Australians blame US for ripping apart families in that “dumb deal”

Posted by Ann Corcoran on December 6, 2017

It is not too late!

Dear President Trump halt the “dumb” Australia deal where we are resettling illegal aliens who are Australia’s problem to unsuspecting American cities.  You had the right America First! instincts back in February when you called it a “dumb deal.”

This is a no-win for America!

australian detainees

The mostly Muslim men, some held in detention for 4 years, are being processed as refugees for Anytown, USA. So far the Trump Admin. has admitted over 50 with another 90 approved to be resettled in a month or so.  https://refugeeresettlementwatch.wordpress.com/2017/11/27/trumps-dumb-deal-more-australian-detainees-will-be-arriving-in-the-us-after-the-first-of-the-year/

Here we learn that the US State Department supposedly only wants single men in the unprecedented deal Obama struck just as he was leaving office.

(For new readers, see my Australia deal archive by clicking here to catch up!)

And, so Australian leftwing politicians and the media there are showing that the deal is dividing families!

Again, the US is made to look bad, so let’s scrap the whole thing!

From SBS News Australia:

Refugees being held on Nauru are being encouraged to sever ties with family members in Australia when applying for resettlement in the United States, prompting an angry response from parliamentarians.

But Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has defended the direction, pointing out only those held in offshore detention can be considered under the US deal.

Recordings of phone conversations and an email chain obtained by The Guardian, detail Australian Border Force encouraging refugees on Nauru to permanently separate from family members in Australia.

[….]

A US resettlement deal struck between former president Barack Obama and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull provided a possible path out of detention for refugees detained offshore.

The US has reportedly preferred to resettle single people rather than families.

The UN Refugee Agency recognises the integrity of the refugee family is both a legal right and a humanitarian principle.

Go here for more.

Let me repeat, this whole deal is unprecedented and should never have been consummated!

These are illegal aliens who sought asylum in Australia and are thus Australia’s problem!

Imagine the uproar if asylum seekers at the US border were detained and shipped off to Australia or where ever.  Can you hear the roars of outrage from the worldwide Human Rights Industrial Complex.

Somali arrested in Australia on terror charges; planned to shoot New Year’s Eve revelers say police

Posted by Ann Corcoran on November 28, 2017

He is a 20-year-old born in Australia to Somali immigrant parents which brings us to the questions everyone is avoiding:  So how do you screen for Islamists like this? How do you stop terrorists radicalized in the West after we ‘welcomed’ them and gave them an opportunity for a good life?

Notice that Hungary, Poland and Japan don’t have arrests like this—why? They don’t admit Muslim immigrants.

One of many stories on the arrest, this one from News 24:

Melbourne – An Islamic State (ISIS) sympathiser planned to buy a gun and kill as many revellers as possible on New Year’s Eve in Melbourne’s popular Federation Square, police alleged on Tuesday after foiling the plot.

The 20-year-old, born in Australia to Somali parents, was detained in a raid on a house in the Melbourne suburb of Werribee on Monday. He is expected to be charged over the coming days.

Police claim he accessed a guide book online produced by Al-Qaeda on how to commit terror acts and use firearms, but was arrested before he could purchase an automatic rifle.

“What we will be alleging is that he was intending to use a firearm to shoot and kill as many people as he could in the Federation Square area on New Year’s Eve,” said Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton.

[….]

Patton said the man, who lived with his parents, had been on their radar since the beginning of the year, part of a small community of extremists that police have been monitoring.

His behaviour had gradually escalated over time, but police believe he was acting alone.

We hear this all the time!

A person who knows the suspect told the Melbourne Herald Sun: “He is a very quiet guy. This is an absolute shock.”

Trump’s dumb deal: MORE Australian detainees will be arriving in the US after the first of the year

Posted by Ann Corcoran on November 27, 2017

Ten single Afghan men have gotten their approval to come to the US along with other mostly Muslim migrants who have been in Australian off-shore detention, some for nearly four years.  As many as 90 could join the 50 detainees from Australia (the ‘refugees’ Australia doesn’t want!) who have already arrived in the US.

Remember readers these are predominantly men who attempted to illegally enter Australia by boat a few years ago.

The Obama Administration, just before leaving office, cut what President Trump labelled a “dumb deal” whereby we would take up to 1,250 of them to be placed in Anytown, USA (and pay for it all!) and in exchange Australia would take some small number of Central Americans who aren’t even in the US.

Trump and Turnbill

Malcolm Turnbull has been sweating it lately, but it looks like Trump is coming through to save his political neck.

President Trump is honoring the deal and so I feel free to now call it Trump’s dumb deal!

From Australia’s The New Daily (hat tip: Jon):

Dozens of refugees on Australia’s offshore processing centre on Nauru are learning if they will be moving to the United States to start a new life, The New Daily can reveal.

US authorities were expected to hand out more than 70 final decisions on the resettlement deal from Monday. The exact number of men, women and children due to learn their fate was unclear, but Ian Rintoul from Refugee Action Coalition said it could be as much as 90.

An Iranian family was rejected on Monday, along with some single applicants, Iranian detainee Saman told The New Daily on Monday afternoon.

At least 10 single men from Afghanistan were approved.

Those accepted through the deal have been told they will relocate to the US next year. They will be required to undergo further medical assessments.

Earlier, Mr Rintoul said further refugees had also received notifications to have their first interview with US authorities, while others were having follow-up appointments to progress through the deal.

[….]

In September, 54 refugees living on Nauru and Manus Island were the first to be resettled in the US. There are hopes up to 1250 refugees will be accepted under the deal.

Earlier this month, a spokesperson from PRM said further refugees were expected to be resettled “in coming months”.

BTW, another dumb thing Trump has done has been to place no one in charge of PRM (Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration) so the long-time bureaucrats are running the show there.

It’s too bad we can’t know which ‘lucky’ towns and cities will welcome the Australian rejects—one more example of the secrecy that surrounds refugee resettlement in America!

Australian detention center riot ended with PNG police clearing the facility

Posted by Ann Corcoran on November 24, 2017

That is the news this morning from The National.

Why does that matter to us?  Because some of those rioting and refusing to be moved to another processing center could end up in your town in America.

Two days ago it was a different story. From the Times of Malta:

Look at the video (in the story) and consider this, some of these men may be flown to America to be quietly placed in your town by the US State Department and its contractors.***

Screenshot (1110)

Video shot inside facility as detainees refused to be removed. These are the ‘refugees’ Australia doesn’t want, but supposedly America does?

And, check it out, how do detainees have fully-charged phones to be able to film this and tweet to the world.  They think (so they say) that if they step out of the door of the closed facility the locals will attack them.

Papua New Guinea authorities have ratcheted up pressure on more than 300 asylum seekers to abandon a decommissioned immigration camp, where refugees reported their shelters, beds and other belongings had been destroyed.

Police Chief Superintendent Dominic Kakas said 50 police and immigration officials entered the Manus Island camp on Thursday morning and persuaded 35 of the 378 men there to leave for alternative accommodation in the nearby town of Lorengau.

Water, power and food supplies ended when the Manus camp officially closed on October 31, following the Papua New Guinea Supreme Court’s ruling last year that Australia’s policy of housing asylum seekers there was unconstitutional.

But asylum seekers say they fear for their safety in Lorengau because of threats from local residents.

Kakas said force would not be used to empty the squalid Manus Island camp.

“There’s no raid. It’s an ongoing negotiation with the refugees,” Kakas told The Associated Press. “It’s not an eviction exercise. We’re telling them to move because there’s water, food and proper shelter on the other side.”

[….]

Sudanese refugee Abdul Aziz Adam tweeted that police had arrested Iranian refugee and journalist Behrouz Boochan.

Boochan had earlier tweeted: “They are destroying everything. Shelters, tanks, beds and all of our belongings.”

[….]

Australia pays Papua New Guinea, its nearest neighbour, and the tiny Pacific nation of Nauru to hold thousands of asylum seekers from Africa, the Middle East and Asia who have attempted to reach Australian shores by boat since mid-2013.

More here.

Not mentioned in the text that accompanies the video, is this near the end: New Zealand has offered to take some of the detainees but Australia declined the offer.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says that the priority is the existing refugee swap deal with the US.

Trump and turnbull on phone

Initially Trump told Turnbull it was a “dumb deal.” Still is!

Go back and look at that video and consider that some of these men will be living in your town because Donald Trump said he will honor the unorthodox deal the Obama Administration made with Australia as Obama was walking out the door in late 2016.

BTW, that story from The National I linked above says 24 of the DETAINEES have already arrived in America, but that doesn’t fit the number we had heard previously—-we heard 50 have arrived of the possible 1,250.

See my complete archive on the ‘Australia deal’ by clicking here. And for all of my posts on Australia, go here.

If you have never told the White House what you think about the Obama/Trump “dumb deal” with Australia, take a few minutes and do it (here).

Australian Prime Minister turns down New Zealand offer to take some detainees. Why? Says they are going to the US!

Posted by Ann Corcoran on November 5, 2017

In my story on Friday about “globalist gladiator” Russell Crowe wanting to take a refugee or two home with him, I reported that New Zealand’s new Prime Minister says she would take 150 off their hands.  (The asylum seekers are staging a protest at the moment).

Turnbull and Ardern

Prime Minister Ardern says she would like some of those illegal alien men, but Turnbull has turned her down.  Got a deal with the Donald!

Now Malcolm Turnbull says thanks, but no thanks!  I’ve got my deal with Trump!

He said they might take up to 1,250 mostly Muslim men to Anytown, USA if they pass security screening.  Turnbull is probably thinking it will be harder for them to get back to Australia from America then from New Zealand once they are legalized.

From the Times of Malta:

Australia turned down on Sunday an offer to take 150 asylum seekers being held in an Australian-run detention centre in Papua New Guinea, where UN officials have warned a humanitarian emergency is unfolding.

About 600 men have barricaded themselves inside the camp on remote Manus island in Papua New Guinea, defying efforts by Australia and PNG to shut it. Food, running water and medical services were cut off by Australia five days ago.

Australian authorities want the men moved to a transit centre elsewhere on the island at the start of a process the asylum seekers fear will result in them being resettled in PNG or another developing nation. The men also fear violent reprisals from the local community.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Friday her country was willing to take 150 asylum seekers from among those held on Manus island and another camp on the tiny Pacific nation of Nauru.

Her Australian counterpart, Malcolm Turnbull, however said Canberra preferred to work through an existing refugee swap deal he negotiated with former US President Barack Obama last year. Under that deal, up to 1,250 asylum seekers could be sent to the United States and Australia will in turn accept refugees from Central America. [The US will take the Muslim men off our hands and we will get Christian families in exchange!–ed]

See my entire Australia “dumb deal” archive here.

For readers shouting that it was Obama’s deal. Yes, originally it was, but President Trump could have walked away from the truly unprecedented arrangement that Obama made as he walked out the door.

‘Gladiator’ star Russell Crowe says he wants a refugee of his own

Posted by Ann Corcoran on November 3, 2017

Sheesh!  Not sure I can ever watch ‘Gladiator’ again!

Russell Crowe

Crowe: I have a few extra rooms in my penthouse in Sydney! Photo: The Australian

Crowe wants to take a refugee home, one of the Muslims presently protesting on Manus Island where those who tried to get to Australia illegally have been housed for the last few years, and help him find a job.

The facility was to be closed by the end of October, but Australia didn’t move the wannabe Australians out and now they are huddled in the facility with no food or water creating a stand off.  They fear attack by locals if they venture outside.

Surprisingly what is missing in the news from The Australian is any Trump-bashing for not moving fast enough to consummate Obama’s “dumb deal” and bring 1,250 of them to Anytown, USA.

The impasse is a result of Australia’s policy to deter illegal migration which says if you try to break in to our country, you will never get in.  So far they are sticking with it.

Crowe:  I want to take a few home with me!

Actor Russell Crowe has blasted the Australian government for its handling of refugees at Manus Island detention centre, offering to house and find work for detainees himself.

In a series of twitter posts, the Gladiator star described the government’s current refugee processing program as “a nation’s shame”.

“Manus. A Nations shame. Lives held in limbo . Lives lived in fear & despair. It’s f***ing disgraceful,” the actor tweeted on Wednesday evening.

A spokeswoman for Immigration Minister Peter Dutton told The Australian she questioned how the actor expected to carry out his offer considering current immigration policies.

“How does he anticipate he will resettle refugees without the necessary visas?,” she said.

[Why not call his bluff and the bluffs of any other rich Leftists, give them a ‘refugee’ to take home and make them sign for full responsibility for that alien’s expenses and actions for say the next 5 or 10 years? Heck! Maybe even require an up front retainer paid to the government for say $50,000 to help repay the taxpayers for their expenses over the last few years!—ed]

[….]

Jacinda

New Zealand’s new prime minister, 37-year-old Jacinda Ardern, says her country will take 150 of the mostly male detained aliens.

Crowe’s tweets come as the UN Refugee Agency declared an “unfolding humanitarian emergency” on Manus Island, after food, running water and power was cut off at the detention centre after its official closure on Tuesday.

Some 600 asylum seekers have barricaded themselves inside the complex, fearful they will be attacked if they venture outside.

Iranian refugee Behrouz Boochani, who is among those on Manus Island, told AAP “the place is like a war zone”. [This ‘refugee’ has become the medial mouthpiece active on social media.—ed]

[….]

Earlier today, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed an offer to take 150 refugees annually from Australia’s detention centres.

More here.

For new readers, see my Australia “dumb deal” archive here.  Last we heard about 50 have arrived in the US.

Dear Mr. President, if any of these Australian ‘refugees’ commit crimes or terror acts in the US, no one is ever going to remember they were a result of an Obama deal struck in the closing days of his administration. They will be yours! You own it now!

Most Aussies want immigration curtailed, 48% want Muslim ban

Posted by Ann Corcoran on October 30, 2017

More than half surveyed said Australia felt like a foreign country!

And, the upshot of this news story is a warning that if the nationalists can mount a  countrywide political campaign they could become the power in Australia.

Rejecting the usual excuse that migrants stimulate economic growth, economics are not a major concern—loss of culture and quality of life is driving the worry.  (Hint! Although it isn’t politically correct, don’t be afraid to bring up those concerns!)

From Perth Now:

THREE quarters of Australians believe the country doesn’t need any more people and nearly half support a partial ban on Muslim immigrants.

Nauru refugees

For those of you wondering, there is no fresh news about the possibly 1,250 Australian rejected asylum seekers coming to America after the first 50 or so we reported here last month: https://refugeeresettlementwatch.wordpress.com/2017/09/29/first-50-of-australias-failed-asylum-seekers-have-arrived-in-us/

An Australian Population Research Institute survey of more than 2000 people also found 54 per cent want a reduction in the annual migrant intake.

The independent organisation believes the results are driven by quality of life concerns and rapid changes in Australia’s ethnic and religious make-up.

“Australian voters’ concern about immigration levels and ethnic diversity does not derive from economic adversity,” academics Katharine Betts and Bob Birrell wrote in a report based on the survey.

“Rather, it stems from the increasingly obvious impact of population growth on their quality of life and the rapid change in Australia’s ethnic and religious make-up.”

[….]

… 74 per cent of those surveyed believe Australia is “already full”, with most pointing to roads congestion, hospitals capacity, affordable housing and fewer jobs as evidence.

Some 54 per cent want Australia to cut its annual immigrant intake of about 190,000 people and 48 per cent backed a partial ban on Muslim immigration.

[….]

The strongest support for the partial ban came from One Nation voters (89 per cent), with more than 50 per cent of Liberal voters agreeing and just over a third of Labor supporters.

“The willingness to take a tough, discriminating stance on Muslim immigration is not limited to a small minority, but extends to almost half of all voters,” the report said.

More than half of those surveyed feared Australia risked losing its culture and identity, with a similar number saying it had changed beyond recognition and sometimes “felt like a foreign country”.

By the way, RRW gets readers daily from over 100 countries, but Australia is always in the top 3 for sending readers my way.

Australian Socialists march, want detainees admitted to Australia

Posted by Ann Corcoran on October 16, 2017

Here is the latest news from downunder about those migrants being detained on offshore islands as Australia is (rightly) trying to deter illegal boats from arriving on its shores.

But, once again, why is Australia’s immigration policy going to become a problem for towns in America where these mostly Muslim single men (that Australia won’t admit) will be set free.

Maybe each of these naive women marchers could take one home to live at her house (and pay all their expenses!).

Screenshot (983).png

Photo accompanying the Reuters story, note pre-printed signs apparently handed out to the “socialist” marchers! https://www.reuters.com/article/us-australia-refugees-protest-manus/hundreds-march-in-sydney-for-asylum-seekers-ahead-of-png-camp-closure-idUSKBN1CK07O

From Reuters:

SYDNEY (Reuters) – Hundreds of protesters marched through Sydney on Sunday to call for detainees, being held in controversial centers for asylum seekers on remote Pacific islands, to be allowed to stay in Australia as a resettlement deadline approaches.

Canberra’s hardline immigration policy requires asylum seekers intercepted at sea to be sent for processing to two remote Pacific locations – one on Papua New Guinea’s (PNG‘s) Manus Island and the other on the Micronesian island nation of Nauru. They are told they will never be settled in Australia.

The Manus center is to be closed on Oct. 31 when detainees who have had their refugee applications rejected will be resettled in PNG.

Protesters led by socialists and refugee advocates in Sydney said the detainees should be resettled in Australia.

The article goes on to discuss the Obama dumb deal (now Trump’s dumb deal).

For new readers who don’t know, Trump has said we will take up to 1,250 of Australia’s rejects. See my archive on the ‘Australia deal’ by clicking here.

Australia deal: Come on America speak up as Breitbart and Ann Coulter are doing….

Posted by Ann Corcoran on October 4, 2017

Just this morning I reread Nayla Rush’s indepth definitive report on the “deal” Obama set up and Trump is continuing that would bring as many as 1,250 illegal aliens held in detention (by Australia) on offshore islands to your town!

anne richard with UN seal

Rush reported that one of the architects of Obama’s dumb deal (now Trump’s dumb deal) was his Asst. Sec. of State Richard, formerly a VP at the International  Rescue Committee which had been contracted to do the initial screening of these men.

We reported the other day, here, that 50 are on the way to:

Georgia, Oregon, Colorado, Texas, and Arizona.

I want all of you to take a few minutes and read Rush’s report at the Center for Immigration Studies here.  You will see how truly screwed-up our refugee program has been and CONTINUES to be when you see the kinds of people we are admitting—-mostly single men, some held in detention for as long as 4 years, 80% of whom have been declared in need of serious mental health treatment, from countries like Iran, Somalia, and Afghanistan.

‘Extreme vetting?’

No way because instead of the 18-24 months the feds are always bragging about, their vetting was less than a year because the deal was announced only in September of 2016.  See one of our many posts where I reported that the on-again, off-again screening began in November and of course, in less than a year, here they come.

So, can we really expect these men to settle down to jobs in meatpacking towns, in apartments funded by you, collecting their welfare benefits and accessing your local mental health clinics on the way to becoming upstanding and contributing American citizens?

Here is Haaretz reporting on a Breitbart story and Ann Coulter’s response:

This Sunday, Breitbart, the publication run by former Trump adminitration chief strategist Steve Bannon, ran a “news report” which slammed President Trump for continuing an Obama-era deal for the U.S. to resettler Middle Eastern refugees held in Australia.

“The president has now broken two long-promised campaign pledges: Throwing out deals that don’t benefit Americans and stopping the flow of foreign refugees won’t benefit Americans and stopping the flow of foreign refugees,” wrote John Binder in Breitbart.

Screenshot (899).png

Haaretz continued….

Ann Coulter, who has been critical of Trump’s lack of follow through on his hardline immigration promises, joined in Breitbart’s anger, Facetiously joking on Twitter, “This never would have happened if Trump had been elected!!!”

Breitart and Coulter were incised [they must mean ‘incensed’—ed] by reports a second group of about 30 refugees held in Australian-run detention centres on South Pacific islands will leave soon for resettlement in the United States under a controversial refugee swap deal.

The first group of 22, including men from Bangladesh, Sudan and Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar, left one of the camps on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea on Sunday…

I have a very large archive on the”dumb” Australia deal. If you really want to understand the sheer stupidity of the arrangement, click here.

It is no longer Obama’s “dumb deal,” it is Trump’s!

And, I don’t care what the justification of this deal is. This is an abuse of refugee resettlement law and I maintain that Australia needs us more than we need them!

Contact the White House and your elected officials in Washington and tell them what you think.  If you are in one of the five targeted states (listed above) for ‘welcoming’ the Australian rejected asylum seekers, let your governor know what you think as well.

First 50 of Australia’s failed asylum seekers have arrived in US

Posted by Ann Corcoran on September 29, 2017

And, yes, Mr. President, the deal was “dumb” and it makes you “look terrible.”

We have America’s hurricane refugees and you are bringing in ‘refugees’ that Australia does not want on its mainland!

Trump and Turnbull shitty grin

What is Trump grinning about?  He (we!) get nothing out of the deal that saves Turnbull’s political neck.

The news that they were leaving Australia’s detention centers en route  to at least five American states is two days old, so surely they have been delivered.

For new readers, see all of my posts on the Australian (dumb!) deal by clicking here.

Here is the news posted Wednesday at The Guardian:

More than 50 refugees from Manus Island and Nauru are on their way to the United States to be resettled there.

The first 52 refugees to be accepted for resettlement in the United States under a contentious agreement with Australia have left the Pacific island camps where they had been held for years.

Their move comes as reports from Washington indicate the US is preparing to announce it is further slashing its overall refugee intake to its lowest level in a decade.

The first 25 refugees from the men-only camp on Papua New Guinea’s Manus Island had flown out of the capital, Port Moresby, on Tuesday for the United States via the Philippines and Qatar, Refugee Action Coalition spokesman Ian Rintoul said.

Another 27 refugees flew to Port Moresby on Wednesday from a camp in Nauru, he said, also bound, ultimately, for Los Angeles.

But, Los Angeles is not their final destination:

The refugees will be resettled across the United States, including in Georgia, Oregon, Colorado, Texas and Arizona.

They will be assisted with housing, physical and mental healthcare, English lessons, enrolment of children in schools, and in finding employment. [On the US taxpayer’s dime!—ed]

[….]

Obama’s administration had agreed to accept up to 1,250 of Australia’s refugees, mostly from Iran, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, [earlier reports said that Rohingya Muslims were in the group too—ed] in exchange for Australia agreeing to accept refugees from the “northern triangle” countries of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, under a US-led resettlement program. [These are mostly economic migrants NOT even in the US.—ed]

It was dumb when Obama did it, and it is dumb now!

Trump lashed his predecessor’s deal as “dumb”, and complained in a phone call to the Australian prime minister, Malcolm Turnbull, that it would “make me look terrible”.

[….]

Trump ultimately agreed to honour the agreement, subject to “extreme vetting” of refugees.

The US is under no obligation to take a set number of refugees. Australian officials are confident the US will resettle somewhere approaching the 1,250 figure publicly speculated…

The takeaway from this dumb deal is that the US is helping Australia protect its borders, and maintain its security and sovereignty while sacrificing ours!

Australia’s asylum policy mandates that no refugee who arrives in Australia by boat can ever be resettled in the country, a policy the government says dissuades asylum seekers from attempting the dangerous and occasionally deadly ocean crossing from Indonesia.

You can read the rest of the story, here.

Tell the President what you think by clicking here.
