International Rescue Committee joins Sesame Street in competition for $100 million grant

Posted on December 12, 2017

The IRC, as you all know, is one of nine federal resettlement contractors*** placing refugees in your towns and cities.  Although it doesn’t resettle the largest number (the US Conference of Catholic Bishops does), it has the biggest bank account.     Go here to see its financial picture along with the other nine which […]

Suggestion for President Trump: save millions by cutting funding for the International Rescue Committee

Posted on January 28, 2017

Everyday I start my day at around 5 a.m. with CNN.  I recommend that you all consider doing that (not necessarily at that hour!) because it is so informative to see how they spin the news each and every day. Kind of fires me up to get to work! This morning CNN showed a clip […]

Sesame Street partners with refugee contractor, International Rescue Committee

Posted on June 21, 2016

Sigh…. Read the story here. The IRC is one of nine major federal resettlement contractors. No escaping the propaganda machine. I wonder if they could bring Sesame Street to those young boys in Idaho?

International Rescue Committee expanding, Richmond added to sites in Virginia

Posted on May 19, 2016

This is just a quick mention, way too much happening today! We have been telling you about how the UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program is rapidly expanding to new sites—Rutland, VT, Missoula, MT, Reno, NV, Ithaca, NY and so on.  These new offices are to accommodate the ever-expanding program because Obama has said we […]

Major US refugee contractor, International Rescue Committee, embroiled in corruption probe

Posted on May 12, 2016

Update May 13th: Leo Hohmann at World Net Daily has much more on this probe. Gee, I wonder if this is why its CEO David Miliband (a Brit!) has his toe back in UK political waters (here two days ago!). Is he about to jump ship and go home? I haven’t seen this story yet […]

International Rescue Committee wants Obama ceiling raised on FY15 refugees to accommodate Syrians

Posted on November 13, 2014

Recently we told you that another US refugee resettlement contractor***, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, was petitioning to pressure the Obama Administration to raise this year’s refugee ceiling from 70,000 to 100,000, but now we see that the IRC is pushing for a change as well. Where did we get that information?  From a new […]

International Rescue Committee study: refugees like cash better than services

Posted on September 29, 2014

They did not study refugees resettled in the US, but I’ll bet they would opt for cold hard cash over stuff too. Former British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, the CEO of one of our top nine resettlement contractors, the International Rescue Committee, who himself likes cash (and is paid nearly a half million dollars as […]

Brit who heads International Rescue Committee: Let’s send some more Syrians to San Diego

Posted on March 1, 2014

So, they can be with their kind of people! David Miliband, former UK foreign secretary and recently installed head of one of the nine major federal refugee contractors told the news media in a visit to San Diego this week that 12,000 Syrians should be admitted to the US in 2014.  (Keep in mind that […]

And, you thought the International Rescue Committee was just a bleeding heart NGO

Posted on April 29, 2013

IRC:  We love Hamid Karzai!   Yesterday I told you about how the World Socialist Web Site feels about the second largest of our US Refugee Resettlement contractors (the US Conference of Catholic Bishops is the largest)—the International Rescue Committee that brings on average 10,000 or more refugees a year to your towns and cities. […]

Elissa works for the International Rescue Committee in Thailand

Posted on October 29, 2009

I’ve taken down this post because I do believe that Elissa or any young (or old) woman should not be posting her photo and location in Thailand.   I continue to be shocked that the IRC doesn’t instruct its employees to be more careful about personal details.  My apologies to readers who arrive here and wonder what […]
