Minnesota Somalis: You’re old and we are taking over

Posted by Ann Corcoran on May 13, 2018

This week Judy sent me an interesting facebook post. I’ve decided not to name the author in order to spare her further aggravation.

Normally I wouldn’t post on a social media conversation except this one rings a bell.  I’ve heard it before.

In fact in earlier years in the life of this blog, I heard it from time to time.  Somali commenters told me that this country had a lot of wide open spaces and they planned to fill it.

In fact in 2010, a Somali woman communicated with me to warn that Somalis are creating what she called Tuulas (villages) throughout some states—she mentioned Minnesota and Kansas and Maine. She said:

I have read about what is going on in Kansas and in other small towns like Maine. Somalis will turn these small towns into a largely populated Somali town, because if Minnesota is the U.S capital of Somali people then a small town or city cannot stand a chance.

And, more recently a reader (a Somali?) has told me I am old so I am to be dismissed, implying that I can’t stop the inevitable wave anyway.

So this facebook post sounds perfectly in line with what other Somalis have said to me, and are saying:

From anonymous:

Yesterday, I had long social media conversations with two Somali Muslim gentlemen from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I asked them about their goals for improving Minnesota and how they feel about being an American. I also asked them about the million dollar upgrade at Cedar Riverside public housing that Mayor Jacob Frey promised its majority Somali residents this week. After I was called a racist, a fascist, a bigot, stupid and old, here’s what else they shared with me. Nearly verbatim. Thoughts?

Mayor cedar riverside

Don’t miss Leo Hohmann’s report on the Minneapolis mayor making special promises to special people.  https://leohohmann.com/2018/05/08/democrat-run-city-building-6-foot-fence-around-migrant-housing-complex-to-keep-intruders-out/

“Get with the program, miss. We are here to stay. We never left our Somali heritage or culture. That’s what America is missing. Please stop forcing us to your ways. You’re old and have very old ideas. Get with the program. I’m trying to have my son to be the first Muslim black governor of the state of Minnesota in next 20 years. He’s gonna run as a Democrat. Oh, and on those upgrades at Cedar Riverside. They better give us those upgrades and changes if the Mayor wants to earn our votes. Or else we can always get another Mayor next time around. You see how being an American works? I told you lady please get with the program because Somalis are the latest addition to black folks.

Why should we assimilate? Do you know how stupid you sound? Guess what? We’re here to stay and will transform America for the better. Get that through your thick, ignorant skull. You need to see a doctor. It’s inevitable that Somalis will be taking over and there isn’t anything you can do about it. Again, what’s wrong with Somalis taking over? It is inevitable! This land doesn’t belong to either of us. It is our time to populate it and rule it. Go back to Europe or wherever you’re from if you don’t like it.”

When populations rise, they get cocky (and careless).

And, they are amazingly confident even in light of the fact that Somalia is a failed state because they couldn’t manage to govern it without creating a hellhole.

I suggest that their Leftist trainers (who must be talking to them about ‘old white people’) teach them to not spill the beans prematurely…but then again, let ’em talk!

Refugee numbers “plummet” under Trump (so far)

Posted by Ann Corcoran on March 26, 2018

I laughed this morning as I noticed more new articles from all over the place using the word “plummet” in their headlines, a sure sign that talking points have gone out (probably from the Refugee Council USA) and the media lemmings have followed the instructions.

Trump and Pompeo

I have no idea how the numbers might go up or down as Mike Pompeo takes the reins at the US State Department. But, you know, we will be watching!

(I’ll report on the 6 month of FY18 numbers a week from today, but it looks like Trump’s State Department is on target to reach just over 20,000 this year far below the admission ceiling of 45,000 the Trump Admin set back in September.  However, don’t forget that paying clients are coming in as SIVs from Iraq and Afghanistan to help put money in the contractors’*** pockets.)

This is the one today that got me thinking about that ‘P’ word:

Refugee resettlements in U.S., Maine plummet under Trump administration

Here are more:

San Diego County refugee numbers plummet following Trump’s block on arrivals

Trump lifts refugee ban, but admissions still plummet, data shows

Refugee admissions to U.S. plummet in 2017

Number of refugees moving to Buffalo plummets under Trump administration

Refugee Resettlement Agency Revenues Plummet Under Trump

Refugee Admissions Plummet to 1,242 in First Month of FY 2018

Refugee Resettlements Plummet Under Trump

Resettlement of Somalis in Minnesota plummets in wake of Trump policies

You get my drift!  LOL! Even I have used the word to describe resettlement numbers since President Trump arrived in the White House.

US Refugee admissions plummet even further

Other words that are being used include: “tumble,” “dip,” and “dropped dramatically,” but none have the ring or impact of “plummet.” ***Update*** Add “drastic decline.”

Note to Minnesotans!

When I looked at the admission numbers (Wrapsnet) for this month so far—March 1 to today—I was surprised to see that MN was the top receiving state for refugees.  Now remember this is only for a few weeks, but the top receiving states are usually California, Texas, Ohio, Florida, New York (big population states).

In the last 3 weeks MN ‘welcomed’ 124 new Minnesotans (only 10 were Somalis). The largest group were Burmese (78).  When I do my monthly accounting a week from today I’m going to check to see how many Burmese Muslims (Rohingya) we are bringing in now. So far, our refugee flow from Burma has been dominated by Christian and other religious minorities, but the Rohingya numbers are picking up.

***For new readers, these (below) are the nine federally-funded refugee resettlement contractors that work with over 300 subcontractors around the country to place refugees in your towns. They also are leading community organizing (political agitation) groups that outright oppose Donald Trump and his policies on, not just refugees, but all types of immigration including the fact that they support amnesty for illegal aliens.

Reform of the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program is not possible until they are stripped of their power which you provide through your tax dollars.

The number in parenthesis is the percentage of the nine VOLAGs’ income paid by you (the taxpayer) to place the refugees, line them up with jobs, and get them signed up for their services!  From most recent accounting, here.

Will mosques provide sanctuary to illegal aliens? Nah, we changed our minds

Posted by Ann Corcoran on March 6, 2018

This interview at New Hampshire Public Radio popped up in my alerts this morning and it gave me a chuckle so I’m sharing it with you.

The gist of it is that last year Muslims said they would open mosques as sanctuaries (housing!) as part of the sanctuary movement that seeks to hide illegal aliens from the Trump meanies in ICE, but have since changed their minds.

omar-suleiman-1024x1024

Imam Suleiman

A Dallas area Imam who thought the idea was just peachy here in January 2017 now skillfully steers a reporter away from what I think is the truth (they don’t want a bunch of dirty kafirs, especially women, living in their mosques) to blame it on Trump-generated haters (people like you and me!) who they say might attack their mosques if they did it.

January 2017…..

Imam Omar Suleiman a year ago (Mosques tackling bigotry!):

Mosques for the first time are being being called upon to join a nationwide interfaith “sanctuary” movement for immigrants who may face deportation after President-elect Donald Trump takes office, a prominent Dallas-area imam said Tuesday.

“We really have to stand strong in the face of the bigoted forces that are targeting our communities,” Imam Omar Suleiman, a bilingual professor of Islamic Studies at Southern Methodist University, said in a joint announcement with other religious leaders around the nation.

Suleiman said mosques across the nation will be asked this week to join a movement that religious leaders say has doubled to more than 800 mostly Christian congregations since Trump’s election. Among local Christian congregations already vowing to participate are Christ’s Foundry United Methodist Church in Dallas, where about 8 out of 10 adult congregants are foreign-born.

It was unclear exactly how the coalition of congregations plans to shelter or otherwise assist unauthorized immigrants who face the immediate threat of deportation. But the growing number of mosques, churches and temples is working out details on who will give refuge and under what circumstances, the imam said.

Continue with more BS here.

March 2018….

Now here is New Hampshire Public Radio with the Imam this week.  The reporter sounds a little surprised that mosques won’t be housing any mostly Christian illegal aliens after all:

We (says Suleiman) are showing solidarity in other ways…..

Screenshot (1281)_LI

Linda Sarsour blesses Imam Suleiman (picture worth a thousand words!)

NHPR:

Under President Trump, Latino immigrants in the U.S. illegally are under enormous pressure. ICE has dramatically intensified its efforts to detain and deport undocumented persons.

That was a cornerstone of Trump’s campaign platform, and after his election, officials at a mosque in Cincinnati announced they intended to become a sanctuary congregation, ready to shelter asylum seekers or migrants in need — whether Muslim or not.

But just three weeks after the election they backed off that offer of providing shelter within the mosque.  [LOL! I bet some Islamic ‘scholars’ got to them and said—you can’t do that!—ed]

Listen to Suleiman deflect:

“So I think that announcing yourself as a sanctuary has its implications, whether you’re a mosque, a church, a synagogue, or anything,” Imam Omar Suleiman told NPR’s Renee Montagne.

Last year, Suleiman was one of the people calling for mosques to join the sanctuary movement in response to increased deportation. The adversity that the Muslim and Latino communities face is similar, he said.

“I think the tools that have been employed against immigrants are the same tools that have been employed against refugees, which are the same tools that have been employed against the Muslim community as a whole, which is the dehumanization — the ‘otherizing***’ — that allows people to subconsciously accept this idea that we somehow do not deserve the same level of dignity and respect and liberty that everybody else does,” Suleiman says. [Sounds like the right talking points, but he doesn’t answer the question!—ed]

Blame it on Trump and the haters. We can’t do it because the haters would hurt our mosques and the Latinos too!

But there is already a deep anti-Muslim sentiment, he adds, pointing at mosque burnings that have taken place since President Trump was elected. He says Muslims are already under a lot of scrutiny and an additional layer to that could exacerbate something that is already an issue and endanger both the Muslim and the Latino communities.

This is too funny!

“The idea here is that the goal of sanctuary is to provide safety, and if we cannot provide emotional, physical safety, then it would sort of be defeating the purpose,” Suleiman says.

There are other ways to express solidarity (that don’t involve dirty kafirs living in our mosques).  Of course he didn’t say that!

But this excuse will sound good to our inter-faith friends (and to NHPR)! Suleiman:

“You know, there are other ways to express solidarity and support but announcing your particular mosque as a sanctuary could potentially endanger that particular Muslim community and then obviously the immigrants themselves that would seek shelter would be under that intensified scrutiny.”

Go here and listen to the whole interview—a little laugh in the morning is a good thing!

This post is filed in my ‘Laugh of the day’ category, here.

*** I am going to assume that since South African blacks are “otherizing” white farmers (see post two days ago), that the good Imam would support moving those white South African Christians to America.

Obama’s ‘Final Year’—finally gone!

Posted by Ann Corcoran on February 18, 2018

Subtitle: Why Donald Trump is in the White House!

Obama's men and Power

Ben Rhodes, Samantha Power, John Kerry,  and of course Obama.  Four reasons (five if you throw in Susan Rice) why Trump won!

There is a new documentary film being released (in a few theaters near you) about the final year of the Obama Administration and how their foreign policy decisions (blunders!) helped put Trump in the White House.

But, the film idea didn’t start out that way. When filming began, Trump wasn’t supposed to win!

Be prepared for a sympathetic look, dripping with nostalgia, for the good ol’ days.

My special interest in viewing the film is to see what more the ever-cocky Samantha Power has to say.  You will find her discussed many times over the years here at RRW from her earliest mention in 2008 as Obama’s ‘Iraqi refugee czar’ to her rise to her UN catbird seat.

See the trailer (here if it doesn’t play below):  Pay special attention to the 1:25 minute mark (5 months left which means it would have been early September 2016) where Samantha Power says this:

“We have to be sure to make it harder to dismantle if we take a different turn.”

Does she mean make it harder to dismantle Obama’s foreign policy legacy (which was pretty lousy anyway) in case Trump wins? Did she suspect then that Trump might very well succeed?

The dossier and the FISA applications????  Wasn’t she fingered as a chief ‘unmasker?’ Hmmm!

(By the way, the 1:38 minute mark is pretty good too—Ben Rhodes realizes that they have lost!)

Now here is a bit of the text from the Times of Israel where the reporter seems to be wishing the Obama gang was back.

‘The Final Year’ follows the Obama administration’s last attempt to shape world affairs. (Magnolia Pictures)

For those tired of watching reruns of “The West Wing,” there’s a new political thriller out — and it just so happens to be real.

The recently released documentary “The Final Year” is the story of the Obama administration’s final 12 months in office as told by former president Barack Obama’s foreign policy team.

Leading roles are played by Obama administration stars. US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power and Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes, along with Secretary of State John Kerry — and the president himself — all race against the clock to broker a deal with Iran, negotiate a climate accord in Paris and find a solution to the Syrian crisis, among the other issues on their diplomatic agenda.

For the individuals portrayed in the documentary, “The Final Year” was intended to solidify Obama’s foreign policy legacy, but President Donald Trump’s ultimate victory leaves the Obama team more stunned than assured.

“We tried to change the ending but we couldn’t do it,” joked director Greg Barker in an interview with The Times of Israel …..

[….]

“Samantha [Power] gets very excited and we’re talking about these ideas, and I’m thinking, ‘Wow, this is great. We’re going to change the world.’”

But by the fourth quarter of Obama’s final term, the glamour of their vision had succumbed to the political reality of the office.

The role refugees played in Trump’s victory….

Barker said that Power now believes that the Obama administration’s failure to take definitive action in Syria prompted a domino-effect of world events.

“[Power] will say that you can make the case that without the Syria tragedy and the outflow of refugees, you may well not have had Brexit in the UK, you may well not have had Trump without this fear of ‘The Other’ which was perpetrated by a million refugees flowing into Europe,” Barker said.

“She’ll make the case that the world could be a very different place [if not for the Syria crisis],” he added.

More here.

Note that comments to the Times of Israel are not flattering to the team.

Heck, it would be fun to watch this in a theater wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat!

US immigration lawyers: Go North! Canada: NOOOO!

Posted by Ann Corcoran on January 30, 2018

Sticking it to President Trump in January 2017, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, welcomed one and all to Canada…..

Trudeau diversity heart

Trudeau’s vision of diversity: http://canadafreepress.com/article/skin-deep-justin-trudeaus-vision-of-diversity

….now a year later it is oopsy! Never mind!

Here are the opening paragraphs in the New York Times on January 28, 2017:

OTTAWA — As President Trump’s executive order on immigration stranded people around the world and provoked condemnation, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada took to social media to restate the country’s open-door policy.

“To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith,” Mr. Trudeau wrote on Twitter on Saturday afternoon. “Diversity is our strength.”

And, thousands and thousands believed him and are headed north (to the open-door!), with perhaps the largest number so far being the Haitians who have lost Temporary Protected Status here in the US.  It is feared Salvadorans will be next.

To try to cut them off at the pass, Trudeau is sending representatives like this one who visited California recently.

From the LA Times:

In a private dining room at Zov’s restaurant in Tustin, a Canadian envoy made his pitch to about a dozen immigration attorneys and immigrant rights leaders.

Pablo Rodriguez, a member of Parliament, leaned over from his seat in the middle of the table and asked everyone to spread the word: Please do not cross into Canada illegally.

Trudeau and Pablo Rodriguez

Trudeau: Please Pablo, Go! Tell them not to come. I was just getting in a few licks at Trump, I didn’t really mean we are welcoming to everyone!

“Get the facts and make a decision based on the right facts, before leaving your jobs and taking your children out of school and going up there hoping to stay there forever,” Rodriguez said. “Because if you don’t qualify … you will be returned and in this case not to the United States. You will have lost your status and would be returned to your country of origin.”

Worried that anti-immigrant rhetoric and decisions from the Trump administration could drive more people across its border, the Canadian government is trying to nip that in the bud.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dispatched Rodriguez to California.

The whip for the majority Liberal Party in Parliament, Rodriguez arrived in the U.S. a few days after President Trump announced his decision to end temporary protected status of an estimated 200,000 Salvadorans in the country.

His message was not that different from immigration hardliners in the U.S. But it was delivered with a nicer Canadian soft sell.

World Relief, one of the nine federal resettlement contractors paid to place refugees in your towns, was there. Before you continue know that the DACA ‘children’ are NOT REFUGEES even if the contractors want you to think they are.

Moments before the meeting, Glen Peterson, director of the refugee resettlement agency World Relief’s office in Garden Grove, said he had told one of his staffers he was meeting with a Canadian member of Parliament regarding immigration issues.

“Oh good,” she said. “Are they taking refugees?”

Peterson said the woman is a beneficiary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which has protected nearly 700,000 young immigrants who were brought to the United States as children and are currently in the country illegally. In September, Trump decided to terminate the program in six months, forcing Congress to find a solution.

There is much more, click here.  Note that US immigration attorneys are disregarding Pablo’s message and are prepping their clients to head to Canada.

See my Canada category here.  What a mess they have now with Trudeau and first his Syrian airlift and now Central Americans and Somalis especially heading north.

Austria: Mahmoud took the money and went home!

Posted by Ann Corcoran on January 14, 2018

They are trying it all over Europe—paying the migrants to go home!

It is something we have advocated here as well.  Believe me, it is cheaper than incarceration and deportation and way cheaper than migrants of all stripes living (for years!) off the generosity of the US taxpayer for food, shelter, education and medical care.

going home

Here is the story from NPR (hat tip: Joanne):

158,000. That’s roughly how many refugees are stuck in limbo in Europe right now.

Many of them got to Europe in late 2015, when the refugee crisis reached its peak, and have been waiting since then to see if they’ll be formally accepted into the European Union.

To cut down on the wait time and economic impact of this massive influx, some countries and nonprofits in Europe have embraced a new idea — pay refugees to go back to the countries they left in the first place.

Mahmoud Abdelwahab is one of the people who has been waiting. He’s 25, and originally from Mosul, Iraq. In early 2016, he quit his job as a cook and came to Europe, ending up in Vienna.

[….]

….the Austrian courts have been overwhelmed by applications. When the migrant crisis reached its peak back in 2015, the number of people wanting to stay in Austria tripled.

Instead of waiting longer, Mahmoud late last year made a tough decision. He decided to leave Austria and go back to Iraq.

“He saw other Iraqi people receiving the negative decision that they have to go back,” Epaid says. “And that’s why he decided for himself to back, before he got a negative.”

That decision — to voluntarily leave the country — is exactly what the Austrian government wants refugees to do.

Last spring, Austria announced that it would give 1,000 euros (roughly $1,219 USD) to the first 1,000 refugees who signed up to leave on their own.

The program was successful, and the government extended the offer to more refugees. It’s an incentive that’s gaining traction across Europe.

[….]

He’s taking the buyout, he says, to go home and use the money to buy a car and become a cab driver.

“Two years … [I] was here for nothing,” Mahmoud says as Epaid translates. “It didn’t make any sense to come here.”

More here.

And, LOL!, if I could run the immigration program (in any country) I would hire Mahmoud for a huge sum of money and have him filmed saying that in public service announcements to be shown all over the Middle East and Africa!

And, for my readers who just want to see them arrested and taken in chains to an airport, I don’t want to hear from you so don’t bother commenting. (Of course there would have to be all sorts rules put in place, like they can’t come back next week.  I know that!)

Heck, if we could pay the supposedly educated DACA kids (the Dreamers!) to go back to their countries of origin they might actually (if they have been educated by the US) help their people and their homelands improve themselves, and the world would be a better place.

Come on President Trump, give it a try.  Offer to pay them to return to where they came from, with maybe a little starter money, and see how many will sign up.  Call the program Dreams from my Father’s Homeland!

There would be a little humorous side benefit for us as we watched the Dems scream bloody murder about wasting taxpayer dollars….

(I’m shutting up! I’m getting carried away!).

President Trump gives us permission to speak!

Posted by Ann Corcoran on January 12, 2018

With all the hullabaloo since yesterday about the President’s question about why we needed to import so many people from certain s***hole countries, I’m thinking that the great fear the PC crowd (pulling out the smelling salts) has is that when the President speaks straightforwardly (on anything), it gives permission for masses of Americans to do the same.  Speaking freely about critical issues facing our country could be the death of the hard Left and they know it.

Graham and Durbin chuckle

So who leaked the comment to the Washington Post? Some speculate it was someone connected to these two unhappy participants—Senator Dick Durbin and Senate pal Lindsey Graham

I’m expecting that half of America was laughing in the privacy of their homes when they heard the President voice something that they themselves dare not say.

I didn’t look around for what might be the best discussion about what exactly happened, but this one at the American Spectator by Scott McKay seems on point and brings up the Somali issue something we know a good bit about.

Here are a few snips (emphasis is mine):

A quote attributed to President Trump horrifies our snowflake intellectuals, but accurately reflects the sentiments of much of America.

Thursday saw a media firestorm erupt over a Washington Post report that amid a White House meeting with several members of Congress working on a compromise having to do with the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, President Trump asked why America should have to take in so many immigrants from “s***hole countries” rather than people from places like Norway.

The Post article isn’t exactly the finest example of American journalism, identifying as its source no one actually in the room to confirm what Trump supposedly said but instead naming two anonymous people who were “briefed on the meeting.”

Those anonymous second-hand sources claimed that the offending statement came amid a discussion over a proposal to eliminate the diversity visa lottery program and use the 50,000 visas per year tied up in it to offer protection to “vulnerable populations” living in the United States under Temporary Protected Status. Trump became irritated at this, according to the Post, and asked about Haitians, and when the conversation turned to Africa Trump supposedly said, “Why are we having all these people from s***hole countries come here?” and suggested that maybe instead America should be taking in more people from Norway — whose prime minister visited the White House the day before.

[…..]

The Post reported that the Senators attempting to come to a DACA solution, most prominently Illinois Democrat Dick Durbin (whose track record indicates a lack of reliability where it comes to good faith in negotiations) and South Carolina Republican Lindsey Graham (no more need be said) were upset over, upon arriving at the meeting, being joined by immigration hard-liners Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) and Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Virginia), among others. Durbin and Graham thought they’d have the president more or less to themselves. And when the meeting devolved into disagreement, with Trump showing no interest in a DACA deal, it’s pretty obvious someone on one or both of their staffs rushed to the Post to offer up a juicy second-hand Trump quote which might or might not have been reported in proper context.

Author McKay then goes through a list of dysfunctional countries whose nationals are here in large numbers, including from Somalia:

Abukar Ibrahim

The most recent Somali machete attacker in Vermont last week (at a hotel for the homeless). A reader tells me he came as a refugee in 2004. If so, what has he contributed to America in those 13 years?

How about Somalia? Who’s up for more mass immigration from Somalia? Is there any argument Somalia is a s***hole, or do we need a national screening of Black Hawk Down to remind us what that country is like? If you’d like a more recent depiction of what Somalia has to offer the world we could all watch Captain Phillips, the 2013 Tom Hanks vehicle about the true story of the Maersk Alabama, set upon by one of the multitudinous hordes of pirates — yes, actual pirates — sloughing off from Somali shores in search of fat from international commerce.

Somalia is such a s***hole that its stench infects nearby countries like Kenya — viz., the Westgate Shopping Mall attack in Nairobi in 2013 — and Uganda, where Al-Shabaab, Somalia’s home-grown jihadist terror group, set off a series of bombs in the capital of Kampala to slaughter 76 people as they watched the 2010 World Cup soccer final.

What has America derived from mass immigration from Somalia? Machete attacks on street corners in Columbus and mall stabbings in suburban Minneapolis. And if you like, you can ask the current and former residents of Lewiston, Maine, what a boon Somali immigration has been to that town. [See machete attack in Shelburne, VT in the last week.—ed]

The last thing the open-borders Left wants is for you to talk openly about immigration and who should be permitted to live here.

The open-borders crowd doesn’t want to talk about that, though, and it wants to call you racist if you’re opposed to a deluge of immigrants from the worst places on earth. That’s why Trump’s “s***holes” objection is big news rather than the fact there are so-called political leaders who can’t agree to reorient our immigration policy toward taking people who can successfully assimilate here.

Between the two, the crude man who tells the truth and looks out for his own citizens is preferable to the genteel man who sells us out for cheap labor or ballot-box fuel for a political machine. If Trump is the former, so be it.

Much more here.

St. Cloud Somali ‘peacemaker’ and community organizer says Somalis want to integrate, not assimilate

Posted by Ann Corcoran on December 17, 2017

Hudda Ibrahim has come home to St. Cloud to help organize her community and bring peace and understanding, she says.  (Oh, and build a “huge company” while she’s at it.)

ibrahim

Hudda Ibrahim touring Minnesota with a message of peace, love and reconciliation.

But while she was away at places like Catholic Notre Dame (she studied conflict resolution and reconciliation) she obviously picked up on the nuance surrounding the words ‘integrate’ and ‘assimilate’ with the former being preferred to the evil latter—we will not assimilate was her clear message to a recent audience.

She spoke at Central Lakes College earlier this month. Below is a small part of a report on what Ibrahim told her audience.

West Central Tribune (Willmar) (Hat tip: Ron):

BRAINERD, Minn.—Somalis in Minnesota often find themselves misunderstood, but one young refugee hopes to help change that.

Hudda Ibrahim, a professor of diversity and social justice at St. Cloud Technical and Community College, presented to a sizable crowd on her background as a Somali refugee and the plight of Somali refugees generally during a talk Thursday, Dec. 7, at Central Lakes College.

Ibrahim left Somalia as a young girl with her family in 1991, after the onset of civil war. They fled to Ethiopia, abandoning everything they owned, and later moved to America. An uncle and brother died, she said. [What about the Kenya part of her journey?—ed]

“It wasn’t easy for my family,” she said.

Every Somali family that comes to America has a story similar to the Ibrahims, she said.

When Ibrahim arrived in America in 2006 at the age of 19, she didn’t speak one word of English.

[….]

She went on to obtain a master’s degree from Notre Dame, and work for a nonprofit in Washington D.C. She moved back to Minnesota in 2015. [Is that non-profit the Somalicurrent? she edited?  Listed on twitter as being located in Mogadishu—ed]

“I really wanted to get back to my community, my hometown, my city of St. Cloud … to build bridges,” she said.

Ibrahim founded Filson Consulting, which lends its services to businesses trying to bridge the culture gap, including translation and mediation. She also wrote a book, “From Somalia to Snow,” on the Somali experience in central Minnesota. The research for the book formed the basis of the second part of her talk Thursday—on Somalis in Minnesota as a whole.

[….]

Somali immigrants have been settling in America since the 1920s, Ibrahim said, but she focused on those arriving during the early 1990s onward. [For new readers that is when the UN/US Refugee Program was going gangbusters—ed]

There are several factors prompting Somalis to immigrate to Minnesota as opposed to other states, Ibrahim said. Following the outbreak of war in Somalia, refugee agencies resettled in Minnesota. That caused word to spread among the Somali community that Minnesota was a tolerant place with life opportunities, attracting more immigrants. Ibrahim recalled hearing stories before she immigrated of the wonders of Minnesota—stories which conveniently omitted the freezing weather.

Somalis came to central Minnesota because there were jobs that didn’t [require] fluency in English, she said. They also came because their family members were already there. They came because there were schools, hospitals and mosques available.

We know they came for jobs (like window manufacturing in Owatonna!), and they were originally placed in Minnesota by three federal resettlement contractors acting as headhunters. Catholic Charities, Lutheran Social Services and World Relief were supplying those companies with cheap labor.

But, there was something else!  We reported here that it was the generous welcoming welfare that made Minnesota attractive to the resettlement agencies in addition to low wage manufacturing and meatpacker jobs galore.

Then here is the part that interested me most. She is parroting the hard Left/Open Borders activists on the words assimilation vs. integration.

Ibrahim made a distinction between assimilation and integration, in response to critics who say Somalis aren’t assimilating enough to American culture. Assimilation involves abandoning one’s home culture and adopting that of the dominant group. However, integration means maintaining one’s cultural traditions and values, while interacting and respecting the diverse community as a whole.

More here.

Fine and dandy if she is talking about cultural traditions involving food, festivities and traditions of that nature.  However, if she is talking about Islam, Islam is not a cultural tradition. Islam is a form of government that we have no plans of integrating with!

Readers should know that the debate over the use of those words is raging even in the Trump Administration as it recently initiated a push to try to get rid of the word ‘integration’ throughout the government.

The Peacemaker!

I had planned only to say a few words about her use of the words ‘assimilate’ and ‘integrate’ until…..

…..in only a few minutes of zipping around on the worldwide web, I found a few other bits of information about Ibrahim.

First that mention above about not speaking a word of English when she arrived here in 2006 at age 19 after living in Ethiopia from 1991 (when she supposedly last saw Somalia) until she came to the US—-does she expect us to believe that when she attended high school in KENYA (according to her facebook page), she learned NO English?

When you click on the muslim girls secondary school you get a school in Nairobi, Kenya. When did she go from Ethiopia to Kenya?

I would like to know more about this publication called Somalicurrent the thirty-something Ibrahim edited.

Why don’t these well-educated Somalis, so concerned with their home country, put their peacemaking skills to a real test. Go there and help rebuild Somalia rather than remake Minnesota?

And, here we have—the words of the peacemaker!  She gets a big award.  Below is a small portion of the report about her award at the St. Cloud Times.

Arriving in the U.S. at 19 with limited English skills, Ibrahim was determined to carry on her family’s tradition of education. [Which is it? Limited? or, as she told the Brainerd audience, she didn’t speak one word of English?—ed]

It was at both the College of St. Benedict and the University of Notre Dame that Ibrahim discovered an interest in peace building.

And it is a skill set that she is determined to apply in Central Minnesota.

[….]

Question: Why peace studies? Why do you have a passion and drive for that particular area of study?

Answer: Because I want to build a community that lives together, regardless of their differences. And a community that comes together as a force of peace and coexistence and love. Peace building is not only a peace and war thing. If you don’t have peace, then you don’t have life. Safety, security. In peace building, one person cannot do it all. I understand that. But, you have to be that change. If you want to bring change, you have to start within. I wanted to be that person who changes the perspectives and wins the hearts and the minds of others.

Peacemaker or troublemaker?

See Ibrahim’s facebook comment after one of those recent contentious St. Cloud city council meetings. (I don’t think she means for this to look like a peacemaker parody, but it sure does!)

For a self-described “peacemaker” to use words like these—calling those she disagrees with “bigots” and cheering the city council for “bulldozing” the bigots—is comical.  Is that what she learned in conflict resolution classes at Notre Dame?

So much for “building bridges!”

International Rescue Committee joins Sesame Street in competition for $100 million grant

Posted by Ann Corcoran on December 12, 2017

The IRC, as you all know, is one of nine federal resettlement contractors*** placing refugees in your towns and cities.  Although it doesn’t resettle the largest number (the US Conference of Catholic Bishops does), it has the biggest bank account.

Go here to see its financial picture along with the other nine which monopolize all US resettlement.  The IRC is 66% funded by the US Treasury (you!).

The IRC does have one other distinction and that is that its CEO, David Milliband, a British national (former Labor Foreign Secretary) and friend of George Soros and Bill and Hillary, has the highest CEO salary of the nine agencies working for the US State Department.

The MacArthur Foundation (funder of many Leftwing causes) will announce the winner on December 20th.  Go here to see what the IRC and Sesame Street are proposing.  Are they even sure this kind of ‘education’ will sit well with some of the more fundamentalists of the Middle East?

See my David Miliband archive here.

Don’t miss this 2013 post where we reported that Pamela Geller called Miliband an “urbane savage” for saying the West must “embrace political Islamism.”

***These are the nine federal refugee contractors. The Refugee Admissions Program will never be seriously reformed as long as this system of hiring contractors whose income depends on the number of refugees being admitted to the US continues.

CAIR Minnesota to host scare tactic propaganda event today in St. Cloud

Posted by Ann Corcoran on November 18, 2017

If you live nearby, get on over to the St. Cloud library quick—today!

The Council on American Islamic Relations has invited Japanese Americans to help scare Muslims living in Minnesota—suggesting that what happened in WWII could happen to them!

The implication is that Muslims could be incarcerated en masse just as Democrat President Franklin Roosevelt did to the Japanese after the Japanese government bombed Pearl Harbor, an event that threw America in to WWII.

Sheesh! And, we get criticized for scare tactics!

JaylaniHussein640

CAIR Minnesota Director Jaylani Hussein: Come on out to the library today so we can scare the bejeezus out of you!

CAIR obviously is inviting a scare tactic free-for-all with this event!

Here is their press release in full (hat tip: Bob):

CAIR-MN, Japanese American Group to Host St. Cloud Forum on WWII Incarceration, Islamophobia

(MINNEAPOLIS, MN, 11/17/17) – On Saturday, November 18, the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) and the Twin Cities Japanese American Citizens League (TC JACL) will host a community forum in St Cloud, Minn., on the infamous presidential executive order 9066, which allowed the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II as it relates to today’s anti-immigration policies and the rise in Islamophobia.

WHAT: “Japanese-American Incarceration: Could It Happen Again?”

WHEN: Saturday, November 18, 1-3 p.m.

WHERE: St. Cloud Public Library 1300 W. St. Germain Street St. Cloud, MN 56301

CONTACT: Jaylani Hussein Executive Director (CAIR-MN) at 612-206-3360, Cheryl Hirata-Dulas (Twin Cities JACL) at 952-221-5867

A local survivor of the Japanese American incarceration will lead a panel of experts to discuss the history of this presidential order, the impact it had on the Japanese American community and America and to explore the question, “Could it happen again?”  [Eeeeek!—ed]

This presentation comes at a time in which anti-immigrant organizing led a St. Cloud council member to call for moratorium on new immigrants to the city. This community forum will help address the underlining issues on these topics.

During WWII, 120,000 Japanese Americans (2/3 of them citizens) were imprisoned in camps because they looked like the enemy. Come listen to Japanese-American survivors and historians as we remember and reflect on Executive Order 9066.

Program Panelists Include:

· Sally Sudo, 81 years old, was six when she and her family were uprooted from their home in Seattle, Wash., and incarcerated for three years in Minidoka, Idaho. She came to Minnesota after World War II due the assistance of an older brother who trained at the U.S. Army’s Military Intelligence Service Language School at Fort Snelling to learn the Japanese Military language to translate captured documents, interrogate Japanese prisoners of war, and serve as an interpreter.

· John Matsunaga, Minneapolis artist/photographer who has documented the remains of all ten incarceration camps.

· Dr. Yuichiro Onishi is professor of African-American and African Studies at the University of Minnesota. His long-range research explores U.S. colonialism toward Okinawa during the early Cold War years. Began his academic career in the Center for Ethnic Studies at the Borough of Manhattan Community College of The City University of New York (CUNY). Also taught African American studies courses at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan.

· Jaylani Hussein, the executive director of the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN). Hussein’s family emigrated from Somalia to Minnesota in 1993 and he is trilingual (English, Somali, Arabic). Hussein holds degrees in Community Development and City Planning from St. Cloud State University and Political Science from North Dakota State University.

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding. [And hit every critic of uncontrolled immigration with the racist, Islamophobia label!—-ed]

La misión de CAIR es mejorar la comprensión del Islam, fomentar el diálogo, proteger las libertades civiles, capacitar a los musulmanes estadounidenses, y construir coaliciones que promuevan la justicia y la comprensión mutua.

To citizens concerned with the myriad issues involving the resettlement of refugees around the country, REMEMBER! those promoting more migration to America never rest.  You too need to plan events and other educational forums so as to continue to educate your fellow citizens about real problems—not sow fear as this event is obviously intended to do!

Gee, will the St. Cloud library host an ‘educational’ event for those who want to promote an opposing view?
