Boo hoo! Canada’s boy wonder, Justin Trudeau, has immigration problems too

If you’ve forgotten all about Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s now infamous 2017 tweet inviting refugees to Canada to stick it to President Trump, I’m here to remind you!

Canada’s 2019 election is expected to be contentious, to say the least, with immigration at the forefront.

Soooo… Trudeau now wants to speed up deportations, presumably to make it look like he is not an immigration pushover.

From Voice of America:

Canada to Step Up Deportations of Undocumented Migrants

Canada’s border agency said Wednesday that it planned to increase its deportations of undocumented migrants by 10,000 a year.

These are to include not just failed refugees and asylum-seekers but those authorities regard as national security threats.

“While Canada is a humanitarian country that has welcomed many immigrants and asylum-seekers over the years, those coming to our country are expected to abide by our laws and processes,” a border agency spokesperson told the state-run Canadian Broadcasting Corp.

There is a backlog of about 18,000 migrants listed for deportation, with 5,300 so-called actionable cases, meaning there are no legal appeals or other reasons for them to stay.

Opposition conservatives call the number of asylum-seekers entering Canada through unmanned U.S. border crossings a crisis. They say the government does not take the matter seriously and has no plan.

Liberals call the border situation a challenge.

More here.

By the way, fearing Trump, many who have gotten in to Canada illegally in the last few years crossed in from the US.

His deportations better send them home to their own countries and not to the US.

Canada rushed to resettle thousands of Syrians who were perfectly safe in Europe and elsewhere, says Rebel Media

Canada’s virtue signaler-in-chief! Trudeau with an offering!

One of his first actions was to ‘virtue signal’ by welcoming thousands of Syrian refugees, but not apparently those in the most need of protection.

I have to say this goes on all the time!

The US does it too!

Don’t get me started on our potentially fraud-ridden arrangement with Malta where beginning in the Bush Administration we were scooping up illegal aliens who reached the island nation and transforming them in to refugees for your communities.

It is a long-held understanding between nations that….

….legitimate refugees must ask for asylum in the first safe country they enter—Malta or any other EU country is safe!

Canadians apparently not as ‘welcoming’ as their Prime Minister

Shortly after President Trump announced his travel ban, you will remember that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told the world in a tweet that they would be welcome in Canada.

trudeau tweet

Well, Canada’s welcome is wearing thin and here is one more story, this time in the Wall Street Journal telling us that the public opinion tide has turned on Trudeau.

Although the article (hat tip: Cathy) is focused on the asylum seekers coming across their border with the US, I am sure that the 52,000+ Syrian refugees they admitted in less than three years had already strained Canada’s ability to provide shelter and welfare for that many needy people.

“We had no bedbugs in Syria” (what not to say if you’ve been ‘welcomed’ to the West)

“….their quality of life was significantly compromised by the presence of pests in their units.”

(Ali Naraghi, their Legal Clinic lawyer)

Two cases don’t make a trend (yet)!  However this is the second case in just the last few weeks or so where ‘grateful’ Syrian refugees are suing their landlords over their accommodations in the West.

Earlier this month it was New Jersey and this story today comes from Toronto, Canada.

Trudeau diversity is strength
The then newly elected Prime Minister Justin Trudeau opened the floodgates in 2015 to tens of thousands of Syrians….

From The Standard:

They fled war-torn Syria only to be caught up in a new battle with a tiny but vicious foe.

Soon after Khaldoun Anijleh and his family moved into their first home in Canada, they started to get itchy red bumps and painful blisters on their bodies. Anijleh’s two kids, Samer, 8, and Joudi, 11, would be up all night crying and scratching.

Then one day they discovered the culprits — small, flat oval-shaped bugs on the baseboards and under the mattresses.

Nigerians ‘escaping’ US and asking for asylum in welcoming Canada

Well what should Canada expect when their Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invited them in in the immediate wake of the election of Donald J. Trump!  Now the Canadians have the audacity to tell us we have to be more strict about who we admit to the US, so our soil doesn’t become a stepping stone to their welcoming arms in the north.

Toning down Trudeau’s welcome!

Before I get to the story from the Washington Post, let me say a few words about the asylum racket. Unlike the usual US Refugee Admissions Program that I write about all the time where ‘refugees’ are selected abroad and flown here, prospective asylum seekers arrive in a safe country and request asylum by claiming they will be persecuted if returned home for reasons such as religion, race, political persuasion etc. (running from crime and violence is not a legitimate reason for eligibility!).

If they are granted asylum they are then full-fledged refugees who get all of the ‘services’ other refugees receive.

A tweet heard around the world!

According to the UN and following generally understood international norms, they are to ask for asylum in the FIRST safe country they reach.

But, all of that first country stuff is out the window as people all over the world are out doing “asylum shopping.”

If they land in Greece they want Germany and those Central Americans on our southern border right now were supposed to have asked for asylum in Mexico, but they are testing our asylum system knowing that if they get a foot in the door the process will drag out for years.

The Nigerians crossing into Canada are also shopping because they believe the political climate in the US, under President Trump, is not conducive to a favorable ruling in an asylum claim.

US immigration lawyers: Go North! Canada: NOOOO!

Sticking it to President Trump in January 2017, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, welcomed one and all to Canada…..

Trudeau’s vision of diversity: http://canadafreepress.com/article/skin-deep-justin-trudeaus-vision-of-diversity

….now a year later it is oopsy! Never mind!

Here are the opening paragraphs in the New York Times on January 28, 2017:

OTTAWA — As President Trump’s executive order on immigration stranded people around the world and provoked condemnation, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada took to social media to restate the country’s open-door policy.

“To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith,” Mr. Trudeau wrote on Twitter on Saturday afternoon. “Diversity is our strength.”

And, thousands and thousands believed him and are headed north (to the open-door!), with perhaps the largest number so far being the Haitians who have lost Temporary Protected Status here in the US.  It is feared Salvadorans will be next.

To try to cut them off at the pass, Trudeau is sending representatives like this one who visited California recently.

From the LA Times:

In a private dining room at Zov’s restaurant in Tustin, a Canadian envoy made his pitch to about a dozen immigration attorneys and immigrant rights leaders.

Pablo Rodriguez, a member of Parliament, leaned over from his seat in the middle of the table and asked everyone to spread the word: Please do not cross into Canada illegally.

Trudeau and Pablo Rodriguez
Trudeau: Please Pablo, Go! Tell them not to come. I was just getting in a few licks at Trump, I didn’t really mean we are welcoming to everyone!

“Get the facts and make a decision based on the right facts, before leaving your jobs and taking your children out of school and going up there hoping to stay there forever,” Rodriguez said. “Because if you don’t qualify … you will be returned and in this case not to the United States. You will have lost your status and would be returned to your country of origin.”

Worried that anti-immigrant rhetoric and decisions from the Trump administration could drive more people across its border, the Canadian government is trying to nip that in the bud.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dispatched Rodriguez to California.

The whip for the majority Liberal Party in Parliament, Rodriguez arrived in the U.S. a few days after President Trump announced his decision to end temporary protected status of an estimated 200,000 Salvadorans in the country.

His message was not that different from immigration hardliners in the U.S. But it was delivered with a nicer Canadian soft sell.

World Relief, one of the nine federal resettlement contractors paid to place refugees in your towns, was there. Before you continue know that the DACA ‘children’ are NOT REFUGEES even if the contractors want you to think they are.

Moments before the meeting, Glen Peterson, director of the refugee resettlement agency World Relief’s office in Garden Grove, said he had told one of his staffers he was meeting with a Canadian member of Parliament regarding immigration issues.

“Oh good,” she said. “Are they taking refugees?”

Peterson said the woman is a beneficiary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which has protected nearly 700,000 young immigrants who were brought to the United States as children and are currently in the country illegally. In September, Trump decided to terminate the program in six months, forcing Congress to find a solution.

There is much more, click here.  Note that US immigration attorneys are disregarding Pablo’s message and are prepping their clients to head to Canada.

See my Canada category here.  What a mess they have now with Trudeau and first his Syrian airlift and now Central Americans and Somalis especially heading north.

Syrian refugee in Canada claims discrimination in drivers’ license case

Oh geez, so here we have one of the tens of thousands of Syrians admitted to Canada since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau began his airlift (46,000 arrived in 2016 alone) whining and complaining because he can’t prove he was a good driver in Syria.

From Around Canada:

When Yaser Nadaf fled the horrors of war-torn Syria, the last thing he was thinking about was his driver’s licence.

yaser-nadaf
Nadaf is taking his case to the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal so he can get his drivers license sooner.  Wouldn’t the citizens of Canada be safer if he went through their licensing program? Photo: http://www.atinitonews.com/2017/12/syrian-refugees-claim-that-ontario-road-test-wait-time-is-discriminatory-gathers-steam/

It was only months later, when he arrived in Canada after a brief stay in Turkey, that he realized it wasn’t with him and that without it, he would have to start from the very beginning of Ontario’s licensing process, unable to get his G2 licence for at least eight months.

Luckily, Nadaf remembered exactly where he’d left it and his sister, who was still in their home country, located it for him.  [So obviously his sister isn’t fearing for her life and running to Canada—ed]

Another document is required in Ontario to back up the driver’s license, but such documents are not available from Syrian local governments.

By the way, this points to the FACT that Syrians cannot be thoroughly screened because documents about their past are NOT available!

The Ministry of Transportation provides an exemption to the waiting period for previous driving experience outside of Canada, but only if an applicant provides an original letter of authentication attesting to their experience. Ontario is the only province that requires that sort documentation to exempt someone from having to wait between getting their interim and permanent licence.

[….]

The trouble for Nadaf and many other Syrian newcomers is that documents like that are usually acquired from the local jurisdiction that issued the licence — something many refugees simply don’t have access to with many fleeing from the very governments they’re now asked to turn to for documentation, explains refugee advocate Omar Khan.

Boo hoo! Then start at the beginning!

It was only after Yaser Nadaf fled Syria that he realized he didn’t have his licence and without it, he would need to start from the very beginning of Ontario’s licensing process. (Submitted by Yaser Nadaf)

And it’s that requirement that has one Syrian refugee taking his case to the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal — now with the help of the International Human Rights Program (IHRP) at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law.

You see how this goes—welcome them and they want to bend the laws in their favor the minute they get into the West!
