what they are doing. Its a liberal mind set, as we were Methodists until we saw the light.

We currently live in Mexico 50% of each year and unfortunately 50% in Tucson, Az and formerly in

Portland Oregon which is off the map with liberal policies.

These people and churches are not Christian, but apologists for any other faith including Islamic.

They just do not understand that the world, people, and nature are not FAIR. Islam is growing because

of these people. They want no law, no walls, yet they all have walls of their homes, counties, cities, and nations. Walls are for protection, and good. It’s the people and their greed. Follow the money.

  6. Here is how you can report this illegal non-profit abuse to the IRS, so hopefully they can take away their tax exempt and tax deductible donation statuses.

all these churches are 501c3…meaning they are told what they can and can’t say, what they can and can’t do…They are under dictate of the IRS and the ACLU… Here is Congressman Cleaver stating as much IRS and the ACLU are run by Jewry.

  10. Risking our national security at the tax payers expense & safety. Obama gave 79 million to the pope. These churches are placing money over safety of US citizens.

Ann, I managed to do #ThisIsARefugee only 2 times then Twitter wouldn’t allow it anymore, they said “you have already Tweeted this message” —EVEN THOUGH it was attempted on MANY different RT’s!!)

  13. These wicked apostate churches do this to get money. Get out of them asap.

  14. According to IRS law, any tax exempt organization (non-profits, churches, charities) that engages in political activity will lose their tax exempt status.

How about posting on how people can report this illegal activity to the IRS?

  15. Ann, Is there a place I can visit for definitions of relevant words used about this topic? For example, “refugee” vs. “immigrant.” I think there is a difference, but I want to make sure., being new to the in-depth study of these things. Perhaps there is one at a .gov site?

    • Ann Corcoran said

There is a very specific definition of “refugee”… just google search definition refugee. Then do the same for immigrant.

  16. This is not about compassion, not about the good of our country, not about anything but money, votes, power, politics! But that is mostly what VOLAGS and Obama have been about for 8-9 years, and we can talk endlessly about shame, greed, lack of conscience but these are not factors that will convince the immigration industry to to consider America’s well being.

The program goes back over 30 years… Bush is partly to blame as well.

      • Yes, that is true. In my 8 years work as a Texas Border Volunteer everything was done legally and we were briefed thoroughly prior to each night’s mission. But President Bush called us “vigilantes”, and that was not true. I voted for Mr. Bush twice, but his silence regarding the actions of his radical successor Obama was more than I could ignore. He could have made a difference in the downhill spiral of the last decade had he spoken out. I have little regard for him now, and fault him for not warning us when his words would have had great impact, and saved many lives and avoided much of the quandary we now face.
