UN to Trump: You must let them in!

Posted by Ann Corcoran on October 29, 2018

Here we go again!

The United Nations is demanding that we follow international law and let those fleeing violence in their Central American countries (not a criteria for granting asylum) into the US.  What happened with that supposed effort to tell Mexico to grant them asylum—that is what international law says!

The first safe country asylum seekers reach is where they must ask for asylum.

Clearly the UN is endorsing the concept of “asylum shopping” a term used around the world where migrants are on the hunt for their best deal.

But, you know all of that.

The caravan is an anti-Trump public relations stunt in the run-up to the midterm elections and it seems the whole world is in on it.

Here is Voice of America (with a photo of the starving mass of humanity!):

UN: Countries Must Allow People at Risk to Request Asylum

If VOA was trying to get sympathy for the marchers, this photo is a poor choice!  Just saying!

GENEVA —
The U.N. refugee agency is urging Washington to allow people fleeing persecution and violence, including those who are traveling with the Central American caravan, to request asylum on U.S. territory.

U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed to prevent a caravan of thousands of immigrants from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador from entering the United States. The Pentagon has announced plans to send hundreds of troops to the border in what is described as a support role.

The U.N. refugee agency will not weigh in on whether it is legal for a country to close its borders to refugees and asylum seekers. But it says international law clearly states any person whose life may be in danger has the right to seek asylum and benefit from international protection.

What you see happening with gobbledygook in that previous paragraph is a strategy to make you think that every person on the move anywhere is a legitimate refugee.  We aren’t there yet, but the UN is driving public opinion in that direction.

There has to be a reason for “danger,” generalized danger is not a reason for granting asylum.  To be granted asylum a person must prove that he or she would be persecuted for race, religion, political views if returned to one’s home country.  Running from gang violence or poor job prospects does not make someone a refugee!

Andrej Mahecic

UN spokesman Andrej Mahecic says there are security risks for the migrants as they travel through Mexico.  Well gee, is that our problem? The UN can simply and easily get them back to their homes. (If they were really that concerned.)

“Our position globally is that the individuals who are fleeing persecution and violence need to be given access to territory and protection including refugee status and determination procedure. And, if the people who are fleeing persecution and violence enter Mexico, they need to be provided access to the Mexican asylum system and those entering the United States need to be provided access to the American asylum system,” he said.

But to get to the US they must pass through Mexico!

So that (above) tells me that any migrant caravan marchers who didn’t ask for asylum in Mexico when they crossed in to that country are admitting they aren’t asylum seekers after all.

Hence when they reach the US border they will all be illegal aliens and we can keep them out!

Mahecic keeps trying to send his message:

He said it is urgent to stabilize the situation, to provide proper reception and to improve basic conditions for people on the move. In regard to people seeking asylum, he says their international protection needs must be properly assessed before any decision is taken on their return or deportation.

More here.

Remember that Mahecic and his bosses are trying to drive public opinion world wide to their view that migration is a human right.  If they succeed then obviously that spells the end of the concept of national sovereignty.

Trump’s America First! message is completely antithetical to the UN’s objective, thus their on-going effort to destroy him.

Don’t you just feel like telling the UN to shut up! Of course, using only non-violent means by cutting off their funds entirely!

Ohio Gov Kasich: The Lord wants us to accept the migrant caravan; Biblical expert: not so fast!

Posted by Ann Corcoran on October 29, 2018

Ohio is developing in to one of the most migrant ‘welcoming’ states in the nation thanks to its present governor and former candidate for President, John Kasich.

But, this is a bit much even for him!

For all of you who are sick of the ‘welcome the stranger’ club many leaders of the Religious Left beat you up with these days, there are some things in this story you should know.

From The Ohio Star:

Ohio Gov. Kasich: ‘The Lord’ Doesn’t Want Americans to Oppose Migrant Caravan

Ohio Gov. John Kasich told CNN Thursday that “the Lord” doesn’t want Americans to build walls and oppose the migrant caravan heading to the United States from Central America.

“We’ve got to start putting ourselves in the shoes of other people,” Kasich told CNN’s Newsroom.

See Kullberg’s American Association of Evangelicals expose’ on George Soros and his “rented Evangelicals”:         https://americanevangelicals.com/

Kasich, the grandson of Catholic immigrants from Eastern Europe who became an Anglican Christian as an adult, said he believes most Americans would welcome the caravan.

But not all Christians agree with the governor’s take on biblical truth.

Kelly Kullberg, a Christian Ohioan who is editor and co-author of Finding God at Harvard, leads the new American Association of Evangelicals and has served as a missionary in Guatemala and El Salvador.

She said the Bible has a lot to say about nations, but nowhere does it teach nations to open their borders to mass migration.

“While I appreciate Gov. Kasich’s Christian faith and compassion, I would encourage him to reconsider the nature of love and the balanced wisdom of Scripture,” Kullberg told The Ohio Star. “The Bible does not teach open borders, but wise welcome.”

Continue here as Kullberg gives you some ideas on responses to those who are cherry-picking the Bible to support their leftwing views on immigration.

Trump Administration is protecting child border-crossers, as Dems demand they be reunited with crooks and liars

naive Americans

Seen around the world: Naive and ignorant Americans protest in New York City in June!   https://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/nearly-2-000-children-have-been-separated-from-parents-at-us-border-in-six-weeks/story-gyE9i6QatYEQt6O79UJybM.html

You’ve probably heard snatches of information about how some of the ‘parents’ of children separated as they crossed the US border illegally were not even the parents of the children too young to speak for themselves, but only snatches because the mainstream media doesn’t want you to hear the truth.

So the White House has put out some data that you need to keep handy when discussing the issue with friends and family who are swallowing the Left’s talking points to paint the Trump Administration in the most evil terms.

Muslims and non-Muslims given guidance on how to fight Trump’s refugee slowdown

Posted by Ann Corcoran on March 11, 2017

From a publication called Truthout comes words of advice for open borders activists on how to think, organize and push back against the Trump Administration’s refugee admissions and travel pause Executive Order.

Entitled ‘A guide to resisting Muslim ban 2.0’

(Here are just a few snips of advice from author Hoda Katebi, emphasis is mine)

Two big no-nos here according to author Katebi. Don’t pretend you are a Muslim, and for Muslims, don’t wrap yourselves in American flags! Reuters photo here: http://www.rediff.com/news/report/pix-in-new-york-protesters-take-to-the-streets-to-say-i-am-muslim-too/20170220.htm

….if national security is actually the problem — if the US government actually cares about ending the killing of American citizens — why does it not start with dismantling its own police forces? These forces comprise an armed, emboldened and deadly organization that receives training from a foreign apartheid state (Israel), and kills almost 1,000 people annually (including already over 200 people this year). United States law enforcement officers are a larger threat to the safety and security of individuals living in this country (particularly Black and Indigenous people) than “radical Islam” — whatever that means — ever will be.  [Any sane person could see immediately the anarchy, looting and lawlessness that would engulf US cities in minutes if law enforcement officers stood down or were non-existent!—ed]

In fact, it is important to recognize that “national security” is only a code word for anti-Muslim policies domestically, as well as the justification for US military violence against Muslim communities internationally, which is often erased from public view.

[….]

Wherever you see it, challenge the normalization of bans on immigration and refugee resettlement. Do not ignore the rhetoric of the people around you. Do not think that this is OK. Do not think that this can go unchallenged. Here are some things to remember and steps to take as we move forward:

[….]

4. Do not make compromises. Do not compromise your values for the sake of having an extra white person join your protest.

[….]

6. As always, be intersectional. Half of the officially banned countries are Black-majority countries. Black, Muslim immigrants and refugees are oftentimes left out from both Black and Muslim spaces, so be intentional about centering those who are on the margins of the margins. Beyond making sure not to exclude your own people, keep in mind that Customs and Border Patrol, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Department of Homeland Security, municipal law enforcement and other violent institutions that target people of color are just different enforcement mechanisms with the same goal: upholding white supremacy. You cannot succeed by ignoring those relationships.

And for our non-Muslim allies:

1. Show up. Support the ongoing efforts of Muslim-led organizing in resisting the ban. If you’re an immigration lawyer, volunteer. If you’re a teacher, connect your Muslim students to resources, and talk to your class about what is happening. If you’re a journalist, document the movement. Share the work of Muslim artists, writers, creators, organizers and scholars. Hold your racist friends and family accountable.

2. Do not claim an identity that is not yours. No, you are not #Muslimtoo — and claiming such only covers the voices of actual Muslims trying to share their real experiences. Rather, listen to the leadership, direction and experiences of Muslims who are speaking out and up. [Non-Muslim activists must listen to Muslims! Do what you are told!—ed]

3. Be careful not to perpetuate anti-Muslim undertones in your conversations. When talking about the Muslim ban, do not challenge it by saying there have been “no fatal attacks by immigrants from countries listed in the Muslim ban.” While that is true, this not only provides a justification for banning immigration from countries that have had someone commit violence, but also legitimizes collective punishment. Also, we are not all immigrants — that concept erases the histories of Indigenous people native to this land and Black people who were forcibly enslaved and brought here. Moreover, a Muslim refugee from a country the United States destabilized is not the same as an immigrant from the UK who is here getting a PhD. See Number. Another thing: Stop draping American flags over our hijabs.

I recommend that you read the whole thing, here.

Count on these Republicans to be members of the Open Borders movement

Posted by Ann Corcoran on October 8, 2016

The great to-do about nothing regarding Donald Trump’s decade-old locker room talk is really all about immigration.

john-thune

South Dakota Senator John Thune is one of the weasels in the Senate who has come out of the closet today. This man will never support closing the border or slowing Muslim refugees to America because he doesn’t support the one man who can do it. Make it a habit to check their ‘Conservative scores’ here: https://www.conservativereview.com/scorecard Thune has an F grade.

And as such, perhaps the kerfuffle is actually a great benefit to us because it very clearly shows us those members of Congress, US Senators and a couple of governors who do not want to close our borders.

These are also the elected officials we can’t count on to slow the refugee flow into America because by opposing Trump they are supporting Hillary’s (tens of thousands of Syrian Muslims for your town) plan and inviting her Muslim Brotherhood pals to join her in the White House.

You know, bloggers like me have nothing to lose. I could care less if you read this blog or not! I don’t make a living doing this like some of those who write for National Review, so I’m calling the following elected officials traitors to America.

There is only one issue that matters for the future of this country and that is immigration. And, Trump is the first candidate at that level to know it and speak forcefully in favor of saving our unique American culture!

These Open Borders Republican globalists are out of the closet now!

This is from The Hill.  Some of them were so chicken they said they weren’t voting for Hillary, but couldn’t vote for Trump. We are not stupid! A vote for anyone else is a vote for Hillary.

Some say that Mike Pence should go to the top of the ticket. Nice guy, great VP pick, but Hillary will win. This is asinine.

I suspect it is only a partial list because earlier in the day, I saw that Rep. Mia Love (R-UT) was now opposing Trump.

And, even before I posted, the news is out that Sen. John McCain has joined the list. Only surprise is why it took him so long when his protege Kelly Ayotte leads the list.

Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.)

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley (R)

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah)

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert

Rep. Frank Lo Biondo (R-N.J.)

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Ak.)

Rep. Tom Rooney (R-Fla.)

Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-Ala)

Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo)

Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.)

Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho)

Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Mo)

South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Az.)

Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R-Neb.)

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo)

Rep. Joe Heck (R-Nev)

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.)

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah)

Rep. Martha Roby (R-Ala)

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.):

Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah)

Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Ak)

Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.)

There are probably more I haven’t seen yet.  Send them along if you see them.

And, if anyone is going to be blamed for destroying the Republican Party it is this list!

I recommend that if any of these are your representatives and you want to see the Donald Trump “movement” in the White House, you need to unload on them in the next couple of days.

Picket their homes if you must! But, don’t let them get off the hook.

CPAC 2014: Trump was out in front (virtually alone) on immigration issue

Posted by Ann Corcoran on August 11, 2015

Yesterday Ann Coulter tweeted this little walk down memory lane about the premiere (supposedly) conservative conclave held in Washington, DC each year known as CPAC.

trump_cpac14

For the record, we have written often on CPAC, but will not attend primarily because CPAC ‘leaders’ including Grover Norquist have worked hard for many years to keep discussions on immigration to a minimum and have outright banned those who want to discuss the Islamist threat to America.

Go here for our archive of posts on Grover Norquist.  BTW, while pushing his amnesty agenda, Norquist worked very closely with the office of Senator Marco Rubio in helping craft that now discredited ‘Gang of Eight’ amnesty bill, but I’m digressing.

Here is a piece (3/7/14) written by Jon Feere at the Center for Immigration Studies (tweeted by Ann Coulter yesterday) which chronicles how Trump was alone among a list of Republican leaders and Presidential wannabes in addressing immigration.

Trump was talking about our borders, our sovereignty and the future of the Republican Party long before he decided to jump into the Presidential race, and he must have been very unpopular (with the ‘leaders’ at CPAC) with this message!

From Feere at CIS (emphasis below is mine):

Nearly every speaker at the first day of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) avoided any discussion of immigration or amnesty, a sign that Republican politicians are starting to understand that conservative voters have very little interest in doubling legal immigration and amnestying illegal aliens.

Of all speakers, which included Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), and governors Chris Christie and Bobby Jindal, only one speaker spent any time on immigration policy: Donald Trump. He came out strong on sovereignty and garnered strong applause for noting “we’re either a country, or we’re not; we either have borders or we don’t.” Trump also noted that amnesty is a benefit for the Democratic Party, while calling out Rubio:

When you let the 11 million — which will grow to 30 million people — in, I don’t care who stands up, whether it’s Marco Rubio, and talks about letting everybody in, you won’t get one vote. Every one of those votes goes to the Democrats. You have to do what’s right; it’s not about the votes necessarily. But of those 11 million potential voters which will go to 30 million in a not too long future, you will not get any of those votes no matter what you do, no matter how nice you are, no matter how soft you are, no matter how many times you say ‘rip down the fence and let everybody in’ you’re not going to get the votes. So with immigration, you better be smart and you better be tough, and they’re taking your jobs, and you better be careful. You better be careful.

So why were Pro-amnesty agitators at Cantor election-night headquarters?

Posted by Ann Corcoran on June 12, 2014

Is that CASA de Maryland we see rioting at Cantor headquarters on election night?

Wouldn’t it make more sense if they had stormed the Brat election-night party?

Our source on the ground suggests they were there because they had anticipated a Cantor victory!

From a Brat supporter:

They were THERE FOR THE VICTORY CELEBRATION….because Cantor winning MEANT AMNESTY.

At least they were honest about what a Cantor victory really meant.

Story at the Washington Post.  Police were called in.  Our post on the stunning Cantor defeat yesterday.

I wonder how much time the Sandinistas (aka CASA) spent in Richmond working on the Cantor campaign?

From at least last fall!

Be sure to see this story (The corruption of Eric Cantor) at Right Side News from September 2013, where Cantor staffers met with Open borders activists (including btw, the Virginia Council of Churches, a refugee contractor):

As the September 4, 2013, Richmond, Virginia TEA Party was holding its rally outside the locked doors of Mr. Cantor’s Richmond offices, Mr. Cantor’s staff, represented at the highest levels, was meeting – privately and very quietly – with far-left groups representing pro-Amnesty, pro-Obamacare and pro-entitlement groups.

These groups included:

*Central American Solidarity Association (CASA): A special interest group in favor of Progressive and Liberal policies promoting the expansion of rights for undocumented (read: illegal) aliens currently residing in the United States.

There is more!  Read it all!

Let this be a lesson to Republicans everywhere.

Obama: “Children” coming across border illegally, humanitarian crisis, requires more $$$$

Posted by Ann Corcoran on June 4, 2014

Obama wants Congress to allocate another $1.4 BILLION for the kids!

We have been writing about the unaccompanied minors (mostly teens) for years, but the situation is now getting out of control as the kids head here during the remaining years of the Obama Open Borders Administration.

Officially the Office of Refugee Resettlement is in charge of the problem, but now FEMA and the military will get involved in the babysitting as well.

And, you can bet with potentially new taxpayer money flowing, as one of my readers said just yesterday, the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service must be “salivating” as the “refugee” numbers are doubling overnight.  (The US Conference of Catholic Bishops has contracts to take care of the kids too, and I wouldn’t be surprised to find others of the major resettlement contractors scrambling for their piece of the pie as well!).

Obama mouthpiece Cecilia Munoz: It is a “false rumor” that they will all be able to stay. (Of course they will, who is going to deport the “kids.”) http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/04/us/politics/cecilia-munozs-perseverance-in-immigration-push.html?_r=0

From Newsmax:

President Barack Obama on Monday described a surge in unaccompanied immigrant children caught trying to cross the Mexican border as an “urgent humanitarian situation,” as the White House asked Congress for an extra $1.4 billion in federal money to cope. Obama said the U.S. will temporarily house the children at two military bases.

Obama appointed the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Craig Fugate, to be in charge of the situation.

In its new estimates, the government said as many as 60,000 children, mostly from Central America, could be caught this year trying to cross the Mexican border illegally, costing the U.S. more than $2.28 billion to house, feed and transport the children to shelters or reunite them with relatives already living in the United States. The new estimate is about $1.4 billion more than the government asked for in Obama’s budget request sent to Congress earlier this year.

In the last eight months alone, 47,000 children have been apprehended at the Southwest Border.

Obama described the growing humanitarian issue at the border in a presidential memorandum Monday that outlined a government-wide response led by Fugate.

Kids to be housed at military bases (now that the war on terror is over, guess the military has nothing better to do!):

The growth has surpassed the system’s capacity to process and house the children. Last month, the federal government opened an emergency operations center at a border headquarters in South Texas to help coordinate the efforts and the Office of Refugee Resettlement, a division of the Health and Human Services Department, turned to the Defense Department for the second time since 2012 to help house children in barracks at Lackland Air Force Base near San Antonio.

[….]

More than 90 percent of those sheltered by the government are from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.  [Did I miss a war going on in Central America?  Or, are these just economic migrants looking for jobs, low-cost college degrees at Americans’ expense, and amnesty on the horizon?—ed]

And, then we get our daily laugh out of the Obama Administration, this time from the director of domestic policy, Cecilia Munoz, as she gives us the White House talking points.   What is it with these supposedly smart women (Susan Rice too!)?

Munoz says its a “false rumor” that Obama immigration policies are drawing them here now and that they will all be staying!  And, we are expected to believe that!

Munoz said Monday the administration is aware of false rumors that have circulated that migrant children who get to this country would be automatically allowed to stay here or benefit from some future immigration reform legislation.

Mark my words, not one will be sent back to Central America.

I suppose we should have long ago created an ‘invasion of America’ series, just as did our ‘invasion of Europe’ archive.

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson hounded for his comments on refugees

Posted by Ann Corcoran on March 2, 2014

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson brought out the dogs with refugee comment.

The interview that NewsHounds reported on here last Wednesday happened earlier in February.  Carlson was interviewing Michael Cutler on the issue of asylum fraud and the Obama Administration’s relaxation of security screening for refugees and asylum seekers.

I had never heard of NewsHoundswe watch Fox News so you don’t have to–a Leftwing blog originally launched with the help of Moveon.org.  They assure us that they are not funded by George Soros here.

LOL!  Here is the crux of what the sanctimonious blogger Priscilla says of Carlson (I’m reading NewsHounds so you don’t have to!):

Here we go with the tired old Statue of Liberty mythology, and Carlson is a “total dick!”

NewsHounds:

The Statue of Liberty is considered a beacon of freedom whose message to the world is to “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” But Emma Lazarus’s eloquent phrases mean nothing to scion of white privilege, Tucker Carlson, who is aghast that his country would welcome those whose lives have been torn asunder by political upheavals and other circumstances which necessitate their seeking asylum here. Earlier this month (February 8th), Tucker Carlson hosted an anti-immigration spokesperson for a biased discussion of how changes in asylum rules are threatening our freedom. In railing against asylum policies, Tucker Carlson, showed us, once again, why he is such a total dick!

Can you believe it, Carlson said the US government’s job is to protect American citizens (gasp!).  And, Carlson asked the unforgivable question, why is it our moral obligation to take all these refugees?

Priscilla continues:

This newest right wing fear factor was part and parcel of Carlson’s interview with Michael Cutler who writes for a white nationalist publication and is a fellow with the CaliforniaCenter for Population Stabilization, a hate group which is funded by the white supremacist Pioneer Fund.

Carlson described the new policy, in fair & balanced terms. Just kidding he referred to it as “ripping the immigration door off of its hinges.” In introducing his guest, a former ICE agent, Carlson said he “could hardly believe” the policy is “real.” Cutler claimed that these people, coming from countries with terrorism, won’t be sufficiently vetted and cited an example of past asylum seekers who were engaged in crime. The chyron framed the Fox propaganda: “Asylum Outrage.” He continued to discuss the “national security” implications of this policy which will “put Americans at risk.”

Carslon said “the whole thing is crazy” and asserted that “the US government has only one job and that’s to look out for the welfare of American citizens.”  He asked

“why is letting in refugees, or people who claim they are, I mean the refugees, you know half the world has refugee status, India, why do I have a moral obligation to do that as an American, I’m totally confused by this.”

Carlson then made one more assertion that drives them wild—if we let them all in they will all become Democratic voters.

“it’s more than compassion, these people will become voters, many of them will become voters, trust me, they’re part of the Obama coalition and the enemy, they will be Democratic voters, the numbers show it, the Obama coalition and the enemy.”

And, in case you missed it in the opening, Carlson is a “total dick!”  (Sorry, but am just quoting Priscilla)

So according to Tucker Carlson, refugees from war torn countries should not be allowed into the country because it’s not his moral obligation and because they might vote Democratic. One thing is for sure, that kind of “Christian” attitude won’t be growing the GOP anytime soon. The America of Fox News is not the America represented on Lady Liberty. At least that’s what Tucker Carlson thinks! What a total dick!

Thanks NewsHounds!   I missed the Carlson interview and wouldn’t have known about it but for your reporting.  Anyone who can infuriate you on this subject is a new hero of mine!

Catholic group withdraws funding from YMCA over its affiliation with “refugee” group

Posted by Ann Corcoran on November 12, 2013

It is not often we see something like this from a Catholic group.

Catholic funding was withdrawn from the YMCA because the Y was affiliated with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights which is promoting gay marriage.

Readers should know that the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (like its partners in Tennessee (Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition) and Massachusetts (Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition)), is just basically a hard Left open borders community organizing group which has the word “refugee” in its title to give it cover for agitating on all sorts of Leftist goals.

Here is the story in Opposing Views (emphasis mine):

The YMCA at Illinois University at Urbana-Champaign is paying a hefty price for refusing to cut ties with a group that publicly supports gay marriage.

The Catholic Church gave the YMCA an ultimatum: stop working with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, or lose your $60,000 grant.

The YMCA’s director told WICD-15 that while they take no position on gay marriage, it is important for them to not allow anyone to influence who they work with.

The University Y board met several weeks ago and voted to remain in the coalition.

The University YMCA sponsors programs, organizations and organizations of all kinds. The Y’s director says their partnership with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights allows them to help “hundreds in the community each year.”

The University YMCA plans to launch a campaign to raise money to continue its work with the local immigrant community, according to the News-Gazette. The University Y has received money for immigration work from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development since 2010.

The initial grant was about $4,000 but increased this year to about $60,000. But the Church sent the Y a notice in September: in order to receive the funding, the University Y’s executive director, Mike Doyle, would have to testify that the organization was not involved with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.
