“My hometown (Utica) is gone”

Posted by Ann Corcoran on June 11, 2017

In recent months I’ve wondered if voluntarily devoting ten years to writing this blog has been worth it—my tenth anniversary is coming up in 3 weeks—but when I see a story like this where someone has the guts (and the first hand knowledge!) to say what is happening in cities being “Islamized,” with the help of the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program, I get the energy to go on.

Read the 2005 UN propaganda report used to entice (embarrass) other cities into ‘welcoming’ refugees.

Don’t misunderstand, I don’t know this brave soul (reader ‘mjazzguitar‘ sent the blog post), and had no hand in finding her or encouraging her, but her post gives me hope that there will be an awakening in my lifetime after all!

I have written many times about Utica, NY—the town that loves refugees according to a 2005 UN-launched propaganda campaign.  See my Utica archive by clicking here.

Here are a few snips from former Utica resident, Loretta Brady, writing at Thermidor.

(This story first appeared on Brady’s own blog, here.)

Please read the whole thing!

Hi! This is a blog post I threw together in response to the recent increase in refugee numbers by Trump’s State Department, in order to convey what it is like living in an Islamizing area. I gave a talk at a luncheon a few months ago that was basically relating my story of how my hometown has been Islamized by refugee resettlement. So it makes sense to do a blog post.

I’m from the Utica, NY area. Utica is the city nicknamed by the UN “the city that loves refugees!” Soon every American city will be a city that loves refugees! Get ready! So I would like to tell you what it is like living in an area where the major city is about 25% (or more) refugee, mainly Muslim.

When I moved back home one of the first things I noticed was that an old Methodist church was being converted into a bright shiny white new mosque. The local paper touted this as immense progress and featured a local woman who had attended the church as a child and was positively brimming with joy it was being turned into a mosque. If that is the general sentiment, then it’s odd that my county went for Trump, right? There are at least two mosques in the city now. They just built another.

Where do I start? Utica had always been “the city that loves refugees” but under Obama things accelerated. Muslim immigrants were suddenly in these local bureaucratic positions where they had power over you. This, in what is probably one of the most corrupt states in the union, where the power of the state is everything.

So let me just summarize: the social worker at the school is Muslim, the administrator who ok’s homeschooling is Muslim, the CPS worker is Muslim, the nurse practitioner at the ER is Muslim, the doctor at the ER is Muslim. These are positions of authority that wield a lot of power.

Are you starting to get the picture?

Drones are a special interest of mine, so this next bit from Ms. Brady really got my attention!  Why are drones popping up in stories about Muslims these days?

The spring before we moved Utica made national news because of a federal grant to the local community college (two million dollars) for a (Muslim immigrant) professor to teach teenage (Muslim) refugees how to build drones. The grant didn’t mention explicitly that the drones would be equipped with bombs or anything, so it was all aboveboard. This was going on like down the road from us. My husband assured me he could shoot any drone out of the sky, and I’m sure he could, but curiously enough that didn’t assuage my anxiety, but only exacerbated it. The last thing I needed was my husband getting arrested on federal charges for taking down a drone.

There is TB in Utica. I’m sure there is more than reported. Obama stopped screening foreigners for TB, which America has been doing since before the days of Ellis Island, and the refugees are from places where TB is endemic. Whenever I was in a hospital- when I gave birth or when I went to the ER- I would be very aware of my surroundings.

This next comment interested me too! When I traveled around the heartland last summer, everywhere I went people told me that their first warning was that large numbers of Muslims congregated at Walmart.  What is up with that?

The author must be in a rural part of North Carolina because NC is a state busily “welcoming” refugees.

The local Walmart [in Utica—ed] is full of headscarves and burkas. I cried when I went into my first Walmart in North Carolina and all I saw were Americans.

North Carolina is like Heaven. People are so much happier here. I thank God every day we got here. I consider it a “free zone”, and I want it to stay free.

Read it all!

Ms. Brady and her fellow North Carolinians are going to have to work very hard if they don’t want North Carolina to be New York.  (Search RRW for North Carolina because I have several posts where I question how NC became a state Muslims are gravitating to with the help of Christian resettlement agencies.)

In fact….

I just checked the data and see that NC is #10 in refugee resettlement so far in Trump’s first fiscal year (turning red states blue!).

In FY17 we are up to 47,434 refugees (the fiscal year ends September 30th).  New York was #3 (after California and Texas) with 2,733 admitted so far and NC was #10 with 1,694.  Two states and the District of Columbia were at the bottom of the list with less than ten each (Mississippi (6), Hawaii(3) and DC(2)).  Wyoming is last, but not least with zero.

Endnote: Hopefully I can post this tomorrow, but just as I’m writing today’s post I see that Church World Service is crowing about the higher than expected numbers of Muslim refugees they are dropping off in Buffalo, NY thanks to Trump’s Dept. of State!

The only way most of these contributors can help Ann to try and sort out this colossal mess is for each contributor to TAKE ACTION. No, not prowl the streets and abuse anyone, aka Democrats, but simply to vocally inform each member of your EXTENDED family to make themselves aware and ACTIVE in voicing their concerns in every way possible; with local and National Government agencies, every time you place a vote you MUST NEVER EVER give a vote to a Muslim – you do so at your PRRIL. And EVETY member of your extended family should be implored to do the same and at least ATTEMPT to save America. Here in England things are becoming desperate – we are so darned stupid and careless that we have virtually given up. I beg you True Americans to begin the fight-back NOW, IMMEDIATELY, ACTIVELY and vocally. In God’s name DO IT NOW! Paul Austin, London. UK

  3. Do you know the income and benefits of Muslim refugees. I am sure it is more than an American working Citizen job earnings. I picked up a wierd fact you might know if it is true. It requires $245 million to resettle 10,000 Syrian refugees. I am sure resettlement probably includes travel here, immediately giving them Welfare, SS cards, food, free medical, schools. I know Obama used to give them Amnesty which is about $24,000 undocumented income. Are refugees given sponsors to live with, probably getting paid too? How many different classes of Aliens brought over are Lifetime Citizens, Amnesty? Are Health exams being given when they enter?

Hi Madeleine, Too many questions…I would have to write a book. Oh, I did, find some of your answers in my book ‘Refugee Resettlement and the Hijra to America’ and stay around and read RRW everyday and you will find more of the answers!

That was a very good post, it shows the mess that the United States is getting into with the open border policy of the former administration. I live in Twin Falls, Id which is another refugee loving town. This weekend is the state wide special Olympics being in twin Falls and the only pictures in our local paper about the Special Olympics was 2 pictures of the owner of Chobani Yogurt hugging 2 special needs children. Thank you and keep up the work.

    • Ann Corcoran said

      LOL! Big surprise!

    • Chobani is owned by a radical Muslim who funds Islamic schools and Islamization programs all over the country. We have been infiltrated by rats and the government going back to Clinton is the facilitator. See the documentary movie “The Grand Deception” which details the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in the USA over the past 50 years. keep your powder dry.

  5. You need to correct your blog…it is not Trump’s State Department doing this…it was Obama’s and he (President Trump) is working hard to stop it however the judges Obama put in place are blocking him at every turn making it very difficult for him to do his job. He does not want the refugees at all which is why he’s working at trying to pull out of the UN and the UN is now threatening the USA to take in more refugees. Trust me when I say lots of Americans do not want the refugees. We did not want them here in Michigan however Obama said he would cut off all government funding and state aid if Michigan didn’t take some. I have been to Dearborn and it has only gotten worse and now other towns are being taken over but again thanks to Obama there are judges in place that are stopping orders and deportations so…you have Obama to thank for this wonderful mess while President Trump is working to try and get us out of it.

    • Tallulah, From what I saw on Fox news this morning is Pres.Trump’s Muslim Ban is headed to the Supreme court. These loony left judges are trying to take away from a sitting president his powers to stop anyone from coming to the US if the president considers them a danger to the population. That’s in the Constitution and I think the Supreme court will uphold his ban.

Allowing Refugees Into The U.S. Will Cause Economic Disaster

According to the Center for Immigration Studies, on average, each Middle Eastern refugee resettled in the United States costs an estimated $64,370 in the first five years, which comes out to $257,481 per household.

Given that it only costs $1,057 to resettle each Syrian refugee elsewhere in the Middle East, for what it costs to resettle one Syrian refugee in the United States for five years, about 12 refugees can be helped in the Middle East for five years, or 61 refugees can be helped for one year.

This is money out of every honest taxpaying American pocket. Also, this does not include the cost of refugees from non-Middle Eastern nations, which will be another 50,000 refugees costing at least another $2.5 billion.

The CIS’ director of research and lead author of the study, Steven Camarota said: “Very heavy use of welfare programs by Middle Eastern refugees, and the fact that they have only 10.5 years of education on average, makes it likely that it will be many years, if ever, before this population will cease to be a net fiscal drain on public coffers – using more in public services than they pay in taxes.”

There are other advantages even for the refugees, he added.

“The material life might be better here, but there are other considerations. One example may be if they stay there once the war is over, they are much more likely to return home,” he said. “If they stay also in countries more culturally similar, they don’t have the disruption of adjusting to life in an alien society like America.”

Caring for refugees “in the region” is also “less disruptive to our society,” Camarota said.

“Unfortunately, we have had refugees come to the U.S. and commit terrorist acts, the most cited example being the Boston Marathon bombers, who came from the Caucuses as asylum seekers,” he said.

The liberals don’t care about what it costs. They cannot import the whole World and not expect to destroy this great country!

They are selling out our country for their own personal gain! Unlimited Illegal immigrants are wanted for two reasons, the Democratic vote, and money involved.

But this must stop! Why should Americans be required to support their every need?

Keep up the good fight. Our country’s culture is deteriorating rapidly.

If President Trump overrode the blind, mostly Democratic liberal courts that block him every step of the way, he could significantly stem the influx of Muslim refugees and immigrants — and the TB they bring with them, and the terrorists who have embedded themselves among them. Without some drastic action, America will become the next Europe, where, except for Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and a couple of other common sense countries, Islamization is spiralling out of control — as is (hello!) terrorism.

they are bringing highly infectious disease epidemics: Polio, Leprosy, TB, Measles, Scarlet Fever, drug resistant Gonorrhea, to name but a few; because they were not inoculated from birth. Those coming from Africa, where 70% are infected, bring HIV and AIDs. A dreadfully deadly disease with massive risks and expense into America. Moreover, those coming across the Mexican border, hundreds of thousand YEARLY are indeed rapists, murders, drug deals, and criminals, even ISIS. I checked the government stats on that myself. They are also ISIS, as the drug smugglers have told us they have been bring them in. Open borders are deadly to Americans and America.

  9. This is a runaway freight train that started really picking up steam during the 8 year Obama administration. It is now President Trump’s nightmare, so “technically” your references to him are correct, however, ALL of his travel bans have been blocked by the dirty dems and their holdover liberal judges. I wholeheartedly agree with your site in every way except the fact that you continue to place blame on the current administration when clearly it is not the Presidents doing. Is there something you know that the rest of us do not, about how the inside works and the President IS to blame here for these mass numbers since January? Not being snotty, genuinely would like to know if the reports are wrong and he could be doing more, instead of waiting for the Supreme Court to rule/overturn the 9TH Circuits decision. I have seen you asked this direct question on multiple occasions, but have not seen your response as of yet. If you think the President can do something he is not doing, please put that out there in black and white. I am one of his voters that voted for him specifically because he was going to stop the mass influx of radical refugees. If you know something, say it and tell us, we can petition the White House with a proposed plan if you have one. If not, these are just mean “digs” at a President you obviously do not like. Thank you.

You clearly have not been reading regularly. And, what have you been doing to stop the refugee flood to America?

      • Ann, instead of dodging her concerns how about addressing them.

        • This reply is for Patti and Jolynn:

After being a loyal reader for many years, I have zero tolerance for anyone commenting on this blog who dares to impugn or denigrate Ann Corcoran’s journalistic or personal integrity. Ann has single-handedly been doing the dirty work that few if anyone else wants or dares to do when it comes to the Refugee invasion. Her research is meticulous and impeccable and as a technical writer myself, I can tell you that it requires an enormous amount of brain power and TIME to put together the research and articles that she provides on a DAILY basis FOR FREE.

Ann is doing the work that should be done by our HIGHLY PAID public “servants” and politicians who are using our tax dollars for their no show jobs that do nothing except worsen the problem. Instead, we have a woman who, out of the goodness of her heart and because of her Patriotism, has devoted decades of her life to trying to protect our country and our citizens from the horde that is invading Europe and the USA. These are perilous times we live in. There are actually people who have gotten killed for speaking out a lot less than Ann does. It takes a whole lot of courage to write anything that could be perceived as even vaguely anti-Muslim or against Islam let alone sign your name to it!

Instead of the criticism and complaints about Ann’s work, how about just saying “thank you”?

PS: I am very much a Trump supporter and will not abandon him. There is definitely more that he could do on his own to help with this problem.

Thanks so much for your continued support and kind words.

And P.S. it is vitally important to call out the Trump Admin. when they drop the ball on a campaign promise. If we don’t, he will think we didn’t care that much in the first place! Trump is our ONLY chance, a once in a hundred year opportunity to get this immigration issue under control, we have to keep his feet to the fire. Think of your role as a loving parent—you love your kid but from time to time he needs a reprimand (for his own good!).

Ann is wrong in this case, it is without question the fault of the Communist Democrat Globalists corrupt courts who are preventing Trump from stopping the influx of Muslim refugees. The COURTS have ruled against him from taking any action to stop them from flooding out country. He has been deporting as many as he can, who came here a economic refugees as opposed to truly persecuted refugees.

Trump Order the refugee numbers to half what they were under Obama, and while he was at the G7 summit the Obama holdovers in the State Dept, increased them again. Mthe courts prevented him from changing it back.

In his defense he moved to waybthey could reduce the numbers. Thanks goodness! The Somali are the worst of the worst!

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Brendan Raedy, an estimated 4,801 Somali nationals are facing final orders of removal from the country.
Many of them have committed crimes.

            Voice of America reports:

“‘As of April 1, 2017, there were 4,801 Somali nationals with final orders of removal,’ U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spokesman Brendan Raedy said Tuesday. ‘As of that same date, 237 Somali nationals have been removed to Somalia in fiscal year 2017.’

We are bringing in hundreds of Somalis each month as refugees under DJT.

Seneca, no one denigrated her. If a public figure puts out their opinion and allows space for replies they should expect replies and inquiries and have the courtesy to address sincere questions and if they aren’t interested/don’t want to bother engaging  then there’s no point in allowing replies at all…hers is not the only opinion that matters. Instead of addressing JoLynn’s inquiry with a sincere reply, she just put out a quick, dismissive one.  I could understand her dismissing a post that included name calling, etc., but there wasn’t any of that, just a sincere inquiry.

Like Trump, she’s a public figure and should expect criticisms of her work the same as she insists Trump should accept criticisms of his.  Yes, she does good work…no one disagreed with that nor said it wasn’t appreciated…at the same time she chooses to do the work she does, as we all do, but if she has no interest in engaging with others and their opinions in a public forum then maybe it is time for her to retire her column.

          • Ann Corcoran said

One of the greatest powers in the world is the power a volunteer has! No one pays me for my work, my time is my own and I can spend that time how I wish.

      • Actually, I am a faithful regular reader. I spread the word, that is my contribution. I would like to do more, which is why I clearly asked you how to in my above post. We are ALL asking and wondering what we can do…I meant it wholeheartedly when I asked you if there was a plan, some sort of affirmative action that you knew of we could take. My children and grandchildren depend on us, we must fight for them and their future freedoms.

And…let me ask that same question another way. Is it Trump or is it the 9th that is responsible for the almost 50k refugees here since January? I really need to know if it is Trump. We all do.

  10. Ann- I can’t thank you enough for publishing this excellent, well written and poignant article. I too am a life long New Yorker and although I live in the suburbs of Manhattan which are a lot wealthier than Utica and upstate, we too are being overrun by immigrants both legal and illegal. Just last night I had to make run to the local Walmart for some items I needed for a project I had to finish and it really brought home everything that was in the article.

I guess because they sell all that cheap stuff from China, Walmart seems to be the hot spot for not just the refugees but also for a lot of the local freaks and weirdos of every denomination. My point is this- it seemed that everyone in the store was speaking some other language, not English. Virtually all of the employees do not speak English and are extremely rude if you even ask them where something is.. Please keep in mind that we are talking about a Walmart in Westchester county, one of the wealthiest enclaves in the USA. Most of our communities spend MILLIONS of dollars every year in SCHOOL TAXES to teach these immigrants ENGLISH. Yet ALL of the families I see in the shopping centers speak Spanish or some other language to each other, NOT ENGLISH. I can’t tell you how many times I feel like yelling at one of these moms- for God’s sake, SPEAK ENGLISH! But of course I wouldn’t dare. So what happens in this part of the state, the Belly of the Beast as we conservatives call it, is that the brainwashed, Sharia loving, immigrant loving Lib Dems are importing these Third Worlders as fast as they can and signing them up to vote Dem, regardless of whether or not they are citizens! Here in NY this is somehow legal in many places. You know- don’t ask don’t tell.

Another point that Mrs. Brady makes about the formerly Catholic or Christian churches and schools being turned into mosques- my old alma mater is a perfect example. In years past, it had been a large estate donated to the Catholic church which turned it into a “ladies academy”, an all girls Catholic school. I actually went to high school there when there were still nuns and priests and Catholic Mass. Fast forward to the late 1990s when old school complex was sold to a developer who was not allowed to build the project he wanted which was a bunch of high end homes. So he sold the property to some Muslim outfit, could have been CAIR but I’m not sure, and they turned it into a Muslim center which it is today. I drove past it on my way home last night and there must have been over 100 cars parked in the lots. There were an amazing number of people milling about, socializing, and doing whatever it is that they do at the center.

Today there is not one Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, Christian church or Jewish synagogue in our community that has anywhere near that level of participation. Most of the immigrants nearby seem to be Catholics but their church in the small city is tiny compared to the Muslim center. The Muslims seem to have many children, way more than their Christian neighbors, and this is why they are quickly taking over in many parts of our country. Let’s face it, many Christian families either cannot afford to have more than one or two kids or else they don’t think it’s desirable. Meanwhile, the Muslims and other immigrant groups who have large families and lots of children, are being subsidized by the very people that they consider to be their enemies. Wake up America! The invasion has not stopped because Trump got elected. If anything, things are getting worse every day. Not everyone has the choice to be able to move to a “free state.”
